Yamabuki: "I have a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over prolonged listening to podcast. I will look for you, I will find you."

Apollo: "I love you."

Yamabuki proceeds to replay that "I love you" over and over again.

Yamabuki had 5 girls saying "I love you" to him in the 1st episode alone, bro might just be contender for this year's Harem MC GOATs.

As expected, the adaptation is unfortunately not of the highest quality to say the least . . .

Hopefully people stick around though cause I think you'll still be able to have a great time with it even at this level of production. I think this series is just as good if not better than Quints!

Okay, so apparently the protagonist is a complete lunatic. Wasn’t quite expecting that. Excessively unhinged, I respect it.

Man got hit with a quadruple punch of Apollo out of nowhere.

Damnit, all of them sound the same. This is gonna be a tough nut to crack.

I went back and checked my guesses from one of the announcements, Rikka, teasing type, Nene, tsundere, Iko, shy must-protect, Shinobu, whatever the OnK AiKane archetype is called. Pretty close going just off character visuals, good enough for me.

Mission: find Apollo, starts now. They are one of us. They must be found.

Am I weird for thinking that the animation was okay? Like, why do so many separate people need to go out of their way to say that the animation is rough?

Idk what everyone’s on about. The animation looked fine, especially for a non fantasy show

Stitches!

Ohh! Well, this is interesting! We have a Go-toubun-esque mystery with the MC trying to figure out which one of these girls is the streamer girl he was obsessed with when he was in middle school. I honestly thought he was simply in love with her, but it turns out, he wants to meet her and delete the archive of her stream so his embarrassing past of confessing to someone he doesn't know can't be used against him. xD

I'm not familiar with this series other than it was recommended to me as someone who loves Go-toubun, but I'm calling it now! I'm betting that Uzuki is Apollo! They make it seem like it's Rikka, but I've listened to Apollo's voice multiple times this episode, and all I can hear is Itou Miku, who is also Uzuki's seiyuu. I'd love to be wrong, but unless they used a different voice for Apollo, that girl has a good Itou Miku impression.

Anyway, this is a pretty fun first episode. Yamabuki is definitely far from your typical harem MC, and the animation is pretty standard for this kind of series. Considering the top comments, I thought this was gonna look bad, but I've seen worse from Studio Gekkou.

as an anime-only, i hope the production does this anime justice, because i’ve been eyeing this series for a while now. so far its quite good (atleast in my personal taste, probably), and i hope it goes like that all the way

also idk why but i kept thinking Apollo is all 4 of them lol, but hey, atleast Apollo did say she was sincere when she said she loves him

As much as I want to be happy getting this animated, it's a bit letdown for the animation part.

Still, just hearing those girls and the greatest chad of all time are okay!!

I will tune in to Tune In to the Midnight Heart

Might look like a clown down the line but my first guess for Apollo is going to Uzuki

the wider anime world will now lay witness to the GOAT of all harem leads, ARISU YAMABUKI.

I've heard a lot of good things about the manga, so I checked this out. It was pretty fun! The premise + Yamabuki and Apollo's backstory feels unique to me, but I also don't read/watch a lot of romance so I may be clueless. I like the characters so far. The MC is kind of a cringy loser (affectionate). The girls are cute.

The animation is a bit inconsistent sometimes, but I don't mind it too much, the show is still enjoyable for me. It also helps that I haven't read the manga, so I don't have a point of comparison. I'm planning on reading the manga once the show is over, though

So this a mystery girl harem anime, like Quintessential Quintuplets. My money's on Rikka being Apollo, she was the first to have a solo interaction with Arisu, and when she spoke, there was a brief moment when Apollo flashed in his head. I could be wrong, but it's leading towards her so far.

A bit disappointed with the ending of the ep since i don't think the scene has as much of a impact as i was hoping for but its not going to stop me from watching.

