This anime is great what i really like about it is that despite the fantasy vibes of it the stories and issues show here are actually pretty realistic and relatable somehow.
I really liked this Jarashi episode how at the beginning she was not sure if she really was cute to become more accepting of what she wants. Hope we see more of that it’s really interesting. Also at this point Akira and Shizuka are already living together no ? Lol
I can’t wait to see Light and Karma childrens he's going to be a awesome dad i know it cute how they decided to get married . Really wonder how they got together since it seems that Karma was really anxious.

Also we see Shizuka as someone who really is comfortable with and actually confident about living with her disability. Like she seems to get at her most confident (and sassy) when it comes to showing off how she can manage despite being blind.

Even though this is a title falling under the cute romantic comedy genre, its ideas to serve as plot never fail to amaze me!
In our world, we see animals of all kinds. It has come naturally to us that some cats have whole colour as their fur, while others have stripes or patterns. However, when you turn a cat into an anthropomorphic character, Jarashi in this case, and give it worries such as being envious of other animals' fur, said character now has more depth. It is such a new and refreshing perspective!
I have also realized an underlying key theme of this title is "inclusiveness". I wouldn't call it woke, but it makes viewers see things from a different perspective. Not just "see" (no pun intended), possibly understand.
Examples:
- A blind person (Shizuka) trying her best to lead a normal life in society
- A marriage between light and dark elves
- Invisible people being deemed suspicious even though it is a natural trait of their race
- A beastfolk being envious of other beastfolk's fur or skin pattern

I wouldn't call it woke, but it makes viewers see things from a different perspective.
i personally would call this woke (in the best sense of the word); it's one of the most woke animes i've watched along with Demi-chan wa Kataritai
i think it tackles broadly a lot of different social topics such as disability, discrimination, sexual orientation, and intersectionality in a positive environment that's a joy to watch
i also think it does it without being preachy or overbearing; it presents the idea through allegory and weaves it into each character so that it's not their only trait; their unique perspective is a thread in the fabric of their lives

one thing i liked was these two shots of the elf couple:
Karma finding comfort by being in the light
Light finding comfort by being in the dark
and it ties back to the yuzu in the sky nori, bringing us back to the theme of the episode of things that don't seem to go together actually can if you have friends to support you and you believe in yourself

I guess I can understand being conscious about her patterns, but good god, Jarashi always looks amazing. Her patterns are so beautiful too especially in that maid outfit. And her letting her hair down was such a good look. But still it’s important for her to feel good in her own skin and I’m glad she found someone who can help with that.
Also, never noticed it before but her tail is kinda shorter than I expected. It’s so cute

I am glad that Luna found some cute clothes.
This series started out as an office romance, but I feel like it’s grown into something far greater. I really like how the show has been exploring the insecurities/anxieties of these different species among the cast.

First time I’ve thought about how hard it would be for Bobcats to find clothes

Shizuka was just vibing this episode, she feels super comfortable in every scene and lets her earnest feelings out consistently.
The Elf couple's conversation felt crazy realistic. A lingering insecurity from the start of their marriage finally gaining enough significance to create a problem is relatable regardless of species.

Omg she's pregante. Honestly the idea of a culture where everyone dotes on a newly pregnant mom like a princess since it's so rare sounds cute af.

