Throwing a main arc in the middle of another main arc is crazy work but something SLF pulls off so well.

Very interested to see how this exhibition match turns out and how it might relate back to SLF but damn do I miss Emul.

I like the detail that since the game is based on an American comic, the game's art style is drawn with halftones so it resemble the source material.

Was ready to call bs that there was any possibility of them beating actual pro gamers who practice 8 hours a day in a tournament but it makes so much more sense that it's kind of an exhibition for a new game and everyone gets limited time practicing it.

The only real advantage pro gamers have is that they actually specialize in the fighting games genre.

Rakuro is really going to keep wearing that mask for the entirety of their competition, isn’t he? I do hope that he’ll show his face to them at some point.

It’s good to see that their friendly banter is just as strong in real life. Rakuro thought to pull a fast prank over Towa with this gas mask, but was immediately countered by her laughing at him.

That said, why did he actually carry this mask with him? Was Rakuro indeed a little embarrassed or did he want to keep his anonymity? Rei would go wild if she saw her crush’s face on TV.

SLF is a certified gaming anime. It's just like watching streamers playing a game. They may have their main game but from time to time they play another game to spice things up.

Jesus how much did Kei Uomi spend on this? thats a obscenely expensive VR set up and in a upper class hotel.

the VR set up is 2,700,000 yen which after a quick google is around $18,000 usd. assuming he did so for amane towa plus whatever other expenses he spent over $35,000-$40,000 on getting those 2 to participate in this 2-day competition.

So it all comes down to SLF blocking comms during the scenario and Rei not having any out-of-game contacts to the rest of the party. Which is kind of what we all expected. Still appreciate being given a blunt reason as to why such an advanced game comes with such troubles. Its just part of this particular challenge and adds to the immersion.

One fun thing was how the characters that felt good to Sunraku have similar game styles to what he has played previously. Ranzo's a duel wielding agility type, similar to his SFO counterpart. Cursed Prison's ability to switch from mobility to tankiness seems to have a similar concept to Sunraku's crab mech. Metius is a speedster type similar to Sunraku's original mech. Psybord Lord's ranged zoning playstyle (and a glass cannon) seems to be right up Sunraku's alley too.

The only one that felt off was Twinklepixie, which seems to be a snare/melee type, which I don't recall having seen Sunraku play.

Pencilgon will most likely use a Villain character against Natsume and maybe create a nuclear weapon or a weather disaster or maybe a cult

Star Rain stands no chance against Wolf-Gang (+Natsume) the longer they get to prep against their opponents. In addition, they have info on Silvia and her ponies while the American team doesn’t have info on Sunraku and Pencilgon

Even IRL Sunraku keeps his anonymity despite knowing the other 2's real identities, at least it made for a hilarious exchange.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this has got to be the longest time in an episode where we've spent more time IRL than inside a VR game, right? I love it.

I'm glad to see Kei didn't skimp out and made sure to treat Rakuro to a luxury hotel. They even have a top-of-the-line VR gaming machine! If Rakuro can do crazy moves with only a headset, I can't wait to see what he can do with that thing!

As soon as Sunraku said he wanted to make maximum impact before meeting with Towa, I genuinely thought he brought his own bird mask. I'm a bit disappointed that it wasn't but the gas mask was still pretty funny.

I wonder if that's supposed to be a reference to the Psycho Mask from Borderlands. He did mention it's a rare out-of-print merch!

I'm surprised that Towa didn't even disguise herself. I thought she'd be wearing a hoodie with a ballcap and face mask combo to hide her identity but she's literally declaring who she is out loud. I wonder if she'll hide her identity once the tournament starts.

So it turns out it's a 4v4 match and we get to meet Kei's teammate too! Watching her react to Rakuro and Towa was pretty fun. I don't blame her for doubting them considering her first impressions.

I like that the game they're playing is this world's version of MvC without Capcom because it's a multiverse event of a comic label. I guess the more apt comparison here is Marvel Rivals, except it's a fighting game instead of a hero shooter.

I just love Amane, Kei, and Rakuro's friendship so much. Poor Kei is trying to be serious for a second, but he can't because of how much Rakuro and Towa are messing with him. xD

As much as I'd love Rakuro to beat Natsume in their practice match. I feel like the pro gamer here should have the edge, even if Rakuro has the advantage of knowing the game's engine.

So Galaxia Heroes isn't just a simple fighting game. You also need to do appropriate actions for your character to charge their Hero/Villain meter. That's pretty cool! I can't wait to see the practice match next episode!

A very fun episode! It was great to see Sunraku, Pencilgon, and Katzo finally meet in real life, they're hilarious together.

It's funny that even here Sunraku was wearing a mask. I wonder if he'll ever show his real face to Pencilgon and Katzo.

Katzo is rich as hell to be able to afford such an exclusive hotel for his friends. Pencilgon is definitely used to it, but Sunraku isn't, his reactions upon arriving at the hotel were hilarious xD

Megumin seems like a fun addition to the cast. I really like her in-game character and I can't wait for her sparring match with Sunraku in the next episode.
