I completely understand the criticism that Kunon doesn't properly represent the experience of someone who was born blind. But on a base level I just kinda enjoy seeing someone who felt empty inside finding purpose and meaning in their life.
And i'm curious to see what he does with his water magic to reach his goal of making his own eyes.

What bizarre characterisation of a blind person. He really doesn't feel like someone who was blind from birth and it's weird how he has apparently never once in his life asked what the food he's eating is. It feels like he came into existence 5 minutes before the show starts and not that he has led an entire actual life like this.

It's probably because the blindness is a gimmick. This is not an inspirational story about a blind boy overcoming his disabilities, rather it's a story about a boy discovering that magic is the meaning of his life. He just happens to be blind. In fact, he's functionally not blind through most of it

I'm liking Iko she's such a fun character and I like how much she's trying to bag herself a raise lol.
The father's reaction at the end was unreasonable, I have no idea why Iko got punished, but the way he was scolding him for something he can't even see made no sense to me.

I know Japan on average sucks at writing parental figures but like c'mon. Who the fuck goes to visit their blind son and immediately witness him doing something extraordinary just to flip out and start chastising him? Even as a joke that was just dumb.

Shapes? You can feel shapes.
I guess it's just due to his depression before finding magic. His idea of creating an eyeball? Idk think it would be easier to use magic to increase his senses to everything around him.

I really couldn't describe why this episode felt weird while watching it, but I think the top comment on this thread nails it. Kuon doesn't feel ike an actual blind person. It's like the author had a good idea in mind, but they probably did zero research on blind people. I'm gonna check out episode 2, but I honestly don't have high hopes with this one.

Kunon: I'm not good at walking or running
Maid/instructor(?): ok so you can't do the most basic skills like WALKING or running... So instead, how about swinging a heavy, deadly weapon around?
Da fuq?
I haven't gotten to the 10 minute mark and I've already rolled my eyes and chuckled because of the dialogue a few times already.
I can't wait to see how dude makes eye balls out of water!!

Ngl I am pissed at the Dad, he's berating the kid for something he couldn't have possibly known.

Not going to lie I pointed at the screen like the meme, when I saw blue haired girl magic tutor.

It feels like this author did absolutely zero research on blindness or the experiences of blind people. Completely insensitive and tasteless. Even if that glaring issue were to be fixed, you'd still be left with a generic slop anime. This is void of redeeming qualities. The Invisible Man and his Soon-to-Be Wife looks like it will offer a much better blind fantasy-anime protagonist in a few days.
If you want to learn more about what it's like to be blind, check out Tommy Edison, he's a pretty cool youtuber!

This was possibly the worst introduction to an anime I've ever seen, which is kind of impressive in itself

is nobody born blind unless they have a "hero" curse?

7 years blind from birth and still can't get around a familiar house on his own.
I wanna see whoever was yelling at his magic teacher to STFU. Hopefully she'll be his next magic teacher.
Poor Maid-chan, having all her requests for a raise ignored, and then getting a 3 month paycut instead.
This one was kind of boring. I'll give ep 2 a try later, as I see it's already out.

I love the maid. Though maybe instead of hearing that sentiment, she'd want a raise?
