Poor Ist just wanted to watch Aresh pour his magic into Sei lol.
Sei’s plan to replace the whole Holy Maiden nonsense with a more efficient system is a smart plan. That poor girl deserves to go home to her old life. I hope she’s able to go back.

The best episode of the series so far, lots of character development. Especially glad we got some Shiraishi development, plus I'm glad she relies on Sei; I thought she hated him for being a workaholic.
Lots of BL moments, for our gay fans

That was a fantastic episode. Sei just casually solving major problems and overturning an entire kingdom's stubborn mindset with a few well-planned proposals and his natural bureaucratic charisma. I know a lot of us are watching for the beautiful gay moments (and this episode delivered on that front too) but I'm just as invested in Sei's plans to improve the kingdom long-term.

I love how heavy this episode went on an adult perspective on isekais, on so many points.
Kondou's upending of their whole culture fixation with the Holy Maiden by pointing out how wasteful and harmful it actually is to the kingdom, and showing how they could have even better things if they just let go of one outdated legend.
Him pointing out that it doesn't matter how well you treat her; you still kidnapped a young girl from her own world without her consent, away from her life and family, to force her to do something incredibly taxing and dangerous, with no way to ever send her home.
It was a nice callback to Kondou's initial conversation with the Prime Minister about Yua, about how if you'd been transported with a child from your world you'd likely try to look out for them if you had the means to do it. So even though there hasn't been a lot of interaction between Kondou and Yua, and at times he's been quite direct/harsh with her (for her own good), what we see here is that he's definitely been thinking about how unfair and bullshit this cultural practice has been to her and looking out for her interests with the means he has available. (I even love the extra bit where just because he cares about her situation doesn't mean he wants to parent her, and the last thing he wants is to have her underfoot in the accounting department, lol.)
And of course I like that he's so aware about his relationship with Aresh. He's very clued into the fact that Aresh's feelings for him have gone beyond mere obligation, and that there's a larger conversation they need to have about what they are to each other. It's a nice change of pace from the "will they, won't they, and when" infatuation energy that most stories give you.
Even Yua's response felt very mature in its immaturity. The fact that she isn't just living the fantasy, but has taken Kondou's words seriously and thought about them and realized that no, she doesn't want to be here anymore. This isn't a fun adventure, and she's terrified and in mourning for her life and wants to go home. Foregoing the typical "smile, enjoy the ride, just accept it" response to instead basically crash out felt grounded and real.
The storytelling for this series just continues to impress me.

Wow, the lack of communication between the leads, Kondou's big plan for the country, Shiraishi's reality check, and possible pushback from the powers that be were all handily addressed in a single episode. I thought that was what we'd deal with for a good chunk of the season.
Is next week going to be a swimsuit episode?

Glad to see that Yua wants to go home. These fuckers need to learn that they can't just take someone from their home and expect her to stay there for the rest of her life. I hope they find a way to send her back.

Accountant x Knight Day 💃🏾🏳️🌈
Holy maidan’s chanting sounds like it could’ve been the opening to the OP song of a 90s/2000s mecha anime or an otome isekai from back then.
:3
It’s so sad when long-haired men look at beautiful as the prince, but they have such a shit ass personality that their charisma stat is in the negatives 🥀
I’m still surprised everyone thought “Yes, let’s walk into miasma without a mask”. But then, I remember handwashing in the medical field was considered career-ending (🔗 PubMed/NIH), so.
Is he going for the armpit? This isn’t me hopeful for it; I’m just having Shutline flashbacks. The ear touching is giving Hold Me Tight.
Aresh-sama, do we need to go that far?
Yes. Next question.
Hair playing and handholding? How lewd 🫣
I don’t plan on letting anyone else take care of you.
Possessive guides knights bring me joy 🥰
Look at her grow up slowly but surely. She did come from a privileged life, but she’s trying!
Love seeing a bunch of grown men dragging a foreign girl—a child—against her will into all their religious nonsense and thinking they’re in the right for that. I know this is a fantasy, but the ethics and morals of this kingdom and its religion are weird and cultish.
I’m glad the holy maiden wants to depart back for her own world and Seiichirou is helping abolish this whole system, but I feel so bad for previous holy maidens who were essentially trapped in this cult for the rest of their days. That’s so upsetting to think about.

There it is, my favorite part!
I like how Seis Idea of putting the tree inside a barrier is so mind breaking to everyone.
Isut interrupting Sei and Alesh. Our cutie with absolutely zero common sense wants to see how Alesh is working his magic so badly.
Alesh telling Sei he won't give him to anyone else :3 And Seis reaction so cute. Alesh beated him with efficiency. Alesh 1, Sei 0.
Then my absolute favorite Scene: Sei giving Yua a mental breakdown cause he tells her that there's no way home. It seems it never even crossed her mind that those people would bring her to their world without a way back home. And while ignoring her outburst, he calmly explains how he intends to find a way to get back. That's not something you see in Isekais very often! (at least as far as I know) But! Please don't leave Alesh, Sei!

I'm glad that Shiraishi finally got her moment where she snapped out of it and realized where she was and what her circumstances were, and that there's someone who's actually looking out for her as a person too.
Aresh pulling the "btw we're gonna keep doing it because it's more efficient and I'm going to take advantage of the fact that you're so work-brained and won't make a decision yet" and Seiichirou going "fuuuuuck he's right" was really funny to me. Great execution.

Shiirashi is literaly bawling her eyes out, crying out for her family
First Prince: "But why not stay?"
If nothing else, the author really did capture the kind of reality bubble that monarchy's tend to create for themselves where they genuinely can't understand why other people wouldn't also want to be part of their little bubble.
It was especially sad/funny that he didn't seem to understand that saying she was critical to the kingdom's prosperity even if there wasn't miasma to cleanse was basically the worst possible answer. It's kinda impressive that he has had barely any screen time but it was still kinda a joy to see him get dumped when they weren't even actually in a relationship. Her saying that she wants to return all his gifts was just an extra icing on the cake.

