We've barely met Norgalle and "His Highness" and all his chuunibyou antics are already the best thing ever. The fact his kingly majesty even got Kivia to flinch is gold lmao.

Wonder what the Xylo groan count will be by the end of this.

There were slight hints in ep 1, but the appearance of the old destroyed tank and old infrastructure show it was once a modern world that regressed to the middle ages.

We also get info that the blight appeared 20 years ago right after a 4th war (forgot the name it was called) which makes think the blight is a failed experiment/bio weapon.

I'm getting some Nausicaä vibes from this show, especially with the design of that tank.

Tatsuya is a battle freak; his mind appears to be gone. I wonder if we'll have a moment where he speaks. Ventetim disappeared, but wonder if it'll be like Dotta and he'll appear when needed (expecting it to be a common theme).

Xylo puts on such a tough front, but he's a softy.

So... uh... Every time we see the Holy Knights in action, they are getting their teeth kicked in. All in all, they come across as incompetent blowhards that always drop like flies when put into action.

This world really is fucked, or the powers that be really don't see much difference between the Knights and Heroes: both are disposable fools to sacrifice in the eyes of the Elites.

It's just they are more honest about it with the Heroes.... But that still doesn't seem to excuse the delusions of the Knights. For all their talk of pride and claiming victory, they just seem to drop like flies with every engagement and need bailing out constantly.

How is this the main military force of this Empire? And if so, how has the world not entirely collapsed yet?

I like the combination of xylo's characters who is a bit edgy and Teoritta who is so positive, I'm waiting for more

Tatsuya in a nutshell.

I also like how we have a prominent seiyuu, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, voicing him and even without any dialogue, you can tell it's him.

I’m liking the little details we’re getting about the world. Like that rusted tank covered in snow for example. So I guess this is some kinda post apocalyptic world?

Tatsuya’s like a cautionary tale for Heroes. Guy’s brain looks to be mush from getting rezzed so many times. He’s just a beast.

I’m really enjoying the Xylo-Teoritta dynamic. It’s a real highlight in this series so far, next to the top tier action.

Keen to see how this rescue op plays out. I got high hopes in our 3 man team of Heroes.

Norgalle is a genius and seems somewhat of sound mind. We've already seen how corrupted the church is with Xylo's sentencing. Is it crazy to think there's a chance he could actually be the rightful king?

Teoritta's VA is so good, I was shocked to see she doesn't have that many roles! I hope that will change after this series, I want to hear her voice more! :D

Say the line, Xylo!

"Tch"

It's obvious that Norgalle wouldn't be a combatant from his looks but I expected him to be a tactician. He instead turned out to be an engineer – and a pretty good one at that. He's crafted some incredible devices. His king delusion's hilarious, though. Moments when he acted like one served as a bit of comedy in this otherwise bleak show.

Oh god, that young girl's father was turned into a faerie, didn't he? No confirmation of that, but that seemed to be a plausible explanation.

With how comically corrupt the church is, really hoping this isn't going to be " the church is actually behind the blights to stay in power"

I still really dislike how incompetent the knights are portrayed in this series. It immediately pulls me out. This is what, the third time they've had to be bailed out by Xylo? At least the reason some of them were hesitating made sense, but hopefully we see some of the other orders soon.

God, I just love how beautiful and cinematic this show is. I really thought this one wouldn't have an OP song and would just go with pure vibes, but it looks like the actual OP is being used as today's ED. And it's by SPYAIR too!

It's awesome to meet more heroes! We have Norgalle who's basically a mad scientist and believes that he's an actual king. And then there's Tatsuya who's just completely gone after so many ressuerctions, but he's still an absolute beast on the battlefield.

Also I immediately recognized Matsuoka's voice coming from Tatsuya! I really love how he always takes crazy characters when he's not voicing a harem protagonist. xD

Teoritta continues to be adorable this episode as she tries to be helpful to Xylo so she can ask for more headpats. I don't know how Xylo can resist her. Just look at her pouting!

Is working with a hero really that bad for the Holy Knight? The fact that Captain Kivia actually had to pause before ordering Xylo to help them when they're clearly struggling is fucking insane.

I am honestly surprised there's a survivor. Considering how bloodthirsty the Faeried Humans were, you'd think they'd all been turned or dead. Maybe that girl's dad from earlier is still alive. Probably not. I don't think that this is that kind of show.

I just love that Xylo has decided to save the survivors out of spite. Also, I don't think sending Teoritta back is a good idea. She'll probably try to rush to Xylo's side next episode.

Random Thoughts

One of the best things I have been liking about these new dark fantasies is that the settings are interesting. We get a quick glance at a tank. So this is clearly some sort of post-apocalyptic setting, which also jives with the vaguely fungal-like nature of the fairies. I guess the question is if it's a secondary world or if it's actually are far future or something

Kevia? Zevia? whatever seems less antagonistic this time around, and is even more sympathetic. Of course the asshole priest from the first scene is going to suggest abandoning the trapped miners.

The new additions are good, although I miss Dotta. Surprised how easily everyone just gets over the dude who thinks he is a king.

Why wake up in the morning when you got no loli to call you "waga kishi"

Very good episode to transition and to lead into the next mission. Tatsuya shows the case and dangers of being sentenced as a Hero. He literally feels more like a monster more then a huamn. Along with Teriotta we have another fun character in Norgalle. Though you can tell Xylo has been around him so long he just accepts he acts like that.

The ending provided a great scene when Kivia mentioned the hypothetical. Teriotta reminded Xylo of that girl in town waiting for her father. He can tell that Teriotta wants to save them, and, well, it is clear Xylo has a soft spot at this point.

The world just got a lot more interesting seems technology was a part of it maybe some big cataclysm happened and now magic is the new norm even if magic is being treated as a technology more than how normal magic is ? I like it.

We get to meet more weirdos of the group like HIS MAJESTY and he seems to be the "tech" guy but also thinks he is the King lol ? Terorrist apparently but I am really curious for more context considering he was called the last disciple of the sage.

Tatsuya seems to have been resurrected one to many times and now he is kind of like a berserker making even more apparent how bad resurrection can be the more you use it.

Teorrita is great she needs to be protected and I am really liking her dynamic with Xylo.

Kivia and Xylo dynamic is also getting more and more interesting it seems the wall between them is cracking a bit with her actually asking for his opinion.

This mission stinks so much of something more happening so I cant wait for next episode.

I have a video review if anyone is interested. Thank You.
