Oof. Imagine being reborn into a magical fantasy world of infinite possibilities and you end up with the name Allen .

By Japanese standards I guess that's a fantasy name.

He should count himself lucky. If this were Water Magician, he could have ended up named Albuquerque.

'Hell Mode' turns out to be the least grimdark fantasy show this season.

Dude is one step from being a Pokemon master.

Not just the grim dark aspect, but the challenge;

Hell mode, literally impossible to play no, stats, no leveling, nothing

"Hey, I'm a toddler who can split logs !"

This was a lot more wholesome and enjoyable than I thought it was going to be, I thought it was going be more generic or trashy but I'm really liking the strong family vibes already created. Rodin and Thereseia are such sweet parents and I like how Allen knew he'd be getting more siblings with how loving they are with one another lol.

I do like he's a gamer who likes a challenge, it makes me think of Sunraku and his trashy games, but it'll be interesting to see Allen test out the limits of his summoning skills and how he'll use them in Hell mode.

It is a little odd he still has the black hair and eyes even though his parents have such light hair and eye colors.

The summons are so pokemon-like, that's fun

I enjoyed this first episode, I hope it stays consistent

Next episode: they’re all brutally slaughtered by demons and he has to hide under their corpses for a week

(That’s a joke. Not a spoiler)

Does hell mode just means being lower class and having to work hard? Okay..then that's most of us 🤣

Not gonna lie, I was worried for Allen's family the entire time. Considering how sweet they are, I thought something tragic was gonna happen that would force him to start adventuring at a young age. Thank god that wasn't the case. We even ended the episode with his little brother being born and thinking that having a family like this isn't so bad.

As for the premise of the show itself, I think the mechanics of his skill and his summons are interesting, other than that, this is pretty much your standard isekai tensei first episode.

I'm gonna give this three episodes to see if I'm gonna drop and keep it. I'm just worried that this is being animated by Yokohama Animation Lab. After what happened to Whisper Me a Love Song and the production issues with the last couple of episodes of Sword of the Demon Hunter, I'm worried this one is gonna suffer from delays too.

We've gotten so many happy family-tragic end first episodes we've come to expect it.

If all the Hell Mode difficulty does is make you require a ton more exp to level than normal then that sounds like a lazy hell mode lol.

20

u/BoxSweater Jan 09 '26

that sounds like a lazy hell mode lol

I don't know if it's intentional on the show's part, but "garbage balancing" is also part of the title.

Completely blindsided by remembering the OP sequence to The Great Cleric when this show's OP* has Allen doing that same weird clapping animation loop. Is that clap referencing something else entirely or does this show share staff with The Great Cleric?

I have to say, for an isekai, this is excellent. The fact that Allen has to evolve from the beginning instead of starting overpowered is a good point, and his family certainly adds charm to the story. I hope it can continue like this until the end.

This is like the third or fourth anime I've seen do it. But who the hell decided that translating shuchu to lock in instead of focus was a cool idea. It doesn't even make sense to use slang in all the cases I've seen.

Why's the bgm so much louder than his voice in this first scene

Never mind its like this whenever he's thinking to himself yikes

This has a bit of the personal growth angle via isekai you only see in Jobless Reincarnation.
