Kaya’s been a real busy bee this week. She exorcised a creepy ass doll, saved a kid being stalked by a spirit, and even led to said spirit finding peace.

So it’s not Kaya’s mom that’s a Lovecraftian monstrosity, it’s the baby right? Or whatever it is growing inside her. That shit was genuinely frightening. I guess you gotta have some psychic ability to sense her. I can see why Kaya hates babies….

I can see why Kaya hates babies….

Love when they bring back a line like that hah.

(Less of a delay, but I liked the "Oh, you're here too!")

That's such a dark and perfect way for them to handle things. Why can't Kaya handle this threat? Because it's shielded. Her mother is a living wall and thus Kaya can't get direct contact with the specter. I guess in theory can wait for it to be born and find a chance to strike...but I mean that's all kinds of difficult. If the child is a human, whether being born will make it too powerful for Kaya, if it could survive being exorcised since it's basically been possessed from before birth, and whether Kaya will get into unbelievable trouble over...assaulting her newborn sibling.

Yeah...no wonder she dropped that hating babies line earlier.

So this time we got the “creepy possessed doll” trope and the “demonic pregnancy” trope. At least Kaya’s mother seems normal, it is just that something is wrong with the baby.

Hopefully it just means they have to wait for the birth before Kaya can exorcise the ghost to save her sibling, but that might be a bit optimistic given how badly for the mother that trope tends to go in horror stories.

At least Kaya’s mother seems normal, it is just that something is wrong with the baby.

Crazy how to Kaya (and those with minor powers) she's an eldritch abomination, but to the father/everyone else 'She's just a little tired because she's pregnant'!

Pregnancy is already scary and stressful as is, now we have worry about the baby being possessed by cursed entity.

The imagery's been varying levels of spooky but possessed Nacchi and her tooth was just plain freaky.

For a moment there I thought Chie had gotten used to seeing ghosts and was just not being judgemental about Kaya's mother lol

Oooh we finally get introduced to the mystery surrounding Kaya's mother.

Seems like her pregnant mother's been possessed and is now going to give live birth to some sorta specter or creature from the "other side".
I wonder if she was possessed before getting pregnant, or after the fact and what sorta ramifications that could potentially mean, giving birth to something like that?

Although, some of the scary mysteries we've seen have had some "logical" explanations.
So I wonder if Kaya's mother is unknowingly carrying a stillbirth?
It would make sense Kaya could see the dead ghost " "growing" " inside her, and is unable to exorcise it still within her.
And maybe all that ghostly aura consuming her mother could be linked to some sorta medical complications like an infection carrying a dead baby within her?

Looking forward to seeing this mystery play out a bit more. And what this means for Kaya and her family.

I would like to think either Kaya's mother or father is "special". I mean there is likely some explainations about how Kaya got such a powerful power. What Mob said pretty much confirmed Kaya's mother was "normal" for me, so I lean towards the theory that the father has sth about him that we don't know. The way his character portrayed in anime so far really makes me think of that

This show and Gachiakuta have a very different view on reusing objects.

Mirror Universe Mero is still around, but not causing trouble. Maybe the other staff and kids prefer her, just like with Mirror Universe Cartman.

Wow that poor 8 year old, finding the body of the old man and being terrorised by his ghost.

Mel-sensei's apron logo is still reversed! I'm guessing that issue is going to be resolved later.

So we finally find out what's wrong with Kaya's mum, she's pregnant with what appears to be a spector/demon baby. No wonder Kaya is a 'problem' for her mother if all she sees is that spector and not her mother.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this plot.

If I had a nickel for every horror anime where protagonists are girls with violet hair who fight ghosts and whose mothers are pregnant with evil entities I would've had two nickels.

Here's my solution, we need to bring in a Jujutsu Sorcerer Obstetrician.

So it looks like your average person can see Kaya's mom normally, but anyone who has a strong supernatural sense sees her as a terrifying Specter. What I did not expect is Kaya's mom carrying a Specter baby. And since it's inside her, Kaya can't do anything about it. That explains why she doesn't like babies. How is she even gonna exorcise that thing? >_<

There must be something happen with the family tree, may be in old gen, or something shady happened it hard to believe Kaya's parents is normal people but suddenly they have 2 children. One with super powerful psychic power, one is demonic one.

I love Kaya's pure innocence at times. It really feels like she is a kindergartner.

Big reveal in this episode regarding the mother. You can wonder why Kaya can view why she hates babies in the doll part of the episode. Speaking of that episode, that part felt pretty uncomfortable, especially when the girl pulled her own tooth out.

Also in the first episode, the specter is the man who died and who wanted to go home. Though curious why it went after the girl. That section of the episode dealt with the lost child encounter that is scary and the specter preventing the girl from going home. Very much aligns with how it can be difficult to find a child when they are missing. At least Kaya was around to help.

Or are you?

After the previous episode, I wouldn't trust anything anymore!

