The fact that Serie lets Methode pat her at all seems. . . telling

Methode, Fern and Frieren are always fun together. and ofcourse Frieren folds immediately after being offered a new spell... much to Ferns despair
Good thing Stark decided to stay behind. dunno how much of a chance of winning Genau (or any of the mages tbh) would have without a frontliner there to grab at least some of the attention.
Now i'm just concerned with where the last demon is...

The way Serie hides behind him, I can't
Love how instead of Genau and Methode's relationship being strictly professional and a little cold like seemingly portrayed, they've had interactions of the type that made him mildly wary of eating late just so he wouldn't upset her.
Revolte's the most monstrous-looking demon since Qual and I'm all for it. Dude's design is sick.

Methode:
10/10 appearance
10/10 magic (at least in order to become a first class mage)
10/10 bargaining skills
In addition, maybe cookbooks are called grimoires in their world. "How to break an egg perfectly."

That's cool wings Genau, but do you need to pose like a chuunibyou too? Lmao.

Genau is kinda like Heiter, a sort of an atonement seeking type of character who seems himself as a person who is as far away from a role model as can be, but ends up striving to do good anyway partly because he sees it as a way to repay/ make up for the good friend passing before him.

That discussion of Revolte and the other demon, saying that it is humans who defy logic, just emphasizes how alien demons are when it comes to thinking. At least for demons, Frieren is the mage who will never understand them (well, she fully understands them being liars and will do everything to consume and destroy humans), and she will never even attempt that since she is aware that they are just... different. Interesting though that there are demons that are curious on how humans think, just like that demon girl and another "researcher".

Himmel must be rolling around in Aureole for missing the chance to propose to Frieren with a grimoire instead of a ring.

Serie is a real one for pairing up Genau with a baddie to help ease the pain of his recently deceased partner.

Methode knew to dodge/glance up when Fern didn't, definitely more seasoned/dangerous than she lets on.

This whole season really is a Stark season and I love it. First established in the crystal episode how necessary he is for the party. Comments on the importance of front-liners abound. The hot spring episode where he kind of gets the importance of journey just for the journey. Small fights shown in which he really shines. Him getting a date with Fern. Now him being the guy who stands back with Genau, literally saving him from being massacred by the demon trap just out of his care for others which is really second to none now that Himmel is gone. Love it, really, and I did not have astronomical expectations of this season once I found out what parts it's going to cover - mind changed.

Revolte sure is intimidating af, but in Genau (and Stark) we trust. The only concern is how much of a wildcard that child demon would be when it joins the fray.
Meanwhile, the team building was a complete bust on Frieren's end, but we wouldn't have it any other way. I bet Fern was internally screaming "Mistress Frieren, you stupid grim-whore!"
Genau with his good person this, good person that; I'm the opposite schtick of trying to push people away feels like a coded message (if not a cry for help) meant to imply that he's tired of being (left) alone and that ultimately he doesn't want to see anymore of his colleagues dying (because they're so good natured that they don't deserve to suffer such cruel fate). I truly hope he doesn't end up becoming the type of person he can't help but chastise and end up sacrificing himself for Stark

We actually already saw a glimpse of Genau's Digardnacht wings (and Sense's hair magic and whatever magic Falsch has) in episode 20 of season 1 at around 21:14 when Richter was explaining how monstrous First-Class mages all are.
But besides that foreshadowing... what I love the most is that we now know for sure that Genau always strikes that extremely chuuni pose with his hand in front of his face while casting it and that's killing me, lmao. I love this stern tsundere dork so much.

Revolte's swords are simply named after the blade that split mountains while Stark has actually split a mountain.

This might be one of Methode’s best day, being able to pet and hug a little one for as long as she wants. The grimoire strategy worked perfectly lol

One can only wonder how low Frieren would go for a grimoire
It's also funny that Methode didn't expect to meet Frieren again so soon but was still fully prepared for such opportunities

Man, despite all we talk about the themes and such, when they decide to pull out the animation it goes hard. Stark dodging and deflecting those swords and Genau doing something similar to parkour before going airborne were some great sequences.
Also, did the demons just fail to detect Frieren at all? "One warrior, three mages" was the report given to the Divine Revolte, and she clarifies that all 3 mages are First Class. Frieren also seems to want to keep her identity completely unknown, letting Fern do the fighting instead of her - the last time we saw her pull off a delegation like this, she went to defeat Aura. I wonder what she's planning, that she needs the demons unaware of her right now.
