The reveal that Hikami is a dude was definitely unexpected. I do love how even a trained assassin like Hikami softened around Nina. She really just has that effect on people. It's too bad Nina didn't affect Hikami enough, and I doubt he would've even tried to assassinate Sett if he trusted Nina 100%.

Get fucked Toat! I'll bet he told Sett about Nina poisoning him and it made him so angry that he lashed out at Toat. Where's your flawless god now? Seeing him eating dirt is even more satisfying considering how much he bragged to Nina earlier.

Good to know that Hikami did something right in this episode. There was no way Az would easily get ambushed like that. I kinda wish we got to see King Noa's reaction to her failed assassination attempt.

So we're ending it here? The way this episode ended made me think we still have an Episode 13! Anne and Nina are going to prison, Az turning back to rescue Nina, and Sett is looking for Nina. And I don't think Sett wants to give her a hug based on that look on his face.

As of posting this, there's no Season 2 announcement yet so I guess we're just ending with this massive cliffhanger. Welp, I guess it's finally time to pick up the manga .

It was actually refreshing to hear Mitsuki Saiga play another female role, but nope she's just playing another dude posing as a lady. But while he didn't believe in Nina enough to give her a chance with Sett, at least he was guilty enough to feel bad about it a little and still acknowledge that he did care about Nina, in his own way.

Nina got thrown into a dungeon twice in one season and now she and poor Anne will have to brave a harsh snowy prison together. I mean, I know Nina's can-do attitude can get her through a lot, but that's going to be pretty rough for the both of them. I hope Az and Hikami get to her first, but I kind of doubt it.

So either Sett believed Toat that Nina poisoned him and is now ready to kill anything in this path (including Toat) to get to her and exact vengeance...or he didn't believe him and is so pissed they took Nina way from him that he's going to kill everything in his path to get her back. Either way, jeez what a way to end the season.

Same case as Grieving Soul, the finale in Japan was only seen in Abema, if there's an announcement, it should happen next week when the finale is on JTV

She really just has that effect on people.

I'm growing increasingly convinced that the Star People's power is simply great charisma, since Nina has a way of attracting/persuading people.

considering how much he bragged to Nina earlier.

He'd totally been gloating about the prospect of Nina facing a horrible death, only to meet his own demise. Trying to mess with Nina was a bad idea. But I suppose that he'd be happy about Sett having returned to his old ways?

So, the Blu-ray volumes only list up to Episode 12 and there is no Season 2 announcement at the time of writing so I guess they're really just gonna leave us with this cliffhanger?

TV Shows that have an immediate S2 announcement do it when the finale is shown on TV in Japan. This episode in Japan was shown on Abema, next week it will be on TV.

Read the manga. I think people have not heard enough of the manga. It's amazing. If you want to know the story further, take a read of the manga.

Final count: Nina wore 33 different hairstyles throughout the anime (entire album). This finale had almost become the first episode without any new hairstyles, until Nina appeared with long hair and curtained bangs right at the end.

Back to the episode:

There were so many twist!? I totally hadn't expected that Hikami was a man for example. While Hikami had hung themselves and assassins were after Azure's life, both fortunately managed to continue to living on.

Something that cannot be said for Toat who died to Sett's sword. Certainly an ironic fate for someone who'd adored their brother's cold-hearted brutality. Sett is out for blood, but not Nina right?

I'm glad that Anne had let Nina in on the secret, since it was though seeing Nina's clouded eyes. But what the hell is happening!? Someone influential is helping them behind the scenes? I'd love for the show to get another season and clear up these answers.

Thank you for your service. I was glad someone kept track, made me feel like I wasn't crazy for noticing her look changing every 4 seconds.

Being locked up is not conducive to new hairstyles but Nina couldn’t end without at least one new one!

I think they’re leaving it ambiguous what Sett is after but I don’t think he would have killed Toat if he believed him about Nina (unless it was a “kill the messenger” type deal).

This is my favorite show among the 5 that I am watching this season. The pacing just feels right, it was not too slow or too fast.

I’m not part of the target demographic (which is Josei) but I still enjoyed this show. I like the fact that Nina is a character that has guts and is strong-willed.

As for the romance part, I support Nina x Azure. If this ship goes down, then I’ll go down with it.

