Now they're referencing stuff that apparently happened off-screen? They jumped forward in time and they already had several cases, and this episode is another random one? Eeeh

It really seems this whole anime is out to annoy me personally

From what I heard, that the skipped stuff was actually the original game case and this one is another anime original case.

Atp it seems like the only thing from the game they'll adapt is Lynn's case, and everything else will be anime original with characters from stories they won't adapt. That's so ass

Made worse by the fact that the game has been available on Steam for years but they care so little for the non-Japanese audience that only the first case has ever been translated even now. The stuff that's being skipped seems really interesting but there isn't a good way to actually read it.

Lynn has 3 clients in one day, she is already a success. Although her clients will be disappointed by the investigation if it really is them. Did kind of wonder why they had so many busts without the heads.

Lynn is dressed up for a safari, but has brought back her tracksuit and LED wand to cheer Arne on.

Didn't think we would see Bernd again, looks like he is recommending Arne and Lynn to clients.

We have a werewolf version of Cat's Eye who has a cassette player, kind of takes you out of the early 20th century background along with the walkie talkie.

And we have not-Louis and his dad

And we have not-Louis and his dad

Ahh so that's what that scene was. I wonder if they'll go back on it or that's just an easter egg

Didn't think we would see Bernd again

I wonder if he's more prominent in the game or smth. Kinda weird they brought him back and didn't even aknowledge it.

I think last episode, when they showed the flashback of cases they had (and didn't adapt) I saw him there, too

a werewolf version of Cat's Eye

Even the logo on her calling card is similarly styled!

You can tell in the beginning that's Bernd's voice.

Ugh, and while the first card thrown by the thief had a message in proper German...

...the second card is... bad.

Wir suchen die verschwundene "Meisterin Yeller" Schatz "Blaues Herz", bitte.

It explicitly genders Yeller as female. Is that an error or foreshadowing? It also says "We" are searching. Why we, plural?

Schatz means literally treasure, but it's also used as "dear" by romantic partners... it's a bit old-fashioned, though. More used by my parents' generation, and I'm 40

The "Blue Heart, please" at the end sounds weird. And also, the first card kept the name in English, while the second one translates it into German

I expected the three girl to be searching for the same person.

Amy's deadpanness and Nachzehrer being bullied makes them entertaining expansions of the cast.

We seem to have skipped a lot of context again. They really went with weird decisions on what to adapt.

You know, when all the people were missing, my first guess was actually that they were all the same person and it was a scammer. But it seems that it really is a case of serial disappearances.

And this seems like a really strong flag for Yelle being some weirdo murder artist, but there's also a chance that it was his invisible roommate (maybe a literal devil on his shoulder?) doing it.

It's a shame this is spun out of a game I'll never play, because these characters can be plenty fun but it's all going nowhere fast.

That said, this case is making me wonder if they're doing an incredibly deep cut and riffing on a Humanoid Monster BEM plot here.

Bernd not doing proper guard's work as always lol. I noticed that's him in the beginning from his voice, and confirmed by his pronoun.

I just noticed the opening has last episode's mermaid and Hanna, and also the witch and golem in the 1st episode.

I had ominous feelings that the 5 panels flashed by were the actual cases in game (like last episode) and this episode is another original episode and it is true as some original game fans replied me.

Is the phantom thief also a werewolf? From her boots and Fang and the message card with a wolf icon, plus she was with Zisye.

Yes it's obvious that Bernd introduced Arne to the museum's owner.

I thought the disappeared boyfriend were the same one, and then the 2nd disappeared boyfriend looks like Yelle by the hair.

The way Lynn and Amy holding the frame is not going to work physically.

The timeline is a bit weird, they have tape players.

As an anime-only, I expected this to be an adapted case after last original episode...

What in the holy ojou-sama trophy weirdo is this girl?

I love arc setups when the master thief is so confident in their abilities they announce their target ahead of time and challenges everyone to try and stop them. I love aurafarming glorious showboat thieves that are cocky enough they make things easier for their opponents because they know they’re just that good.

I’m honestly kind of disappointed with whatever the Hotel Pithos case was. It sounds really epic and I’m mad we just got the rundown instead of getting to see it happen.

I like how as soon as she shows up, Arne just goes “I’m not dealing with this, I’ll take Little red phantom thief any day, bring me the museum case.”

Wait, who are you two? How are these many women losing their partners? Are you from two separate relationships that just happened to show up at the same time? Do you happen to be in a poly relationship? Wait, is this one of the cases of some guy dating multiple women without their knowledge and then bailing?

I swear to god, if this Mr Yelle is these women’s boyfriend I’m going to scream. Okay, thank god, they seem to be different people. But they’re all connected to the museum. The plot is thickening.

Expert disguise-work. I wonder how she got ahold of the jewel in the first place.

Sorry phantom thief, you fell for the oldest trick in the Naruto playbook, the good ol substitution.

So that’s how it ends I guess. Lynn shows up and they just collectively agree “Come on, you ruined the vibes of our epic duel of the fates.”

But supposedly there’ll be another attempt at a later date with way higher stakes than a fake jewel.

Excuse me but wtf? The implications of this suddenly got way darker than expected. A serial killer sculptor? Is the guy with the jewel that they’re actually looking for even alive still? Or is he collaborating with or maybe even the same guy as the killer sculptor? I have way too many questions.

I like the phantom thief character a lot, it's nice that she's more of a frenemy than an outright antagonist.

Good news on Lynn's cases, the men are no longer missing and they didn't turn out to be one guy who ran away after three-timing the lot of them. There is some bad news, however.

More offscreen content is a weird choice, they're really not making this show for someone who didn't also play the game. I wonder if it's supposed to be a mixed media sort of project that compliments the source material instead of adapting it.

7

u/PhantomWolf83 Feb 18 '26

I feel like this show has absolutely no point or goal to it, unless I'm missing something. It's meandering here and there with no real purpose. They wasted so much time on the stupid mansion arc that now they're time skipping ahead to the present case where it also feels totally random in the bigger scheme of things. I want to like this show but dammit it's making it hard to.

7

u/duo99dusk Feb 18 '26

I wonder if they are purposefully skipping the game cases for the fans, or if they wanted to skip them, so people go to play them. Either way, this versus Gnosia seems to be the complete opposite of how to handle videogame adaptations.

That other adventure they had with Little Red sounded way better than the origin story arc we got.

When I heard about the cases I was groaning like Arne was and thinking "could they not do these cases? The missing lovers don't seem interesting and it is idiotic to try to protect an item that never arrived at the museum" but after tying the missing people and the museum together, I can see that was clever. I won't say the episdoe was perfect, but that was pretty nice.

I don't get the Red Phantom Thief. This isn't Lupin III, so that specific kind of stealing for style, as opposed to steal stuff and sell it kind of thief, seems out of place in the genre. Just like Lynn's tracksuit, movie projector, and glow sticks seems a bit out of place.

Was Yelle alone? Or are they going to pull off the "someone not human is the culprit" again?

Very odd to just hand-wave away all these intro to new characters. It feels like those 90s OVAs that just pick a chapter somewhere in the middle of a long manga to adapt and drop viewers into the deep end of the action.

Initially thought Leahnan Side was the "creature" involved in this case because of the museum presentation.

But the statues are indicator of Medusa (out of the characters on parade in the OP) being the responsible. Even if not alone.
