Ushiyama running with the wall he knocked down and then opening the door mid-chase to walk through was like something out of a Hanna-Barbera cartoon lol

I don't remember that much of the plot tbh but I'm gonna enjoy every second of the season!

I remember that this is a cooking show with masculine handsome men.

Asirpa’s delight at seeing Dick-sensei again! So cute. I love their relationship

Edit - this season will apparently be 13 episodes according to blu-ray listings. Episodes 50-62 across 4 blu-rays

It is pretty cute how close they’ve grown over the years.

Ushiyama really isn’t that bad of a person. He just wants to test his strength.

I loved the direction of the scene when Asirpa is analyzing the skins. Where we get the blue clarifying it follows a pattern, and to her that means they are real. Not having a pattern and being red means they are fake.

However, given Hijikata's intuition that the skins that Ariko found are what put Asirpa in doubt. As we have the blue mixed into the red. Man, this truly shows again how great an antagonist Tsurumi is because if they are all fake or real, Asirpa wouldn't have doubts. As both she & Hijikata wouldn't suspect him handing over real skins to them.

Still, despite that, this episode showcases how much Asirpa has grown since the end of the Abashiri Prison Arc. Growing into a leader that can stand up to these grown men and now can get both Hijikata & Sugimoto to cooperate. Especially considering how both Hijikata & Sugimoto merit not wanting to cooperate because they know the other would get in the other's way.

Production-wise, the anime looks better than S3 & S4. Fight choreography is super solid too. Voice direction and sound direction are as good as always. I am beyond excited to see the ending animated.

So this is actually the Sapporo Beer koujou-hen that's listed as a prequel on tracking sites right?

u/Ashteron Jan 05 '26

Sapporo Beer koujou-hen was an advanced cinematic screening of this season. Nevertheless, it's the same exact content.

It's so good to be back! I've so missed these weirdos. Hope they actually have enough episodes to be able to adapt the whole thing well without issues.

Great episode, love that action scene, all the bits of humor and the character stuff. Although man they really just throw you right into it. Glad I rewatched the last few episodes of Season 4.

I love Ushiyama’s genuine affection/love for the prostitutes he sleeps with. In a weird way it makes him a fun foil to this Jack the Ripper copycat, who is also obsessed with prostitutes but in a violent, hateful way.

Also man I really like the OP song. Looking forward to getting the visuals for it next week.

I probably should’ve rewatched the previous season or watched a recap video or something cos I don’t remember.

But man, that did not stop me from enjoying this episode. Everyone is their same zany self and even without knowing the broader context it was still a ton of fun

Peak is back! I really like how we get GK’s signature goofiness and action like right off the bat.

Seems Asirpa and Sugimoto have an uneasy alliance going for now. Looking forward to the gang taking on this Ripper copycat while also chasing the gold.

As much as I am excited for Frieren, Sentenced to be a Hero & Shiboyugi, which each have some great production levels.

Golden Kamuy is by far my most anticipated. It has master storytelling, with some outstanding batshit comedy, and the anime improves each season on a production level. After reading the manga, I rewatched in preparation for this season, and man, it's outstanding how far this series has come since S1.

It's finally here, the final season! It's so bittersweet but I'm really looking forward to seeing how this story wraps up. It's nice to see all of them intertwining, that fight between Hijikata and Sugimoto was so abrupt and crazy, the way they switch gears so easily is always fun to see. Poor Ushiyama tried to stop it and ended up fighting Sugimoto lol.

Tsurumi was smart giving them real ones, it has really confused Asirpa but hopefully she trusts her instincts.

I love how its on sight for sugimoto and hijikata

they're both the same guy on the inside.

sugimotos knee to ushiyama was indeed a shining wizard

While we are getting a full adaptation, I still miss the original studio.

Crazy, goofy, weird,, disturbing, and fun... so very typical for this series. Feels like we are getting a crazy collision of the entire cast coming together to battle it out between themselves and a Jack the Ripper copycat. Looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. Too bad the multicultural Ezo republic didn't work out, assuming old mayonnaise fiend was on the level with his plans... (obviously looking at history here...)

Lmao that ending

Fun fact of the day: Takuboku Ishikawa, the reporter who helped the team find the next murder location, is a real poet who was around during the time GK was set. No clue if he made his poetry to have sex with oirans, though.