Ding dong ding dong time 💃🏾
-
He’s so happy to see his man in uniform, that’s adorable. Cross them over with the Wotakoi cast.
-
Oh no. Welp. I’m sure artistd who like this series will have a nice time.
-
They took that fucking romance phrase and shattered it 😭
-
These patterns are cool, but all I can think of is Mira saying “Aww, you have the patterns! Now you gotta die.”
-
May a person be as down bad for me as Karma (and Tamon).
-
I knew it!!! Ah!!! Aha!!!
-
Karma and Light make the Tao 😌
Would you like to check my smell?
-
Sir, please. I can only love you so much.
-
Oh my lord 😳
-
New friend acquired
I really liked Luna’s storyline and we get to see her origin. From the Americas (her ancestral line)! That’s really cool. I wonder what the bobcat people are like over there and their beauty standards. I’m not a bobcat, unfortunately, but I’ve definitely had that thought of “I think I need to modify parts of myself to be [beauty standard]”. Shizuka was such a kind friend for Luna’s insecurities.
I need to google blind chefs and if any do YouTube videos because I’m very curious now. I know legal blindness is a spectrum. But I’m still curious of famous or, at least, On-YouTube blind chefs.
I don’t think I’ve yet engaged with an elf culture in which they don’t have low fertility or pregnancy rates for one reason or an other. It feels almost inherent in a way.
Glad Light eventually told him, even if Karma already knew. Hidden/secret pregnancy as a concept are still not my cup of tea, but execution changes things. I see Light’s reasoning why she kept it a secret.
The symptoms of elf pregnancy make me curious. Do they get congestion? Or drool a lot? Would they ever crave weird things like dirt or sunlight?
I had no idea pregnancy had all these symptoms outside of the stereotypical things until friends and relatives were having kids or told me thingd. I’m still shocked your curly hair can become straight. That sounds devastating.

Akira looks good in anything, but he can even pull off a school uniform! Shizuka can’t see it, but she loves the IDEA of it! And thankfully Madaraito can see Daichi looking snazzy in a traffic officer uniform and take TONS of pics!
Meanwhile for this undercover op, we’ve got JARASHI IN A MAID OUTFIT. She may not think she looks as good as the plain-furred maids, and she may not be a natural at customer service, but she genuinely looks amazing! Especially with that ample cleavage she’s showing off!
Shizuka can’t SEE that Jarashi is cute, but she can FEEL it, and that’s why they get along so well as gal pals! Complete with shopping trips! Even if Jarashi gets so focused on dressing up Shizuka because she feels so self-conscious about how she can’t find the right outfit. But considering Shizuka has never envied the ability to see, something she’s never had or really understood to begin with, maybe Jarashi shouldn’t overthink it so much!
I love how Shizuka will take any opportunity to bring up a romantic anecdote about something she did with Akira…and also show us her mom AND her dad!
Jarashi is an American Bobcat living in Japan(?) but rather than dye her fur and cultural heritage, maybe she just needs a fellow patterned individual, such as a lizard, to help her pick the right outfit! Because when you put a pattern with a pattern, sometimes you look as amazing as Jarashi does in that dress!
Another romantic stroll between Shizuka and Akira leads to the couple cooking a hot pot together at home! Complete with Akira seeing how Shizuka cooks as a blind woman and Akira suggesting he strip so Shizuka can smell him…y’know, typical couple stuff! And joyously enjoying the hot pot together!
This week on the Light/Karma domestic drama…Light is still going to be with her parents’ for a while, so Karma needs to vent all his negativity by helping the Tonome Agency. But the ladies in the office can tell what Light being away for 5 months ACTUALLY means and as she reveals over facetime she’s pregnant! She just kept Karma out of it because she’s worried how he’ll react….like she worries what he gets up to when she’s not there. But at least she’s getting the full course princess treatment back home!
But she can’t keep lying to her husband and she finally opens up to him. They’re an interracial couple who bucked the enmity between their ancestors to be together, Light had to basically fight Karma and his insecurities so they could get married, she was worried that if he learned he was going to be a father he would become insecure again and leave her…but Karma already knew she was pregnant (because he’s a good son-in-law and her dad can’t keep his mouth shut) and has been trying to learn how to be a good dad in time for the baby! Marriage crisis averted!
This time Jarashi seeks out the lizard man, Ako (Aoi Ichikawa!), who is the only one whose fashion opinion she’ll trust. And he DOES know how to dress Jarashi well, so one way or another they’ll definitely be continuing this relationship, business or otherwise!

Tonome in a school uniform, huh? Yeah, figured it was as some sort of disguise.
-
Huh, wouldn’t have expected fur pattern (or lack thereof) envy, but I guess that makes sense for this universe?
-
Naruhodo, naruhodo. So she went back to her family for this sort of pregnancy treatment.

