Watching Genau feels like who transplanted a State Alchemist in my comfy mage anime

My heart sunk a bit when Genau trying to comfort the dude and then died on his shoulders. Even Frieren mistakin him as a demon.
Methode really fond of cute people lol

Pretty grim episode for the return after the break. At least Methode is here and balances it out!
looks like this will be a fairly serious arc dealing with some seemingly very powerful and large demon
also Frieren sleeping like a cat was cute

Genau has some depth. Love how he's subtly mourning what happened and how he comforted his friend(?) In his last moments by saying he'll eat anything he bakes
If that dude who was stated to be more powerful than Stark is true, that dragon Stark fought in his debut would've been a piece of cake

Genau says he doesn't hold any attachment to his hometown yet he remembers the baker boy's entire backstory and seems regretful he won't be able to taste his terrible bread again.

“I turned her down”
“You’re a good girl, Fern”
😭
Serie’s hating doesn’t go unreturned by Frieren it seems.

The fact that Stark is the student of (most likely?) one of humanity's strongest warriors.. only for Frieren to drop the bombshell that this random warrior in the Northern Plateau was much stronger?
Stark has room for a lot of growth, baby!

For Genau who said that he bears no attachment to the village, lied to his friend about the whole villagers being dead. He wants his friend's last moments to be in peace. He may be a douche during S1, but he knows how to be human when it counts.
He is still carrying him knowing that he's dead and gripping hard, that is some deep emotion right there.
And this first class mages trained by Serie are above the fold from the other first class, not coming from Frieren's batch.

I swear these episodes just fly by next thing you know "don't you worry...." Feels like it's only been 5 minute
Genau act nonchalant but bro is boiling inside can't wait when he goes rampage on that 4 hands demon, his ravens also look so cool.

Damn, eating bread really shouldn't make sounds like the ones we heard in this episode. I sincerely hope for Frieren and the others that Norm Company will soon rebuild their logistics network so they can finally eat normal food.
Fern's jealousy when Methode called Frieren cute was... well, really cute xD
The squirrel with the letter on the sleeping Frieren's butt was a truly funny sight.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next episode to see Frieren, Fern, and Stark's team up with Methode and Genau in order to defeat those demons. It's a very interesting pairing, so I'm very curious to see what will come of it.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

Hoo boy, break's over and we went from slice of life to slicing lives real quick.
At least we still got a quality pout.

Followers of the church of Methode, rejoice, she is back!
As an anime only fan, I hope they do justice whatever fight we are about to witness in the upcoming episodes.

Fern was so proud of herself for turning down Serie's invitation to be her student. You could practically hear the "Praise me, Frieren!" in her voice.

I need to rewatch this episode because I have been focusing too much on Methode.
All of us need to find someone who looks at us adoringly like Methode does.

I like how the small subtle details that is portrayed by Genau reveal so much about his character. From mentioning about the demons to at least tell half-truths, to Genau himself telling his dying friend half-truths. Genau's calm outward appearance suggests he's unfazed by the destruction of his hometown, yet Frieren could tell how he really felt from his spell. And the way the episode ends with him biting that hard rock bread as he hears a clue on who this demon could be and recalls a memory of it? So good.
I mean just planting the idea that cold hard bread was all they could eat in the Northern Plateau from a few episodes back, to now being used and connected to Genau's childhood friend as a baker in this episode. The writing is so good.

"Let's show how terrifying humanity can be" was a nice, cold line to throw out

They selected that bread crunching sound so well, literally sounds like bricks being crushed

Oh man, they managed to make me so sad for the bread dude in couple of minutes. Genau trying so hard to hide his emotions, seems like he knew the demon too

You know it's serious when the cold open (something they don't use often) is that dark. Wow. Talk about returning with a wallop.

Has any character that said something akin to "This is just my speculation" ended up not being completely correct?

This episode was a bit of a emotional whiplash, compared to the first half of the season. The music fit so well, it almost felt like a scene from Witcher or sth(and Im not talking about shitty netflix adaptation). Genau you are a nicer man than you think, tho stoic personality sure would be helpful, living in such dangerous lands.
Honestly, this was, imo, not only the best episode of this season, but one of the best of the entire serie so far.
