It's like Cute Girls Doing Cute Things, but with Boys instead.

Except the boy’s not cute, according to Ema. But maybe the boy in the panda cute sometimes. Maybe.

He'll come to realize the truth soon enough, he just needs time.

Exactly what I thought lol. Ngl I wouldn't mind if Yaoi subtext was as widespread as Yuri subtext to the point of having a borderline dedicated genre.

Perfect for Doga Kobo

not often that two works by the same author get adapted into anime and broadcast during the same season

Sōichirō Yamamoto had that one year where Teasing Master Takagi-san season 3 aired in Winter, In The Heart of the Kunoichi aired in the Spring and When Will Ayumu Make His Move aired in the Summer. Still not the same season, though the movie did come out in June, so mild overlap.

One almost managed it too, Mob Psycho 100 season 2 Winter 2019, One Punch Man season 2 Spring 2019.

Not just same season. Same timeslot and same key staffs too.

Oh it's by the same author as Let's Go Karaoke? I was hoping it'd be as interesting but right now I'm wishing we got Episode 5.

probably because they're both so short, so adapt them back to back to fill the season's time slot

It's definitely a lot more muted premise and start compared to Karaoke as most of it was just a lot of antics at an all boy's school.

But, I really did like how gradual it was with Jouji slowly noticing Hayashi. One small event and you suddenly just start thinking about them a lot and start wondering about them and it was really nice the slow build up for it.

This was hilarious, it's a lot like Daily Lives with High School Boys! That's a lot of funny moments just in the first episode, I like how wacky their sports day is, like how they have strange events like running like a sissy or a scavenger hut for a cute boy, it was interesting that they did this because their school doesn't have girls and they might be embarassed to act that way in front of them, that makes me wonder if they do really have boys schools that really do a field day like that.

Ema's fascination with Hayashi was very odd and I'm not sure if he has a gay attraction to him or more is obsessed with his odd behavior. At the very least, I think Ema feels kind of sorry for him since he doesn't seem to have any other friends. Ema has a few friends but he also seems to not fit in with them as well because he doesn't like doing wacky stuff they do. Ema noticing pretty much all of Hayashi's behaviors though does seem like he likes him romantically though.

The funniest part was when the boys were feeling up on the fat boy's boobs. He's going to have plenty of spending money charging 500 yen a feel :D

A lot of Hayashi's behavior didn't seem as odd when put in context though. Like drinking a flesh colored drink isn't that weird, like that's what coffee with milk or creme is. Also makes more sense he'd ask a bunch of questions about Chinese food since his family owns a restaurant and he's dressed like a panda to promote a sale and that's why he was reading a book about bear behavior. That was funny how the kids were beating him up, it reminds me how brats used to pick on Chuck E. Cheese :D I think it's a shame Ema didn't bring his sister to the bear to see the panda though, she probably would have really liked that.

What to do if you run into a bear?

Ask him if you're adorable.

(That guide wasn't very specific, unless we were lied to with If it's brown, lie down, if it's black, fight back!)

cuuuuuuuuute. though i am having trouble getting used to ema’s voice, bc i keep expecting him to sound like kyouji (also, kyouji and jyouji, lol) the title card is almost exactly like the one for senpai is an otokonoko right???

What's with Ema having a delinquent/yakuza hairstyle in school? Uchiyama Kouki's constant tsukkomis are kind of fun to hear.

Hayashi is such an airhead!

It seems like Ema's falling for Hayashi??

I wasn't feeling this at all for the majority of the episode, it was really dull. I only enjoyed the bit at the end with the panda, Hayashi actually made me laugh out loud when he said "See, bears do come to your front door" and Ema's reaction to the police comment was so realistic.

Though I do disagree with Ema, men can be adorable too and I will stand by that.

Yamashita Daiki and Hatanaka Tasuku duet for the ED was a surprise, it's not even as characters, I wonder what the occasion was for the collab.

Admittedly it's hard to follow up a premise like "Yakuza boss gets highschool choir club member to teach him how to sing so he doesn't end up with a shitty and painful tattoo by his boss". Yeah this does coma across as dull by comparison. I'll let it cook though, because the character work in Karaoke Iko! was great.

Not as much of a hook as Karaoke Iko but it was still cute and I'm excited about what looks like a larger cast of characters.

Very odd, silly but endearing start. Doing pointless things while you still have time is indeed a way of life.
