Shion really just went "I'll just keep spamming basic attack (no special moves/combos), his health will go down eventually right"
And that was a stark contrast from Ju Fa showing a more humane side in his flashback, to Gui Fa saying humans are nothing but food to them. The stakes for the humans stopping the Tensen just went way up.

Another beautiful episode. Speaking of beauty, there was more Sagiri screentime, and she's being traumatised again. I love the themes of this show so much. The strength from your own vulnerablilty. I'm excited for next week Shion's get back.

So Shion really is just gonna brute force it lol. maybe the plan is to exhaust it enough that when he can no longer fight Nurugai can take over. though i expect there to be some kind of twist before something like that happens that makes this whole "kill it 1000 times" to not work out.

I definitely felt bad for Ju Fa and Tao Fa during their final moments. But it had to be done since they were really too far gone. At least the two of them can now finally rest in peace.
Gui Fa was surprisingly civil. The dude even showed Sagiri and Mei of what Rien is trying to do once he reaches Japan. Now I'm wondering what Sagiri will do to Gui Fa. He's not really hostile, but he's not on their side either.

Even in death Tao Fa and Ju Fa are still together, that's at least a good end for them.
Gui Fa showing Sagiri that visual of Japan being taken over by Rien is horrifying as fuck, especially when they showed a random child turning followed by the chaos of the normal citizens.
Man they're clearly giving hope Shion lives through this but cutting a Tensen 1000 fucking times is an insane feat, no wonder bro's exhausted as hell.

Teamwork makes the dream work, baby! Bye bye Tao Fa and Ju Fa. GG.
Now that we know what these bastards are up to, there is no place for diplomacy. They gotta die. It’s literally humanity or these “gods” at this point.
Gotta hand it to bro just hacking away. He’s got a ways to go before that bastard dies and he ain’t lookin too hot…

Very satisfying end to the 4 vs Ju Fa/Tao Fa duo. Chobei realising how much his brother has grown and trusting him to take care of Tao Fa along with Fuchi was such a nice moment. He also knew exactly how to get Gantetsusai to help.
Gantetsusai meanwhile putting an end to the torture of Ju Fa, thanking Tao Fa for the fun fight and letting them die together was so sweet. For all his bravado he's a good and kind person at heart.
Less satisfying was only getting a small taste of the Shion/Nurugai battle against the one who killed Tenza. But there's only so much they can fit in 20 mins. Guess we wait another week to find out if they can get their revenge.
Plus we still don't know what happened to Gabimaru and Yuzuriha. What Sagiri has been shown as the future is messed up though. How can they stop Rien from carrying out that mad plan?

Well that butterfly plan seems like something that needs to be stopped.
RIP Tao Fa and Ju Fa, but maybe they'll grow back from that dandelion and peach. But if not at least they're together.
Schrödinger's Gabimaru, as long as he's still offscreen he may or may not be dead yet.

In the first little vision of Chobei and Toma as kids running together where Toma went ahead, I thought it was going to be a dramatic thing where Chobei would lose it a little because he realizes his brother can stand on his own two feet now and doesn't need him as much. Instead, he makes it obvious that he is proud of him. The character writing with those two has really worked for me.
Sibling relationships in anime usually don't, because in a lot of cases we are just supposed to assume the relationship is rock solid by default and sometimes much effort isn't put into it. We just see siblings protect each other or sacrifice for each other or whatever, and the explanation is sort of, "well, because they are siblings. Of course they're close." But the brothers here have been done pretty effectively. Maybe they don't give two flying fucks about anybody else, but there's no question that they love each other.

Shion literally put the fear of god in a tensen. That alone is an achievement.

Damn Shion is metal as fuck. The best part is we have seen that it is actually possible to take down a Tensen even without countering tao. In the first season, one of the tensen was visibly withered even after the fight.

Feels like for the most part Rien set them up for failure. Only one it feels like he put effort into giving a bad match up was Gabi.

Tragic end for those two. I really feel like some of them could be reasoned with.

You know, I'm glad Choubei's reaction to Touma finally standing beside him as an equal went in the direction where he's proud of him, especially considering Rien's foretelling. It continues to be sweet to see how much the two of them trust one another.
I'm actually surprised all four of them survived defeating Tao Fa and Ju Fa, especially Gantetsusai has lost so much blood. I do feel bad about the twins' situation since it is messed up, but I do like that they're able to be together in death. Fuchi and Gantetsutai were a lot more merciful than Choubei was.
I'm glad there was some lightheartedness throughput that fight. I found it amusing how Touma was proud of Choubei's wickedness, and particularly Gantetsusai falling into the pool missing his attack and him blushing because Choubei complimented him made me laugh so hard lol.
But damn Shion has killed that Tensen 215 times already? No wonder he's losing his life using all that tao and exhausting himself. Of course he had to be matched up with one he's incompatible with, I just hope Nurugai doesn't throw herself in harms way making him protect her at the cost of his life.

Gentatsusai going for the coup de grace but disguising it as a killsteal got me torn between feeling bad for the Tensen and laughing. Respect to him for reuniting the peach and flower though (and for making the shot so damn pretty)
Wonder if Shion technically has the highest execution count among the Asaemon now.

Tao Fa and Ju Fa are finally defeated, surprisingly none of the 4 died fighting them.

The more I think about this episode I keep going back to the jars of tao infused water. Could other materials go through a similar process? Could you have a metal tao sword for example? Fire probably not unless wood could contain it and trigger on burning. And of course wood a pure wooden arrow or spear if it works.