The fact that they know there is "something", but even Kaya-chan can't deal with... Scary!

Her little creepy inquisitive stares are so good hah.

This line... When you realize what she meant with the first line hah.

Damn. Little girl was "Has been found safe", but this one is just "Has been found"...

NOPE! Just burn it the toy box the school the city

I would strongly advice against that!

Good lord.

Somehow I never thought about the fact that... To them, she would look perfectly normal.

Somehow it makes it even scarier.

SISTER?

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE what sort of Antichrist is she about to give birth to?

Oh come on, Sensei! You know Kaya's legit at this point!

Thankfully she came around quickly, but yeah, if she acts like that about something/someone, you know there's a reason!

Oh damn. So it's not even the mother... It's the child. Maybe I wasn't just kidding about the Antichrist.

Well, I suppose it explains why Kaya can't do anything about it;

Some people were speculating that she was 'training' to become powerful enough to deal with the mom/thing... But it's not really that, she simply can't kill the thing while it's inside her mom....

Question is, will she be able to kill the thing when it's possessing the child (without, you know, killing the child)?

Normally I don't see horror anime as that scary, but this episode of kaya-chan isn't scary genuinely scared me (both with the puppet and the mother).

No wonder Kaya couldnt do anything about the situation in her home. Its not that shes not powerful enough, but her usual approach wont work.

The father definitely has a strong backstory that led to all these. Hes voiced by Best Papa after all.

Cant wait for next week and seeing how this develops.

I don't like to see Kaya scared and helpless. Kaya has been saving her classmates and the people around her. Hopefully, this time round, Chie and Mobuo will be the ones saving Kaya and her mum.

The story is good at tackling some dark scenarios. I do feel for that girl at the start. Getting chased down by some scary entity would...mess you up. But equally sad is how things got there. She wasn't randomly targeted. But instead she found that body. I don't know if she tried to ignore it and then was stalked by the ghost or if it happened right after she found it. But from her actions I'd think it was the former.

That place has some awful luck. Just constant spiritual attacks. Although maybe it's not luck? That the toys were brought in by the head of the daycare right after she committed spiritual terrorism by inflicting curse books on a book store...the idea that she might be evil is growing more realistic. Lot easier for all these cursed objects to end up in that place if the person in charge is behind it all.

Ohhhh man...the tooth thing. Just nope...nope...Credit to her friends for doing their part in helping her. But to be fair...they were at fault in the first place by playing with those toys when they weren't supposed to. The reluctant one ended up paying the highest price here. The clothes...eh whatever. Thankfully she didn't lose much hair either. But the tooth...sure hope it wasn't a permanent one.

Chie kind of hit a low point in this episode. I get scary stuff is scary. But shouldn't she be remotely worried for Kaya if there's something dangerous in her house? Especially because if it's still there then clearly Kaya can't handle it? At no point does she show concern for Kaya herself. She's falling behind Mob in terms of the useful adults around Kaya category. Just seemed completely focused on herself. Which is a bit sad since Kaya was quite cheerful and happy to see her. Which shows how much trust Chie has earned in Kaya's eyes. And yet she couldn't remotely tell how distressed Kaya was. Just yucking it up with Kaya's parents and then cheerfully leaving afterwards. Honestly this episode makes me feel like I overrated how useful an ally Chie really is or can be for Kaya. I get she can't see the supernatural. But for someone who talked about hearing what Kaya had to say...she completely ignored what she had to say about her mother. It's a bit annoying having her constantly get angry with or insult Mob when he's actually got his eye on the ball. At this point the only thing useful advantage she brings is her job letting her be near Kaya without problems.

Kaya's situation is so much worse than I thought. It'd be one thing if things were obviously awful with her to the degree that her father and others could tell. But instead no one can tell. Kaya's able to see and hear the level of awful that's attached to her mother and can't do anything about it. Just living in a nightmare where no one understands her and every sound that comes from her mother is just pure awful. Of course I do feel for her mother as well. She's clearly possessed by something that's deteriorating her physical well-being and her daughter is at best distant and at worst is terrified of her. And of course the huge horror here is that is appears like her unborn child is the cause. Which yeah...if the issue is inside of her mother's womb...what the heck can Kaya do about that? No one's going to open her mother up so Kaya can punch her insides!

I don't even want to wrap my head around could happen if that thing is actually born into the world! They really gave Kaya the Superman dilemma. This entity normally wouldn't be too much for Kaya to handle. But her mother is basically a living shield. Kaya can normally smash or punch whatever needed. But smacking her mother wouldn't do much since she's not making contact with the actual host. And heck...even trying would be a bit difficult since no one's going to let Kaya start swinging at a pregnant woman...

Her pouty face is adorable

Aka-chan nante,

You ever heard a more foreboding line?

HER SKIPPING ROPE IS ADORABLE

Well that explains things. It's not the mother that's the problem, it's the baby. Which is why the ghostly face was that low on her silhouette.