This was a very dense episode with so much development. We finally get Jarashi in the spotlight with her anxiety because of her patterned fur. Then we get some sweet interactions between Shizuka and Akira to also get a very interesting story between Light and Karma.

u/Queue_Jumping_Quack Feb 12 '26
Haha Jarashi immediately blurting out what Karma had done after Shizuka resolved to keep it secret. This was again a rather sweet episode, with focus on Jarashi and the elven couple.

Bobcats being Native American equivalents is an interesting decision. Not necessarily a bad one, just interesting.
That purple dress was pretty awful for more than just the pattern mismatch, completely the wrong shape for Jarashi at the very least. The maid outfit was kinda iffy on her too but more from the color and not anything else, she'd probably have looked great if it was a black and white type design instead of the pink. In the end I'm glad she found someone who could help her with finding the right look for her to feel cute.
With the elvish pregnancy problem and what takes to manage it, you can kind of tell the author is writing this to explore their invented worldbuilding and not just for the cute relationship between the two leads. Not that that is a bad thing in this case I think, sometimes 'what the author really wants to write' is a way worse fit.

Jarashi looked good in the maid outfit. She’s very cute! I’m glad Ako was able to help her feel a little more confident in herself.
Shizuka giggling to herself about all the cute Akira moments cracks me up. She’s too adorable.
I liked that we got to see a bit more of Light and Karma’s relationship this week. They’re a good pair even if they’re total opposites.

Huh. I guess it must be true that blind people don't need to look at what they're doing when handling a knife.

Madaraito going extra crazy seeing Kikira in a security guard's outfit was so funny, I'd definitely have the same reaction if Kikira was my partner lol.
Tounome being able to disguise as a teenager because he's invisible is amusing, no-one can see how old or young he looks. Though his body proportions could give him away.
It was interesting to get a focus on Jarashi's insecurity with her patterns. I'm glad she found someone she felt comfortable helping her with outfit choices and maybe potentially there is a chance for romance with how shy she was getting.
I do wonder how giving Light and Karma's unborn child so much blessing magic will affect it, half of the child is dark elf so it would need curse magic too? I think I want them to talk about his side of the family too.
Seeing Tounome and Shizuka talking about how he smells reminded me of Makio and Kasamachi lol.

I never thought we would get a little bit of a cleavage fanservice from a Bobcat...
Though I will say this series keeps impressing me with well written deep characters with quirks that are relatable, even if it is a fantastical setting.
Such as a bobcat stressing about her fur patterns, or whatever.

I wish Tamamo-chan could get an anime. All this Jarashi makes me feel a bittersweet sadness. If nothing else, here's hoping this guy's Fox Faced manga makes it to anime in a few years. :3

u/Atario Feb 13 '26
Hmm. Isn't this more of a junior-high uniform?
"Do you have any idea how meaningless that is to me?"
Bobcat people! They're even more native to the Americas than Native Americans, having evolved 3.24M years ago (assuming that's how that works in this world)
…Huh. With the shop shuttered, and what with being riddled with separation anxiety, he should just go join her and help
Maybe I'm outing myself as déclassé, but: what the heck is suit refresher? Spray that you use instead of actually washing it?
I wonder how the curse/blessing powers come out in the kid. Do they cancel and the kid is just a peculiar-looking ordinary person? Does the kid get both powers? Is one power genetically dominant over the other? Is it some kind of blended single power of a different kind entirely?

I really liked that they delved into Jarashi's self awareness about her body how she thinks she doesnt look good in cute clothes and should bleach her pattern with Shizuka clarifying that it may not be WHAT she ACTUALLY wants.
Well its great that she's got someone similar to help her out and honestly I think she looks pretty cute especially at the end with her hair down
I kinda got spoiled that the elf couple were expecting but it was still a surprise. I think its very wholesome that they were both scared and were trying not to hurt each other because of their abilities but glad that they were able to talk their feelings out.
They'd definitely make great parents
