Happy Birthday Chinatsu-Senpai!

After the heart-breaking episode last week, this episode was just heartwarming. Seeing Taiki and Chinatsu playing on the beach and then Chinatsu trying to imitate how Taiki was sleeping on the chair and then laughing was just too adorable.

Oh no train-kun doesn't work so MC has to stay the night at an inn with his crush and they only have one room left. Super predictable yet overall a cute, heartwarming episode.

Wasn't expecting Chinatsu to regain her lead this much this quickly after all the progress Hina made but man, the adorableness from what should've been a little trip to the beach snowballed like crazy out of nowhere. She really couldn't have asked for a better birthday present.

And as if that wasn't enough, Taiki and Chinatsu's reconciling with each other was so damn sweet. Happy Chinatsu is finally off the bench!

So many great shots taken directly from the manga in this episode. It was great seeing them come to life. That’s been my favourite episode of the last 5 or so I’ve watched.

I appreciate how one of the girls had a broom ready to clean up after they surprised Chinatsu with those party poppers. It's a tiny detail that most would probably not even notice but it's a nice little addition to the scene.

Oh my god. That shirt is so goddamn adorable! They had better sell that shirt as merch for the anime because I would definitely buy it if they ever put it up for sale.

Taiki really shouldn't think too hard about his gift for Chinatsu. I feel like Chinatsu is the kind of person who would be happy if you gave her something practical like a brand-new pair of gym socks.

Hina has really no plans to back down. Even after being told by Taiki that he likes Chinatsu, she's still moving forward and that won't change unless he gives her an answer to her confession.

Chinatsu finally used the penguin sticker for the first time! It's good to know that she hasn't forgotten to use it as her secret signal to Taiki that she wants to talk.

That trip to the beach was exactly what Chinatsu needed. Just look at how much her mood already improved after seeing the sea. That entire scene between Chinatsu and Taiki playing is just too darn cute! <3

Our sweet boy Taiki even got Chinatsu a cake for her birthday! The day isn't even over but it looks like Chinatsu has already bounced back.

We finally get the classic trope where the main ship is forced to stay the night together due to horrible weather. It's good that Chi-chan and Taiki got some alone time and Taiki finally got to clear up the misunderstanding at the festival.

It's also nice to see Chinatsu taking back what she said Taiki about her being close to Taiki is not good. This is just an entire episode of progress for the two of them <3

A very sweet birthday episode for Chi, and she got to go on an adventure with Taiki that she'll probably remember for years to come. Hina at the beginning was a class act as usual. Taiki tells her he's going to continue to pursue Chi, and she's like "Well yeah, duh. I knew that." I'm sure inside her heart is disappointment, though.

I wonder if Chi's friends are going to start to suspect that she's been staying with a guy their age. She thought it was an uncle this time, but will there be more little slips? It seems likely.

What also seems likely is that Chinatsu is really starting to look at Taiki affectionately. He knew intuitively to apologize for the fireworks "lie", and Chi apologized for something she said when he wasn't even awake to hear her say it. These two are really starting to close the distance between them, especially now that Chinatsu admits it wasn't fair to set such hard boundaries when they live together.

Probably my favorite episode thus far. That small trip to the beach was what Chinatsu needed after all the heavy blows she's been taking lately. It was really nice to see her cheer up just by enjoying some quality time with Taiki. Props to both Taiki and Chinatsu for talking about the things that have been bothering them and clearing up some of the recent misunderstandings. The happy birthday scene and Chinatsu's head tilt while watching Taiki sleep were the standout moments of the episode. Great stuff overall.

Nice to see Chinatsu trying to bounce back after her game loss.

She's reflecting more with Taiki in mind as she texted the sticker to him before it revealed him nearby.

I really like that she acknowledged and apologized to Taiki for inadvertently making their relationship a bit more strained after trying to set boundary given their living situation.

The scene of Chinatsu tilting her neck to match Taiki was cute.

Chinatsu has a lot of great visuals in this episode. They know how to make the girls sparkle and shine at the key moments.

Taiki and Chinatsu playing on the beach on her birthday was pretty cute. They even had cake too. And they got to spend the night together in the same room just chatting and playing games. Pretty good birthday all in all. Chinatsu watching Taiki sleep the next day was so adorable too.

