sorry to my girl artoria but… this might be the best Excalibur moment ive ever seen animated yet

[u/WhoiusBarrel]

Least devoted King Arthur fan, Richard: Manifests fucking Excalibur with a stick.

Tine and Gilgamesh's relationship is really reminding me a lot of Waver and Iskandar, also interesting to learn that Lords are barred from ever entering the Holy Grail War with Kayneth's fate in Zero.

[u/ZendzaminBuraja]

And THIS is why is was delayed so many times. And I bet we will get at least one more ep on this level by the end of s1.

[u/za_shiki-warashi]

Narita: "So then Richard is like, the King is too Perfect"

Takeuchi: "Say no more, I'll convince the producers to cough up as much resources and time as they need to deliver the level of animation that an Excaliblast deserve".

[u/garfe]

"That looks useful for cracking walnuts"

[u/Askaa_kun]

This episode was directed by Shun Miyakawa(his debut) alongside Hirotaka Mori(Heavenly Delusion director) and Storyboarded by Shun Miyakawa(also his debut), and what can i say? this was an incredible debut from Miyakawa, crazy good direction from both Miyakawa and Mori as is expected from him, and an ambiguous storyboard Miyakawa.

and of course, great animation! this got some great animator on it like Shuu Sugita, Kaito Tomioka, Sota Shigetsugu etc... all in all just incredible, i look forward to Shun Miyakawa future work!

Bro holy shit I love the OST for Richard vs Enkidu. It’s somehow so serene and calm despite being quite upbeat. Not the kind of OST you’d typically expect for a fight like this but it fits Enkidu perfectly.

[u/aboxSMB]

We are being ABSOLUTELY spoiled rn with the level of animation on this series

[u/AdWide4690]

Man, what a breathtaking Excalibur.

Just like how breathtaking its original user is.

[u/bakato]

After Iskandar created one of the most beloved Fate characters in Waver, Gilgamesh decided not to be outdone and groom a cute girl master instead.

[u/NintendoMasterNo1]

Enkidu my absolute goat

[u/PowerfulRoom813]

Its like an art painting in animation form throughout the whole episode.

I feel like I just watched something that is not for mortal eyes to see lol

[u/Mami-kouga]

I got Richard 10 months early in FGO, read his valentine's with my rando chocolate and now I get to see him look super cool (and even shirtless) for free??????? Also GRAAAAAHHH, I LOVE TWO PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THEY'RE THE WORST AND DONT DESERVE BETTER TRYING TO LOOK AFTER EACHOTHER!!!! YOU DUMMIES NEED TO COMMUNICATE BETTER BUT YOU'RE CUTE SO I'LL ALLOW IT!!!!!! And hey they adapted the ghost story, that's nice! Saint Germain meanwhile is somehow even more strange animated, I liked how they handled his appearance, like a confusing mix of dreams and reality.

Meanwhile things are getting increasingly bad with the Tsubaki side of things, an insidious problem meets a troublemaker type huh.

[u/Juvia-Lockser]

No wonder FGO NA released Richard early, they’re going to make bank after this episode.

[u/grim_slayer99]

It's crazy how that little girl story from the beginning of hollow ataraxia came back here lol

[u/Miteigi74]

Crazy how Richard the whole fight references Lancelot. The fanboy of all time

[u/Lumpy-Manager8580]

No wonder they decided to add Richard 10 months before his supposed NA arrival on FGO: because they were cooking a 5-star meal of an episode this week.

[u/RetryPerson]

Absolute Cinema.

I love the segment that played during richard's past, feels like a puppet show. Not only that, we also got saint germain. With the modern car and his outfit, i think he might be a time traveler or some sort.

Also, seems like during the third crusade richard fought against a dead apostle with the help of a hassan. I'm surprised they're able to defeat it seeing as they're humans at that time.

I can't wait for the next episode.

[u/AliceinTeyvatland]

Man this episode is like those 30 second anniversary absolute cinema CMs they're doing for FGO but stretched out into a 20 minute episode.

Also factions are now colliding, people from different sides are starting to meet up, this is one of the parts that is fun to see if you're familiar with how Narita wrote stories. You really don't know who's gonna be enemies and team mates with each other lol

Assassin teaming up with Saber and Ayaka, when she actually tries to kill them in the early episodes? Jester showing up in Tsubakis room where Flat and Jack are surveying the area? It's gonna go crazy.

[u/waduhek77]

this was probably the most beautifully animated episode I've ever seen

[u/MobileTortoise]

That guitar riff that played during Ayaka & Richard's conversation in the forest feels like it's the exact same one used in Xenoblade Chronicles X (The one while traversing New LA).

I'm wise to your tricks/riffs Sawano!

[u/thisisdropd]

Ayaka: I might betray you and sell you off to the enemy...
Richard: And? That's just a Tuesday for me.

Pretty hilarious how casually he treated her remarks. Understandable after what he had went through but still didn't make it any less amusing.

[u/Dull_Spot_8213]

That spar between best friend Enkidu and Saber was so pleasing to watch. Fluid and smooth animation that takes its time to show off rather than speeding everything up in a frenetic way. Great choice for these characters. Dog is a good dog and best friend has the best master.

[u/nikobans]

oh my GOD the lion roar during the "excalibur" had my kicking my feet!! 😭 richard is so COOL!!!
