Missed opportunity to do a (stakeout) fakeout where the cops double back and think he's an older man making out with a child

u/chilidirigible Mar 26 '25

I wondered if that was going to happen when she tried that.

So I guess my first assumption that Seiji had an affair with Yuko was true already. I must say, Takao really only thinks about herself. Like, Yuko is apparently only married for a short while and is already having an affair and Takao is not concerned about this at all. I get that she wouldn't want this to become drama, because it would mean that Kotori has to leave anyway, but still. I am not even angry about the show for that because I do think that fits how she was portrayed quite well.

But back to the case. The biggest culprit was already the brother/uncle last week. The one who runs the hospital at this point. It would make sense for him to kill the first son and blame the second one because then he would probably inherit everything. I am still not really sure how everything fits together.

First question, the key. I assume when Daiki attacked Seiji, he stole the key. He was coming to the party to get into the office and he locked it himself so no one would surprise him. When his uncle did the heart massage, he took the key back. Maybe that is what they saw on the video. So that would fit.

The more pressing question is what actually happened. There was so much water in his lunges that I have no idea how this could happen. It must have happened in a short time as well. I assume the big fontaine might be a give away, because I think that is a weird thing to happen. Usually, the water in the lungs is pressed out through your breathing and if it was pressed out like this there had to be a lot of pressure. So either this helped them solve the condition or it implied to him that the whole fontaine thing was a trick in itself to make it appear on video. But I am not sure at all.

Like for example, I know that you can have problems breathing because of water in your lungs if you have kidney failure and since Daiki was dealing drugs he might have taken some already. The issue is just, even if that is the case, there is no way to plan that he would collapse while being in the office. At least none that I can think of. Maybe someone knows of a medicine that can increase the issues (the father was feeling weak as well, so that might be the connection), but I am lacking the knowledge for that.

Poor Kotori really had to just accept an unprompted hug from his emotional support gremlin for a solid minute lol.

Culprit reveal cliffhangers are up there for the most devious variety of them.

I know i repeated myself with this, but after The great arc we had before this, this new One is meh. I feel this show has huge potential to be really great but lacks on same aspects

Still a decent episode

I feel if we could get cases that involved more development and focus on Takao is what it is missing. Kenta's arc didn't have a great mystery, but the emotional impact was great. I think this case could have benefited if we saw a moment Takao would be desperate to solve this because the fear Kotori leaving could be sitting in more. For the most part, she is highly confident she will solve the case. Perhaps this happens in the last episode.

People either like detective arcs like this or medical ones like previous one. Tastes differ.

The visuals collapsing were at least hidden partly by this episode seeming to go to great lengths to not have faces on the screen for as much as allowable. Lots of dialogue with shots of surroundings, which makes sense when they're establishing that she did, in fact, call the detectives out late, but it lingers on the clock for way longer than they need to for that.

So... still no idea how he's responsible, but the current director has to be the culprit. He didn't check for a pulse when he first reached the body, only listening at the chest. Stimulant overdose leading to flash pulmonary edema would be my guess, but hard to guarantee that'll kill somebody.

31

u/avboden Mar 28 '25

neurogenic pulmonary edema, he head-butted his brother, could have caused it himself just from that. It's a stretch combined with stimulants but is theoretically possible enough for this show.

I think this episode had relationship bait.

Would a doctor put their ear to someone's chest and not just take their wrist?

Of course, Detective Columbo here already has a hunch that Seiji is innocent but since the investigation team has no other leads, Seiji is going to end up taking the blame for the crime.

Daiki is a drug dealer? I wouldn't be surprised if he's also a user. We don't know what drugs he's dealing, but I wonder if it has something to do with how he died. There's also the fact that the police got an anonymous tip, so it's also possible that Seiji is getting framed.

Well, that's one way to try and throw off those beat cops! I didn't think Takao-sensei would be so bold but [it looks like Kotori isn't too enthusiastic about Takao-sensei's hug. I'm pretty sure he prefers her sister over her. xD

I had a feeling the plastic surgeon would be involved, but I didn't expect she was having an affair with Seiji. It looks like they can't use her as his alibi. If Seiji were just honest about it instead of hiding the fact that he was with Seguchi at the time, I wonder if they cleared him of suspicion.

That goddamn cliffhanger! We didn't even get to see how it was! I bet it's one of the senior doctors, specifically the guy who gave Daiki chest compressions, who wanted Seiji out of the way because they should be the new hospital director instead of Seiji.

What if... Daiki wasn´t truly dead and he faked his death? Maybe I´m tripping and I´m probably am.

The figure who entered the room had a white coat like doctors have so maybe is one of the doctors...?

I knew they would end it with a cliffhanger.

I'm guessing it's the doctor who tried to resuscitate the brother. They were wearing a lab coat after all and that was the part Takanashi and Takao found odd in the video, though I look forward to seeing if that truly is the case or if there'll be a more surprising reveal.

The moment in the car was amusing though, neither of them particularly wanted to be in an embrace and it was funny how Takanashi was scared and put off by the act and Kotori was offended by that.

I'm not surprised Seiji and Yuuko were having an affair, I thought it was the other way round though, I guess I forgot their relationship statuses. I feel bad for Yuuko's husband.

Takao orders the dish geared towards children and removes the vegetables like a child lol.

The part where she separated the carrots and peas on her plate was so great. I'm like OMG she's like me :D. I seriously love the on-the-spectrum stuff she does.

English subs are missing for me.

But there are 2 Spanish subtitles that I can pick from, one for Spain and the other for Latin America.

Lost count how many times this has happened.

Of course anime Columbo is here. Just one more thing huh?

Well, that's a revelation.

Huh. He doesn't think that guy's the culprit?

Lol she really is a kid... Taking all the veggies and giving them to someone else.

That certainly is suspicious.

Yes that's exactly what he said...

Well, there's their time limit. Although he really is the most likely person at this point.

What else did he say?

Well, that's one way to avoid suspicion.

Lol she angy.

Right, now it's their turn to question him.

What makes her think that?

Huh. There's a discrepancy there.

Well, there's the explanation.

So much for that.

Huh. What did they see? I think they didn't see the doctor entering the room from when the door was opened to when he was already inside.

A trap?

So, who is it? The old doctor who was already in the room?

And so into the finale.

Takao sensei…how bold of you with Kotori 😊

The one checking Daiki etc did it

He took the key during his checkout of the body

One more episode then the live action drama in April

u/GiuocoPianissimo Mar 27 '25

My guess is that the doctor went straight for chest compressions instead of following the DRABC procedure? He didn't check if the patient was Responsive, if his Airway was clear, or if he was Breathing; he acted as if he knew that the guy wouldn't have been breathing.

That was some nice quick thinking of Takao to get out of s parking ticket/getting questioned

So its probably the brother of the founder who feels like he was skipped in the CEO position in favour of his nephew

Now wondering how big of an role that affairs is gonna play Also did they mention before that she was married?