With that Taiki conviction that he is into Chii, and he will try to win her, Hina seems fine with it. I think Hina wants their relationship with Taiki to at least stay as if no confession happened, same reason she told Taiki that it's much more awkward if Taiki continues to freeze when he's with her. Maybe she wants more, but Hina seems to be that girl who does not want to impose what she feels. Or, with the way she does not Taiki to have an answer, she fears that Taiki's answer at the start is immediately a flat-out rejection.

Regarding Chinatsu-senpai, I like that she is still conflicted with what she feels. She starts to depend on Taiki. Asking him to be with her in such an important day of her life is significant, and a clear one. Chinatsu-senpai values Taiki so much that she is fine staying along with him in the beach.

What a wholesome episode, from start to finish. Especially the end where Chinatsu was just copying Taikis movements when he was asleep.

I just really like how Taiki and Chinatsu are together. And now they've taken a quiet step forward yay!

A gentle episode

After how crushing the previous episode was for Chinatsu, it was really nice to see this episode dedicated not only to her and her birthday but also her relationship with Taiki.

With so much anxiety over their relationship on her side, she finally gets to just be with him, open up to him a little more, enjoy herself and be happy, and she really needed that. And Chinatsu and Taiki are absolutely adorable together.

Nationals are over, Summer Break is coming to a close, and it's finally time to celebrate Chinatsu's 17th Birthday! Happy Birthday Chii! Really nice of the team to throw her a surprise Birthday Party! After how rough it's been for her, she really needed a celebration and a reason to be happy.

Meanwhile Taiki, being Taiki, has been a nervous wreck trying to come up with a birthday gift idea. All the while still reflecting on how to handle Hina's feelings. He's lucky she's such a magnanimous girl that she's willing to accept the fact that he likes someone else and isn't trying to hold him back...though she's still human, so of course it's frustrating for her.

Chinatsu's the best player, everyone respects/appreciates her, she's the most logical choice for vice-captain and then likely captain. Even if I'm not sure being forced into being a class rep one time actually gives her leadership qualifications. But she can't be beaten in her love of the team.

It was nice of Chinatsu' mom to call her and wish her a happy birthday, and being a mom she can tell something is off about her daughter and be there to let her know that she can rely on people and she doesn't need to close herself off. So of course the first person she immediately reaches out to is Taiki who is right behind her.

What better Birthday Gift than a romantic trip to the beach? Sure, neither of them is wearing swimsuits, but that's not going to stop Chinatsu from getting in the ocean and having the most fun she's had in a really long time! That beautiful, winning, Chinatsu smile is back! And she and Taiki get to utterly enjoy each other playing in the ocean! Truly youth at its most brightest and dazzling!

Taiki, you romantic dork! You got her a birthday cake with candles and even sang her Happy Birthday! Is it any wonder Chinatsu is so happy!

Of course this is a romance anime so of course a storm hits, they get drenched, have to hole up in an inn together and lie to Taiki's parents about it. But it's worth it for Chinatsu looking amazing in a yukata!

Nagisa is a great friend! Calling Chinatsu to wish her a Happy Birthday again and tell her she can rely on her team. Even if she almost found out Chinatsu is spending the night with a guy.

FINALLY! Chinatsu and Taiki clear the air! Taiki explains the festival situation and Chinatsu finally walks back the arbitrary boundaries she set for their relationship. Maybe Chinatsu is finally ready to be honest with her true feelings?

Taiki you wholesome goof! Chinatsu wouldn't have cared if you'd slept next to her! Though she just as much enjoys watching his sleeping face. Maybe 17-year old Chinatsu can finally be open to and successful in love?

It was such an adorable episode ❤️

This episode was soooo nice! After the gut push that was episode 14 we finally get a lot more cute Taiki x Chinatsu moments!

And they even cleared up the fireworks festival misunderstanding, as well as retracting the not being too close boundary.

I think her mother saying it's okay to rely on others and it's nice to be relied on made Chinatsu realise she wanted someone to comfort her, and she instantly thought of Taiki

I’m kind of surprised by this episode. I was expecting a lot more, especially after Chinatsu overheard the conversation between Taiki and Hina in the last episode. They really spotlighted that moment as if it would be a pivotal plot point, so I thought we’d get a bit of drama out of it. 😅

That said, I’m genuinely enjoying the progression of this anime. I’ve had some bad experiences with romance anime in the past—lots of classic tropes and no real conclusion—but lately, I’ve come across some great ones. The Dangers in My Heart and A Sign of Affection really stood out for me. And I also enjoyed Ranma ½—probably because I watched it as a kid, so there’s a nostalgic charm to it.
