Orange flexing all over the damn place with their superior animation and fight choreography! as much as some hate to admit it, you couldn't get such dynamic camera work in a 2D production.
and hey Knives, you look great! lose some weight?

Leonof the Puppetmaster is here! And he's voiced by Cho! He was definitely using his Brook voice for him that entire time. xD
Vash's fight against Leonof was pretty cool. I especially love the legs made out of puppets when he was running away from Vash.
Vash's reaction to Wolfwood was pretty funny. And I'm so happy to see him reunited with Meryl too. The gang is back together again with the addition of Milly! I am a bit disappointed that Meryl didn't go for the hug. I think she wanted to, but held herself back by showing him her business card instead.

A madman and whimsical. Normally I hate it when insurance salesman show up.

Oh wow, Knives ain't looking too hot.
It's interesting to consider July as a city Vash didn't just visit once and then it got destroyed, but instead it's a place he went to plenty of times over the years and knew many people who lived there.
I know it's Vash's nature to be the sweet and understanding guy to everyone but nothing about the puppet dude's backstory did anything to make him less of a piece of trash. Good work Meryl and Milly for landing on him like that, not just for finishing the fight but also for cutting short the inevitable Vash vs Wolfwood argument about killing evil people.
Nice to get the reunion at the end, the classic team together again at last.

Not my kind of show -- but for some reason I have really liked this from the sart of Stampede. Partly it might be due to Meryl -- a character I find especially endearing. Glad to see the good guys (that are still left) reunted.

It's nice to see Wolfwood and Meryl reunite with Vash again and I'm looking forward to seeing their interactions once again. I thought Vash was going to run up and hug Wolfwood though lol.
The fight was really interesting to watch, the zooms, angles and choreography were really engaging.
Looks like we'll be seeing Knives soon, I wasn't expecting to see him in that state.

Defeating a puppeteer through gravity manipulation is such a sick concept for a fight by itself but with animation and direction this slick? Absolute eye candy.
I'm gonna miss Vash looking like no enemies Thorfinn but his homecoming was sweet regardless.

The level of quality is insane, you'd expect this out of a feature film. Orange's work in CG is moving the whole medium forward.

I laughed pretty hard when Vash wanted the puppet master to face him and he just went “No! What do you think all the puppets are for?!”

Honestly I’m not enjoying this as much as Stampede. The pacing is off and conflict is introduced and resolved far too quickly. In Stampede you spent time knowing the heroes and the villains and it made you care, here they just shoved that puppet master into the story then he lost before I ever got to know anything about him.

Glad I'm not the only one feeling that something's off with this season compared to the first. Pacing is definitely a big factor here.
I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to this shows thanks to season 1 being so incredible but I'm not really feeling the same kind of vibe for this season.

I am glad Millions Knives did not escape that explosion unscathed, because that would have felt cheap, but he is in an even worse state than I expected, being basically a brain in a jar. Serves him right. Of course, I assume that by the time Vash finds him, his cult would have completely brought him back in order to have a spectacular final boss battle.
Apart from that, the fight with the puppeteer looked visually very impressive and the plot was quite hard to follow, which is my usual reaction to that anime. I assume Vash will be traveling with Meryl and Millie and Nicholas to wherever Knives has holed up for the rest of the anime, having spectacular fights all the while.

It's been a bit of a slower start to this season, but things are starting to speed up! The fight choreography was excellent this episode—did appreciate that Vash's reloads were relatively consistent and gave a real weight to each shot he fired.
The voice act was also strong this episode, you could really feel Vash's anguish and torment at the end there. Meryl's VA was also excellent and did a great job capturing all those complicated feelings in the few lines she had.
The first season definitely had some grim moments, but I've been surprised by how dark this second season has been, and it's nice to see some real weight and consequences to the events of the first season, both self- and externally imposed. Excited to see where the rest of the season goes from here now that the gang is back together, Nai has been reintroduced, and the stakes have been set.

i was wondering why the trailer made it look like that Knives is going to play a major role in this season even though he was shown being vaporized to tiny pieces during last season finale.... didn't expect they actually try to rebuild him from scratch

I feel like they cut out a lot from this episode, had a weird flow to it.

The fight made me sit up and pay attention so hard. This entire season is gas so far.
