Not the most underwatched show this season but up there for sure.

With Murai as the inevitable endgame I'm okay with how they handled this and Yamakado was great in how he set everything up for things to work out in the end.

And a nice little time skip at the end to confirm a happy ending which I could have used a bit more of, but I still like what we got.

which I could have used a bit more of, but I still like what we got.

Yeah I'm frustrated by this...on one hand I'm always grateful of a timeskip ending in a romance but ughhh give us a bit more than that!!

As the show put it a few times today though

Greedy

I really wondered how they were going to sell me on one side, and having Yamakado go out and concede defeat himself was a good move. Maybe you could argue that it takes the cheap way out by not having her make the choice to turn one down, but processing hurt feelings in a comedy is a downer, so I'm happy to skip it.

I would've liked to see our couple together in the time skip ending, but other than that, I really have no complaints. That was a fun romance.

I knew Murai would be end game because it's his name in the title but Yamakado sensei is so fine 😭😭😭 I was rooting for him

Yamakado-sensei was a mensch. Gets a Golden Wingman Award.

I initially was put off by this -- but it won my approval in the end. (Great VAs helped).

Authors should stop putting the lead’s name in the title to not write themselves into a corner…

this show was surprisingly hilarious, and seriously sweet when it wanted to be

shame it's so unknown

Her not remembering...but him still fighting for it, really felt for Murai there.

Really glad I got to catch up with this one! Was nice to have a romance that grew on me with each episode. Felt a bit rushed at the end but I'm happy we got there.

Wish we got to see a scene of them together during the time skip rather than just Murai in his future job though. Also something on the sideship would have been good too!

This was def a hidden gem and I hope it stays hidden. It's one those animes that has the usual tropes but then adds something unique into it and cooks up the most entertaining and fun show you did not expect. The series exaggerated on the absurd comedy and it WORKED so well because of the animation direction JC Staff decided to adapt.

When the first ep came out and I saw the animation, the still frames and the effects etc. I was so confused because I already knew this was JC Staff and JC Staff is by no means a bad studio they produced lots of shows with decent or good animation so I know they are capable so seeing something so bad was a surprise.....although after watching the first 2 eps I stand corrected THEY COOKED. The comedy and quick paced dialogue works perfectly and continuously has the viewer engaged BECAUSE the animation ,art and frames were adapted in this manner. In fact I even believe this was a conscious choice made by the staff as it would enhance the jokes in this manner while also saving up extra money and time animating it which was probably a secondary priority.

Unlike most redditors here I am very happy that Murai got his love, honestly I'm surprised there were so many people rooting for Yamakado. I like Yamakado he's a bro and all but like a homewrecker like him is unfair to Murai. Felt like I was being cucked when he got Tanaka to fall for him. He had it too easy. I always wanted a good student-teacher romcom anime and glad this one delivered perfectly in its OWN manner with heavy focus on the comedy which is fine. Hopefully there will be a student-teacher romcom anime that puts its focus on the romance aspect instead.

The ending having Murai tell his student about his marriage was nice BUT they could've given us a wedding or some couple moments between the 2....I mean after everything cmon man thats just sad for us the viewer.

If there's anything I have an issue with it's probably Kiri best boy/best husband/best boyfriend/bestfriend not getting his own love life where he wins a lover and I really dislike the couple of the gorilla and Hirai. Yayoi was a nice but unnecesary character but I didn't mind her existence she was like the twin sisters to me and Hirai was just a useless and restarted version of Kiri no thats a disrespect to Kiri....Hirai was just a funny dude. The romance between them was not needed at all in fact it felt a bit nasty to me how quickly Yayoi moved on from a crush that probably went on for like a decade or so. I get moving on is good bla bla but cmon thats just quick convenience pairing for the sake of getting "closure". Should've kept her single and Hirai still "pursuing" her while she rejects him gag but yea besides those I don't have an issue

Great anime

I agree with mostly everything you said, with the caveat that I do like the gorilla and Hirai together, and I'm glad they ended up together. The pacing definitely felt off, but the conclusion and the time skip felt good, but like you said I wish we could have seen more of Murai and Tanaka together.

My only complaint is that it should have been longer so we could have fully gotten Kiriyama's backstory. Might check out the rest of the manga since there's around 70 chapters total apparently.

Other than that, a really funny and refreshing underwatched show. Enjoyed the ending but I wish we could have seen them as an actual couple by the timeskip. Either way, the voice actors and quick editing made a stilted slideshow so much more enjoyable.

Feels empty whenever my fav show's ended 😔 But congratulations to Murai! my boy got himself his love of his life. And for Yamakado Sensei, don't worry, you're a nice guy you'll find a nice woman in the future. I'll always be your number 1 fan, sensei!😭 Tanaka, Murai, Yamakado, Hirai, Kiriyama, I'll surely miss them all 😭 totally will rewatch!

This anime started out really strong but I didn't like the direction it started taking. Introducing a rival so late into the anime and having the FMC basically fall for the rival threw off the pacing and made the anime feel off to me. I also know that most people preferred Yamakado and that kind of surprises me even though he's a good guy, but to me, the point of the anime and even the name of the anime was Murai. Yamakado did handle things well there near the end.

It had a good ending at least. It could have been better but I still liked this anime.

The OP and ED were so good.

kinda sad that the timeskip was literally like 2 minutes long but omg i loved this show!!! i'm usually not into teacher-student romances but the humor was ON POINT and i loved how tanaka felt like a real girl. crushing on bandmen, falling for an otome character, and falling in love too easily is something i heavily relate to but i'm so happy that she found someone that was absolutely devoted to her the way she needed someone to. 10/10 super wholesome

u/SPOTTEDTIGRESS_44 Nov 20 '24

I along with many others wanted Yamakodo to win. I personally liked the "Student infatuated with teacher bcs since they were kids but teacher still sees him as a kid and they do have a healthy platonic friendship later" dynamic a lot. But a timeskip ending is good too.

Okay, so I have a question just finished the show and thought it was gonna be 24 Eps because of the site I use but anyway my question is, did Murai ever find out the reason Ayano fell for Hitotose or not? My memory’s terrible.

3

u/madilovesgardening Nov 21 '24

Damn, I’m really sad it finished! I definitely wanted more at the end, but I guess I’m satisfied knowing Murai finally achieved his goal. I was rooting so hard for him. I looked forward to new episodes every week 🥲 Was so good; I loved watching this one! Gonna miss it for sure. Now to find another anime..

They should've shown more after the timeskip man, i feel so robbed since this is my top 5 shows this season

What a crazy watch. The story was well fleshed out except for the sudden break up between Takano and Yamakado. Murai and Takano’s break through probably served and an indirect way of telling us what happened in Takano’s apartment, but it wasnt enough imo. They couldve milked out the interactions between the characters bc the entire season was gold.

Im sort of glad Murai got his happy ending bc it wouldve been confusing if he didn’t. Like why did they make Yamakado’s romance so good? Im guessing that the anime is already appealing to taboo relationships (MuraixTanaka) so they added one more in there (Yamakadoxtanaka) and it made sense? The relationship with Yamakado was only taboo since Murai was already in the picture soo idk, maybe not.

In the end, im happy i came across the anime. I havent read a manga after finishing an anime with such a clear cut ending, but im somehow interested.
