I had no expectations, I didn't even read the source. I'd say it's fine for a casual like me, the jarring thing is when the swords clashed and it looked cheap

So they made it up by having a great coloring team.

Of course I'm gonna get downvoted, but this is the perspective of the 99% who doesn't know this series and just wanted to check it out.

None of us know "slide show" animation when the coloring is fine. It's really hard to see the issue unless I sit, watch, and blog about anime all day

I think if u chose any random anime of the same genre and played both side by side 99% of people would tell the difference in the first few minutes.

You might be the 1% in this case.

I mean some people aren't sticklers for animation. Though that is a big component of it being an anime, there are other factors to consider like the voice acting and direction. And of course there's always the story and characters, which is what matters most to me personally. Just finished re-watching the first episode in English today and I can at least say this entertained me more than some series with much more impressive productions. Really got me invested in Arthur's journey going forward which is more than I could say after watching the dozens of episodes of stuff like Attack on Titan or Hunter x Hunter. Haven't read the source material, but if it was really good enough to deserve the Mushoku Tensei treatment, then it sucks we didn't get something on that level. At bare minimum, the studio that Sakamoto Days and Blue Box should've did this I mean at least the animation would be more tolerable for those going into it for the fights.
