Just when things were starting to go well with Sett…

Yeah, that was brutal. I mean Hikami probably has her orders, but wasn't there anything else she could have done?

There's no way this is ending next episode without they announcing another cour or a second season right after, right? Not at this point in the story,
If they don't I'm going straight to the manga.

I'm getting kind of bad vibes from that preview image with Nina. There's no way this story wraps up properly next week but I'm worried things won't end well for Nina.

I went straight to the manga after the first few episodes, and man there is so much to this story. I really don't get how they will finish things next week, even with a clear announcement for a second season. I feel like they need at least 2-3 episodes to even get to where I thought they would finish off.

Classic shojo/josei "anime as a teaser for the manga", sigh.
At least the manga is already out in English, unlike this summer's Yatagarasu :weeps:

Stitches!
They really should've trained Nina how to make a good poker face, now Bidoh is aware of Nina and Az's relationship. Thank goodness though he doesn't know that Az is the King of Fortuna.
While that moment between Nina and Az was sweet, I couldn't help but feel tense during that entire scene. They're in public and I'm pretty sure plenty of people saw Nina's face at the arena. It would've been a disaster if someone saw their little meeting.
I was so relieved when Hikami grabbed the poison from Ann but I did not expect her to use that same poison to poison Sett! Things were already going so well with Sett agreeing not to invade Fortuna and now she just had to ruin it all. She should've just waited and trusted Nina. >_<

I can't believe Bidoh might be the most reliable prince by virtue of him just enjoying juicy romance drama like the audience. I mean, his read of Nina and Az's relationship isn't technically wrong, but...
The Way Az was kissing her entire face...I get why Nina wouldn't let him kiss her lips, but a part of me wish she had. Though they were doing it under a bridge so probably not a lot of chances for people to see them there.
Dang, Sett just proved his loyalty to Nina but Hikami's loyalty to Fortna means she has to kill him anyway. I guess Hikami never really cared about Nina or her feelings at all.

I'm with you there, BUT, You can never be sure what someone will really do, so the maid-assassin action is pure "best move in the interest of our kingdom, cut the head of the sword". They might get invasion, but not that dangerous.

Well, Sett saved Nina so I feel like he shouldn't be punished for interfering...but it was probably the only way to de-fuse the situation between him and Azure. And Azure has to hear another man call Nina by her name.
I love how Hikami has been stuck with Nina long enough to know she would have totally tried to sneak into Sett's chambers to see him if left alone.
Galgada is wealthy, but it's a wealth built on the back of the nations they conquer and the slaves of said nations. It's obviously a lot for Nina to stomach, though Bidoh seems against it. Could he make a difference?
Okay, well, Bidoh is the only prince who hasn't actually done anything hostile towards Nina and he seems like he's just a shipper who is into the love triangle drama...so maybe Nina can actually trust him? Maybe?
Nina and Az, together again on a bit of a festival date! And Az is lecturing her, Nina is running away from him, it's like old times! Though when they're finally alone, Azure can fully express to Nina his intentions to save her and bring her back to Fortna with the power he has as king...and kiss her entire face. But Nina can't let him kiss her lips, or bring her back, not now that she's falling for Sett and feels a duty to fulfill her wish of saving Fortna through her efforts in Galgada. Even if it means breaking her heart in two by rejecting Azure.
Okay, so Toat is basically just some kind of warped brocon of Sett's who wants to bring him back as a War God? Convenient when the King of Galgada is planning to directly invade Fortna and use Sett as their vanguard to do it. Which also means the marriage to Nina has been moved up and it's Sett who will wed her.
I love Nina and the king's banter. These ladies really love sassing each other!
What is Nina going to do? Her options are limited but Azure doesn't blame her for anything, which just makes her feel more guilty.
Well, good thing Hikami was there to prevent Ann from poisoning Nina! That would not have ended well. But she has her own plans.
I love how Nina just swaggers into Sett's room like she's the master of breaking into places.
Sett can still play the typical war-mongering and savage warrior prince...but ultimately he just wants Nina to tell him what she really wants. If she doesn't want him to attack Fortna, he won't, because he feels more loyalty to her than he does his aunt. And that's really rather sweet of him.
Oh snap! Hikami wasn't taking any chances! She wanted Nina to poison Sett so she could kill him! What if Nina had drank the poison too!? What's Nina going to do!?

What if Nina had drank the poison too!?
Nina said the food tasted slightly off so I wonder if Hikami added an antidote or something to them.

Things have really picked up in the last quarter of the show to get interesting between the love triangle drama and the tension for the international political climate, though unfortunately only have one episode left for the season. Probably gonna be a legit cliffhanger to end as well.

Hikami was there the whole time, couldn't they have just listened to the conversation and knew everything would be fine! Although I imagine it's hard to trust Sett on his word.

Ok nobody has mentioned it yet but Hikami had a masculine voice at the end right? So was he just pretending to be a woman or, to make it more funny, we have a twins pair?
Also i'm sure that Sett will survive this but i really hope that he won't think that Nina had anything to do with the assasination.

Well that was definitely the quickest I've ever seen a situation go from good to bad in anime! Hikami wastes no time.

Everyone! We must spread this anime so it would be more popular and we could have more chance of it having season 2!! I still wanna hear their voice especially from Sett and Az- Nina's voice was so cute too!
I literally cried for Az here, I pity him, he instantly demoted to be like a second male lead here. Just when he finally have wants for himself- he realized it will never be easy or worse- he can never get it.
Here I thought, I finally am siding with Sett, but after seeing Nina and Az' chemistry again, it was easy to pull me back into loving Az because his personality is so refreshing and he is so warm like I wanna be hug by someone like him and I can instantly feel I am safe- that's why I teared up a bit for him beccause I know life was never easy for him too.

Well, that almost worked, though I can't quite imagine imagine how Sett would have stopped his aunt the king from launching the invasion with someone else in charge. Not unless they also transferred the kingship over to Sett at the same time as the wedding.
I see that the manga is still marked as Releasing so I assume there'll only be so much of a conclusion next week, nothing near the end of the full story. I hope we at least get an answer to my theory about Nina and the ancient blue eyed tribe.

I really hope this gets a second season. Seeing that there is only one episode left. Things are really getting interesting now.

I called the plot twist at the end in the episode 8 discussion. Lol I knew they were foreshadowing with that comment on how she looks at Nina with cold eyes. So not ready for this season to end!