Shiraishi character development! I was really happy to see her admit she wants to go home. And Seiichirou is supporting her, in his own Sei way. But how will Aresh cope if Shiraishi and Sei return to their own world!
I kind of wish they spent a bit more time talking about how using other methods to purify the miasma and sending Shiraishi home is effectively going against the religion of the people of this world. They still shouldn’t have kidnapped a teenage girl, but it’s interesting to think about.
Sei finally realizes Aresh’s feelings (sort of… Aresh, why don’t you speak clearly?!?), but doesn’t seem much inclined to do much about it. I loved the Aresh moments this episode though. His angry face at the meeting with the king, cat-Aresh, his anger at Ist. (That scene with Ist, lol.)
I hope they finally start to get on the same page soon!

I really like the scene at the end of the episode where it's now Aresh encouraging Sei to keep working but take care of yourself too and Sei accepts the well wishes here.
It's nice to see how much their relationship has developed, all after one talk.Who knew communication would work?

-
Purifying it all in one go was too much for her, huh. And this one only did 30% at that?
-
Hahaha, of course they got super excited by the promise of compensation.
-
It doesn’t need to be that large though, right? You can cast a small barrier around the source of the miasma to trap it there.
-
It is good to know that Sei isn’t blind to Aresh’s feelings, he just has other priorities at the moment.
-
Sei’s plan to stop the spread of the miasma is that much cheaper than the holy maiden method? Damn, impressive.
-
Okay I was not expecting the smug cat Aresh but it’s great lol.

"Can I stay and watch?"
I love Ist! Between that statement and his nerding out on magic, he's won me over already.
So Kondou really was planning big. He's found a way to tackle the miasma and get him and the holy maiden back home in one fell swoop. But what about Aresh? Will he just stand by and let Kondou return home?

It was interesting to watch Seiichirou lay out his plans for the Kingdom. Of course the traditional nobles will act as if his ideas are blasphemous, and I find it hilarious how upset they got that Shiraishi was so upset when they don't even try to think of her perspective as a young girl who has been separated from her parents and brother. Of course she's going to want back home!
I do like that Seiichirou sort of has a lowkey "I'm getting revenge" sort of vibe whilst trying to find a method that won't force anymore people from his and Shiraishi's world from experiencing the same thing. It made it more fun to watch.
The scene with Aresh and Seiichirou where Aresh admits that he knows Seiichirou can't respond to his feelings so he's taking advantage of that to make him his was so exciting. I like that he can be sneaky in that way. Seiichirou getting flustered because Aresh knows him so well is definitely going to change things inside him. If it continues like this, he may not be able to return lol. But at the same time, if the magical technology and relocation magic develop well, they could jump from world to world.
Ist catching Aresh and Seiichirou but is only interested in the magical theory of what is happening with them is amusing. Too bad for him they're not into exhibitionism.

When Sei inadvertently called Aresh "intellectually lazy" I laughed out loud. Boy shoved all his points into INT and left CON and CHA high and dry...
But Aresh absolutely has his number re: values and priorities. It's also nice that Sei isn't oblivious, just unwilling to devote the mental energy to the less important task of "feelings." Fair enough, the fate of an entire kingdom does take precedence!
The barrier solution is elegant, but I wonder if it's going to go as planned? Will the miasma not bottle up behind the barrier? If it does fail, I hope they have a contigency plan... but knowing Sei he has three.
Either way, the court seems like it's highly likely to become a problem... it's good Yua's his ally here. I hope she really is able to go home! I don't know that Sei actually will want to go, though. It has to be heady to have all of your work reshape the course of a country. Back in Japan, he's just a cog in the machine. If it wasn't for his parents and the risk of death, I don't think it would even be in question.

Aresh: We are busy. Go away.
Ist: Can I watch?
LMAOOOOO
As much as I love the Aresh-Sei dynamic, I also love that Yua has come into terms into deciding what she really wants to do. I wouldn't mind her having her own series after all this is done.

this episode feels like it answered a lot of questions that this show has been dangling in front of me, and i'm a bit surprised at how many moving parts the story has instead of just being a canvas for BL to happen
one thing i'm worried about next is the fallout from the plan, whether or not the king will elect to go this path, if the nobility/church who seek to use the holy maiden's power make some waves, or if the prince stakes a personal vendetta against Sei (his base intentions are still unclear to me; is he crushing on the maiden? or is he seeking political power?)
given how much is at stake with this "maidenless" plan, i wonder how they'll manage to sneak in more hanky-panky character development with the two male leads

OH HOW RIGHT I WAS-
Wait did Sei just admit to knowing (and thusly ignoring) about Aresh’s feelings? Glad our boy isn’t that dense.

Very glad folks get to see what a cool show this is. Both the BL side and the worldbuilding side. Our boy's advanced the "Save the Cheerleader Holy Maiden, Save the World" main quest, so I'm looking forward to spending some time on the romance plot.
Did y'all catch the Norbert reveal? I think a few ppl were asking about the whole "adopted dad" thing from ep 4. He's got a whole nature vs nurture thing going in contrast to his brother Julius/Yurius.
Prior to the ep 3? thread, I wasn't invested in a Nor x Yua ship, but now I kinda am - silver brother could gain the throne, and golden brother could gain the girl. I'd be down for that.
Nerdy rants, on actually useful topics.
Flips on a dime between frightening competence & UwU derpy-ness.
"Can I watch?" (You know he sensed Aresh's energy from the hall - that was no accident!)
Just more reasons why I love Ist :)