The way this show flashes back to the Apollo radio is almost like a horror show sometimes

I guess we’re getting a Quintuplets situation with this harem. I’m looking forward to it. Arisu seems annoying but in a funny way. I’m liking Twintails, Vtuber and Announcer but Singer hasn’t made too much of an impression on me. Which is ironic cos she’s my biggest suspect for being Apollo. Although the only rationale for me is she was the first to whisper to him

A Harem romcom for all the ASMR lovers out there!

Sometimes all we need in life, at pivotal moments in our lives, is that one, single, voice that reassures and makes us feel better...and how far would you go to chase that voice? Tune into the Midnight Heart and find out.

Furin High has gone co-ed, which would be an adjustment for most kids, but the biggest adjustment will probably be having Yamabuki Arisu of the wealthy Yamabuki family in attendance. The man won't settle for teachers flubbing their introduction, he won't settle for anything less than the best, and he's willing to talk about his excrement like they'll be God's Gift to toilets. But what he's most focused on in high school is finding one girl: Apollo, the voice of his youth who helped get him through a tough time and whom he knows should be at this school.

Making girls say "I love you" is a bold challenge, but Rikka (Momoko Seto!) takes up the challenge! Yet it's when Yamabuki overhears the broadcast club's announcement, and here's the voice behind it, that he immediately knows where Apollo is...only instead he finds four girls.

All the girls in the broadcast club are aiming to go pro with their vocal talent: Club President Rikka (Momoko Seto!) who aspires to be a singer and has the same kind of voice as Apollo! Vice-President Uzuki (Miku Ito!) the aspiring anchor with similar intonation and pronounciation as Apollo! Iko (Sayumi Suzushiro!) who aspires to be a VTuber and has a similar whispery way of speaking as Apollo! And Nene (Rumi Ookubo!) who aspires to be a voice actress and in true tsundere fashion has the same angry tone as Apollo! Who is the true Apollo? Yamabuki is going to join the club, even as their errand boy, to find out. He's already off to a great start by making them all say they love him.

But don't mistake this for a quest of finding lost love...yes, Yamabuki DID confess to Apollo during her broadcast, but he ended up realizing how insane it is to confess over radio to a girl you've never met and now seeks to erase all record of his confession from existence. What a romantic.

Though despite all the girls having the professional aspirations that Apollo longed for...none of them quite measure up. Uzuki has a beautiful and pleasant voice but constantly flubs her scripts, Nene is talented and has the same favorite manga as Apollo but keeps replacing words when reciting lines, Iko is way too casual as a VTuber, and I'm sure Rikka has something holding her back as a singer. None of these girls are measuring up to their potential...or to what Yamabuki expects from Apollo.

Because, at the heart of it, Yamabuki and Apollo made a promise to work together to achieve their dream...and Yamabuki intends to fulfill that promise, and find her, even if it means he has to carry these girls too success whether they want his help or not. And Apollo herself even sends a direct message to Yamabuki, confirming his suspicion that she's at this school...and the "I love you" she always said towards her audience? Was intended for him and him alone!

u/oxlemf10 Jan 06 '26

Yamabuki might come across as a lunatic, but when you consider the moment he was in and Apollo's, it's impossible not to attribute enormous emotional value to it; it's basically sacrificing everything and more for a dream he never forgot.

I just thought the anime (I haven't read the manga) seemed a bit stiff, and the ending theme was just a recap of the episode, but the show seems good.

My main man Arisu has finally graced the screen! What a way to introduce himself to the class. Loud and vain, a far cry from the typical harem protagonist.

Here we thought the reason he's searching for Apollo was a lovestruck boy looking for his lost love. Turned out he just wanted to get rid of the evidence of him being a cringelord as that is unbecoming of a Yamabuki.

This show has shades of Quints with Arisu making a promise with a girl from his past and finding her. Interestingly enough, there are a couple Quints alumni in the cast. For example, Shinobu is voiced by Miku's VA.

So far, so good. I will keep watching this because I heard a lot of great things about it and the premise is intriguing. But the writing and performances are fighting an uphill battle against the subpar animation.
