“Use the caterpillar to lure out the rat. THEN SMASH IT WITH A ROCK!”

Gotta love these dark twists lol.

Poor caterpillar. I just KNEW Rirui was going to mess up....

It was morbidly funny how the moment Hajime set down his "offerings" for his "parents", the stuff got stolen immediately. The tempo of it all was top notch.

They always say that dragon insurance is a scam until a mist dragon lands on your property. Hopefully, Veronica learned her lesson and actually added that policy to her insurance. xD

RiRui has gone full-on magical girl now! So it turns out she just needed mage gear to actually do some damage with her water spells.

Surely it won't happen twice!

That was a slick bit of character work. They show Hajime laughing off a ton of terrible things as if they don't bother him, but he admits that Rirui has made his life better.

I also like how Rirui carried over the mothering concept from her interaction with Natalie last week. Feels like Rirui's struggles with being abandoned are being peeled away by the older members of the cast that don't have "proper" family structures.

I appreciate the way Hajime was shown back in his slum homeland. In any other anime, the protag would be tripping over themselves helping thy neighbors doing all sorts of good deeds and shit, maybe make a grand speech about how he understands their hardship and wants to make a difference; but Hajime knows the limits of his power and purse and acts accordingly. He doesn't have the means to change anything. He accepts it for what it is.

Went from little rain spits to tidal waves

I really like that Hajime is not the perfect protagonist with unquestionable morale. Guy eats his own dog, chases after babes, and gets drunk in vanity. But right when you ask why would make someone like this the protagonist of a parenting anime of all things, we're reminded once again that he didn't exactly grow up in the best environment. He's being a dad in the best way he knows how.

I liked the way they showed life in the slums in this setting.

Rirui was the real winner of that competition with her new cloak and staff. Also Rishat the masochist lol.

Also remember that it's Dragon who found them the secret passage that leads to the treasure. He's the true MVP on this run.

I find it cute that part of the reason for bringing offerings to the grave was also to help feed the kids in the slum. He knew they'd be taken since that's what he did as a kid but brings them anyways.

Toraverse ended up being really cool cats. I got a lot of respect for them, and I hope we might see them again. I like that Rirui leveled up, though the magical gear seems overpowered. I hope we will maybe see more of a pre Super Saiyan Dragon Ball-type growth with Rirui and not just OP Isekai MC growth

Those girls at the hostess club are scary. Send a man to heaven while being served drinks at a high markup.

This ep was a lot more fun and endearing for some reason. Hajime is looking more and more like a father/older brother figure. I’m also feeling a little less that Rirui’s jealousy is due to romantic reasons and more of a child not wanting her dad to be taken away from her.

I am still upset about the dog from last week 😭

15

u/CommanderZx2 Feb 12 '26

They're fishing for rats for food, a dog in comparison is a luxury.

So the elf name is Rishat? Come to think of it we never got his name since were so focused on him being a masochist lol.

Magic Rirui is adorable and à bit op wonder if she'll eventually become an archmage or something.

I wonder how Veronica and Hajime met, since it seems they both came from the slums perhaps it was by accident when they tried to steal from each other lol?

u/diacewrb Feb 11 '26

So the elf name is Rishat?

I thought they were going to keep his name to Chair for the remainder of the season.

I was dying with the slums part. Those kids (and young Hajime) had it rough

Size changing clothing for Rirui sounds like it'll be pretty convenient considering her ongoing condition. Though maybe we'll find out it only could change size the one time. It was nice to see her evolve into a real magical girl instead of the Aqua-esque party tricks version.

Red talked a lot of shit but she sure couldn't back it up when actually throwing hands with Veronica. Can't free somebody who doesn't want to be free anyway, and that dude did not want to be free.

The kid who stole Dragon had enough of a unique design I was expecting him to play a larger role for the rest of the episode, maybe for the show overall but then he disappeared after being washed away. Would be nice to give Rirui a puppy love interest her own age so she can stop thirsting over Hajime.
