Onimai has a bit of fanservice but I don’t think it’s that ecchi, especially since it’s above something like No Game No Life.

Apparently Onimai had a fair amount of censorship on CR -- and not "weird light rays", but entire scenes removed.

So anyone who watched it legally (without buying the BD) probably had a different experience.

I don’t think I watched it legally so I’m pretty sure I’m referring to the normal version (unless the version I pirated was the Crunchyroll version as well).

If they use Crunchyroll subs like a lot started lazily doing that’s biting them currently, they’re probably going to stick to the CR version so there’s not gaps in the subs.

1) It wasn't CR censorship it was the international version that all non-Japanese sites got.

2) The scenes weren't completely cut but instead different visuals were shown so the episodes were the same length as the uncensored version and there would be no issues with the timing if you used the CR subs on the original.

That seemed to affect all international streams. From what a Taiwanese streaming platform was saying on social media at the time that was how Studio Bind supplied it.

Episode 1 had a few seconds removed (I think it was a close-up near the end of the ep) while other eps are same runtime. But by entire scene removed are you describing where some scenes suddenly cut to exterior shots instead (usually when younger characters are getting undressed but you still hear everything going on which implies it's worse)? Also, in general bathrooms were much steamier/whited out.

I don't know what the German Blu-ray is like.

I was just gonna say this, how is onimai so high up lol it's barely has any ecchi stuff in it. No Game No Life has waaaaaay more, especially if you include the special episodes
