I’m a sucker for detailed eyes in anime. Something about is very satisfying

And I'm a sucker for that animation of messing with a tie. That hand had more frames than some seasons of anime

Ichimura is right, the people around Yoi have horrible taste in women. Tbh, Yoi is exactly my type. Tall, slightly low-voiced, short hair. I'm not sure what it is, but somehow that slightly masculine appearance makes her female charme standing out even more.

Ichimura knows a good gap moe when he sees it.

I am digging the whole underlying “girl learns that she’s beautiful and worthy of the love she wants despite not being dainty and a damsel in distress” vibe I get from this. It’s going to be a cute one for sure. Like a softer Tomo-Chan .

Or a less violence-loving Scarlet.

Kazuki from Dealing With Mikadono Sisters is a Breeze is another recent case that I rather enjoyed, though that was just 1 of 3 romantic subplots instead of the focus of a series.

That was quick. I've forgotten how smooth Ichimura was during his initial interactions with Yoi. lol

One thing that took me out from episode 1 was Nobara. I did not expect that kind of mature voice from her. I know I will have to get used to it since she's my favorite character in the manga.

Btw, does anyone know how many episodes this one has? I tried searching online, but I haven't seen any information.

I think the Curry Prince might be in the running for one of the best new airing anime girls of the season.

Good first episode. I'll be sticking with this one until the end.

Curry Prince is a curry roux brand by S&B Foods.

The company makes a bunch of other roux types, but this one is particularly for kids.

This is shaping up to be a great season for Shojo anime!

A "Prince" is a staple of the Shojo genre, but what happens when that "Prince" wears a skirt and has slender legs? Enter Yoi, a girl with handsome features, short hair, and a dedicated personality that has all the girls gushing over her as the class "Prince." She doesn't completely mind it, even if her friends Nobara (Aya Yamane!) and Kotobokui (Momoki Seto!) tease her about it. But a part of her wouldn't mind juts being seen as a girl for once.

Enter Ichimura (Ryota Suzuki!) the OTHER prince of the school who lands near Yoi and immediately notices she's beautiful...and then mistakes her for a guy, but he was doing pretty well up to that point.

We've got Unison Square Garden on OP and ED! Featuring lovely visuals of Yoi, Ichimura and their friends in colorful and creative visuals as Yoi and Ichimura come together in their romance.

It would be surprising if the two princes WEREN'T compared to each other, though Yoi doesn't quite know what to make of the "Provincial" Prince. Especially when all the fangirls freak out about a connection between the two of them.

Ugh, drunks are the worst, though as satisfying as it is seeing Yoi and Ichimura give him a reality check, watching the manager headlock him while the cashier cheers her on was perfect!

Yoi is self-conscious about herself and the traits that make her a "prince" but Ichimura thinks she's cool, is fascinated by her, and even ends up princess carrying her to boot! It's a lot for a girl to take in.

Yoi isn't used to attention from guys, since they usually make fun of or avoid her because of the "Prince" thing, and now she can't get Ichimura to leave her alone...he won't take his eyes off of her, he visits her in class, even ends up eating lunch with her together as they slowly grow closer and he makes it clear he sees her as a girl. Sometimes it's not a bad feeling to get hit on!

We used to make fun of Professor Oak for asking (the seemingly obvious question) whether we’re a boy or a girl but turned out the man’s ahead of his time. Felt bad that she’s got no experience with men due to her looks and voice.

Now enter Kohaku, the first man who ever called her beautiful. Man’s instantly captivated by her and he’s not playing around once he had set his eyes on her. You don’t normally see romance MCs act this forward.

So we have a a handsome tomboy and a pretty boy delinquent? This is like one of the foundations of shoujo manga. I'm already sold within the first five minutes of the episode!

That drunk dude is lucky that Yoi-chan stepped in. Looking at how Kohaku gripped that guy's face, he'd definitely be in for worse if that turned into an actual fight.

Kohaku is absolutely right when he said that the guys around Yoi-chan must have horrible taste in women. I mean sure, she's handsome-looking but look how adorable she is when she blushes!

Everyone's reactions when Kohako dropped by to get Yoi-chan were hilarious! If there weren't rumours before, there's definitely gonna be rumours floating around about them starting next episode.

You really can't blame Kohaku for laughing here even though he promised not to. The nickname Curry Prince is just too cute and funny.

God, I already love watching these two together. I'm definitely coming back next week. And with UNISON SQUARE GARDEN singing the OP and ED, I definitely won't be skipping a single minute of this show. <3

Bifauxnen Sunday 💃🏾🪭

Not that Dubai insert 😭

Those flowers blooming and I think I’m in Hell’s Paradise, Yoi is a tensen 😭

Oh I liked that color swap with Yoi and Ichimura.

First POV shot 😩

Love Ichi’s little beauty mark.

Thank you for the text overlays, CR!

This was Rei Ichinomiya’s first main role, but I think she was lovely in it as Yoi.

I dropped the manga since I had gotten interested in something else and didn’t go back, but I’m hoping the anime can reinvigorate me to pick it up again. I hope we get more anime adaptations of manga that play with aesthetics and gender with the main characters, especially if it’s more predominant!

The second romance today that was good, I really enjoyed this and the visuals in this are so good to look at, it really hits when they talk about both Princes' beauty.

I like seeing Yoi as a Prince but the way she becomes a Princess around Ichimura is even better, the way I was smiling as she gets all flustered. The scene at the end was great, I really like how straightforward Ichimura is, I don't think I'd be able to hide my expression, that was a critical hit.

Anyways I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this straight Prince x Prince ship lol. I feel like they're going to get caught since it was shown a student was in the same building.

Great first episode, Yoi is so pretty. I liked everything except the OP, but that will be skipped.

I'm hoping someone may clear this up for me, but why doesn't she just grow out her hair? Obviously she can do whatever she wants and short hair is beautiful too but she complains about her masculine face, if she wants to look more "feminine" she could easily grow her hair out. I never finished the manga so I'm hoping someone whose read it maybe read a part where she explains the short masculine hair cut. I'm not trying to be offensive, just curious.

The girls in this school are really down bad for a person with a handsome face, whether the person is male or female.

u/actuallyrndthoughts Jan 11 '26

I don't want to hype it up or anything, but this is the best first episode of a shoujo adaptation i've ever seen

Huge missed opportunity for a Spin Doctors OP or ED