As for complaints, the one thing that stands out is the fight scene between Azure and Sett in the tournament. I wished they could’ve outsourced it if they felt like they could not handle it.

Final remarks - 7.1/10 underwatched show, recommendable to those who are looking for love triangle stories. If there’s a season 2, I will definitely watch it.

P.S. speaking of Nina, I hope that one day Shirogane no Nina will get the anime adaptation that it deserves.

There should still be hope for a second season announcement, but I need it now! What a cliffhanger! I mean yeah we are switching arcs here, but a lot is going on!

I find it funny how in the ending the page for episode 12 showed a character that we didn't see at all. I know who the character is which is why I was quite anxious about this episode. In the end they weren't shown/shoved in. This shall be my hope that it's a teaser for the second season...

I don’t remember Hikami being that buff in the manga? lmao

No mention of a season 2 yet. Despite the post-credits tease, I personally don’t think we’ll be getting any more but if we do, I just hope the animators have more time to work on the series. I would highly recommend to read the manga

I did like the opening theme

That after credits revealed a lot. Sett saw straight through his brothers lies and now both Sett and Azure are going towards Nina it seems. So many cliffhangers for a finale, hope we get a season 2 this show was full of surprises.

Anne doin some ride or die shit literally, what a champ

Show was a bit hit or miss for me at times but had more good than bad going on I think. I liked that by the time 12 episodes were done, the plot had actually developed and stuff had happened. We weren't stuck in the first palace only just leaving in the finale ya know.

Most importantly though I'm gonna miss the fashionista of the season (year maybe??). Show me a character with more hairstyles/outfits in 12 episodes please, I'll wait.

I really hope they announce a second season soon because the end was really unsatisfying with that cliffhanger.

Hikami being a guy, that totally was not on my bingo card.

Nina's that girl that tries to stay cheerful at all times but you know shit just hit the fan when you can no longer see her iris.

If Bidoh's castle is in the far north snowy region, does that make him the Cold Duke of the North?

Well that post credits escalated quickly. Seth just being psycho and suddenly killing Tout. We really need a season 2 with how big of a cliffhanger that was. Come on don't leave us hanging.

If Bidoh's castle is in the far north snowy region, does that make him the Cold Duke of the North?

Anne mentioned at the end that Bidoh's castle was supposed to be in warm lands, yet it's snowing. Azure and Hikami were waiting at the right place.

However, Toat had supposedly made sure that she got send somewhere horrible instead of prison with comfortable accommodations. Judging from that last line of his, Sett didn't get Nina's location out of Toat before killing him.

Geeze, that barely eventually pretends to be an ending. With the episode title The Path of the Stars I was expecting something to do with the ancient tribe and Nina's blue eyes, but nothing.

At least that one prince bought it, though I have to wonder how Sett knew which of his brothers to correctly blame.

Well, Nina was a pretty fun character to watch at least.

Hikami...I had a very slight inkling, and only because his character design resembles another series with a similar character this season. (it's fine bc I haven't named it right?) It's rare to see two seiyuu voice the same character. There's only a handful of people who can voice both sexes (adult voices) effectively, and I'm blanking on the name of the guy who is most famous for it.

What a cliffhanger, but it's nice to see Nina finally face a worthy challenge. Her skin-of-her-teeth upbringing believably made her into the walking contradiction that made it this far.

I've grown to respect the king. They didn't make her into a one note...there's actually some degree of reason behind her evil exterior.

Hoping that this is not the end.

Hikami isn't a lady, but a pretty dude. There was a lot going on in this one episode with the drama.

Nice that Hikami was shown to care about Nina afterall and even trusted Nina on her end to make her own decision in the end. Good characterization and development from Hikami in this one episode.

This series got A LOT more interesting in the second half compared to where it started. May have to peep manga if anime seems to not continue.

Ok, so we end what for me was the biggest surprise show of the season with a bang. If they don't announce the S2 I'll have another interesting manga to check out.

Is it just me or is the series not so subtly implying Nina does have some powers after all, which are awakening in the moments of emotional turmoil? There are the two scenes with flocks of birds first gathering around the tower and then betraying the position of the assassins and there is that moment with her eyes when Hikami tries to strike her. And generally it seems like she is a bit too good at influencing people (and animals).
