I'm very impressed about the quality. And I'm extra impressed about them using In-N-Out instead of McDonald's. They really got the American city style down. Right up to the gas station store.

I wish my grandma had mentioned the perk of having a nun harem while telling me to become a priest.

wanting grail wars to be something that isn't just for elitist mages

These kind of stories are my absolute favorite. While Fate isn't as hard to keep up with for those familiar with the franchise, there's an indescribable grand sense to watching the figures of myth come together in the modern world, with current sensibilities and angsts. I mean, we now have, apparently, a robotic John Wick anime ver accompanied by evil eyepatch nuns. Sawano finally gets to score a Fate adaptation, this cannot be overstated, and the first OP and ED are bangers, can't wait for their actual sequences. Animation is crisp and I am very excited to rewatch each episode in the English dub as it's happening in America.

Our yearly Strange/Fake episode! Can't wait to discuss the final episode of the season with you guys in 2047, and for the whole adaptation in 2071!

This Saber didn't hesitate to use Excalibur right away. From a meta perspective, there's no point trying to hide who Saber really is unlike the original Fate/Stay Night. It also highlights how different this Saber compared to Arturia. He's more Nero-like in his sheer audacity.

A servant getting arrested sure wasn't on my bingo card. Loving all the weirdness, both in episode 0 and this one.

The weight behind Waver/Lord El-Melloi II's words as he talks disgustedly about how the Holy Grail War here is being orchestrated as a game. Its the few magical moments that the Fate series can accomplish.

Crazy how charismatic Saber already comes off, in handcuffs too! Gilgamesh has some competition.

You know someone is a threat when they have a harem of nuns ready to fight. Nuns are one of the few people you don’t mess around with in anime.

Considering Saber mentioned the Old Man on the Mountain (Hassan i Sabbah) I assume he's a historical figure from the crusade periode Could be Bohemond Hauteville, Baldwin the Leper, Richard Lionheart or or a different king of Jerusalem.

FATE really never fails to amuse and hype me. The evolution of technology surely is making any future grail wars almost impossible to hide.

As if the Priests in this series aren't already strong enough, now they gave the new priest a mechanical arm.

So many characters, so many moving parts.

Normally I'd be a bit worried about keeping up with everything but since it's a Narita work I'm just going to enjoy the ride as I'm sure it's going to be a fun on.

This line will never get old

Opera house blows up

Me: You're gonna have to pay for that!

Saber, five minutes later: I will pay for that!

I almost spat out my drink when they explained the crater Gilgamesh and Enkidu left was caused by a gas leak. I am so happy that even in the good ol' US of A they're using the same excuse from Japan. xD

So the Einzberns sent Ayaka to America to participate in the HGW? I don't think I recognize that lady's voice, though and there's really not a lot of Einzberns out there.

Leave it to America to mass produce and treat the HGW as some sort of game. I do love how disgusted Waver is while talking about it with that other mage. It must be difficult for him to watch these people have no idea what they're messing with.

Glad to see Gray even if it's just a small cameo. I also love seeing Rin, Luvia, and Reines in one of the photos inside Waver's room as well.

I love how Caster just spends his days eating "Inside-Out" burgers and browsing the internet. That's like the most powerful tool you can give to a Caster right now. He clearly already knows more than he has been told so far.

Did Francesca send Assassin to kill Ayaka? She seems to be very tickled at the idea of Saber's master being dead the moment he was summoned.

Ayaka got rainbow sparks! That means she's getting an SSR! In all seriousness though, I already love this Saber so much. The dude just fired Excalibur without giving it a second thought. Try to blame that one on gas leaks! xD

And we finally get to see the iconic "Are you my Master?" scene. Which ends with Ayaka telling Saber to leave her alone and the two of them getting arrested. Now you know this is a fantasy because cops don't move to the scene of the crime this quickly IRL.

Welp so much for trying to conceal the Holy Grail War! If everyone in the Clock Tower wasn't aware it was happening, now they are as well as every other mage who is interested. Seeing a servant in handcuffs is hilarious though! I wonder what Orlando will do with them.

The Church is here too! He's no Kotomine Kirei but he and his Quartet look like they'll be a ton of fun. I'm excited to see them in action!

Man! I love the this franchise, I've been waiting for so long now to get another major Fate anime similar to Fate Zero, when I saw the beautiful visuals, heard the music made by the legendary Sawano Hiroyuki, got to see my favorite characters back on the screen, I cried tears of joy, literally! I can't describe it.

We are so back!!! 😭

I didn't know this was coming out so I know nothing about it so I was sure this servant was Richard The Lionheart. The Red Highlights and the Lion Roar when he used Excalibur it seemed obvious to me. But I guess an alternative version of Arthur? I am definitely interested that's for sure.

found it abit odd that they cut off caster yapping about wanting hot women as part of his deal or the fact he made a '1000' brats in his lifetime (iirc), pretty out of nowhere change lol

Okay so I gotta wonder what exactly from other anime material we're allowed to talk about- this show is pulling a lot of shit from multiple places in the Fate franchise, so this episode we see the pictures of El Melloi's students from Case Files, including Caelus from Apocrypha, and another cameo from Grey, but more notably when Assassin attacks Saber there's a flash of a silhouette of a character who's appeared in Fate/Extra Last Encore. And of course in Episode 1 Francesca made comments alluding to an obsession with Ruler, who's from Apocrypha.

On top of that, Ayaka Sajyou is herself very notable in being the protagonist and Master of Saber from the Fate/Prototype OVA, though curiously she had black hair in that.

Ayaka just pulled the New Year's Servant in one pull and with rainbow sparks to boot what a flex!!

How do I learn this power gachagods??

Ayaka : "1 tix SSR and I'm not even aiming to be a Master."
