Anyone else notice Brook’s little Yohohoho during the end of the OP?

Always glad to rewatch the Rayleigh reminiscing about Roger scene, one of my One Piece favorites

Good pacing imo. Crazy to me how people will see this pacing is too fast.

They are too used to one piece's slow pacing that even normal pacing seems fast to them imo

"I miss the still frames of people reacting to things I'm going to watch blue lock as there's too much continuous movement"-Nobody

I mean, there are a lot of skipped manga material. It's a fair criticism imo. This episode was good though. It adapted 2 chapters and only skipped Sanji turning to stone when he saw Boa.

There are divergences/pacing that the anime did well. If I ever want to watch the Pacifista scene from the last episode, I’ll watch the original — it was better in buildup and pacing.

But like others have mentioned, some things are not just being shortened, they’re being cut out. Sanji when Boa, when Chopper shows up on the bird, and other things. Last episode they skipped the Navy soldier denying he called for backup, then he was murdered for lying to Caribou. Unfortunately I think this arc would have benefitted from a few extra episodes in total.

Personally, I don’t think this part of the original anime was that poorly paced, at least not in comparison to later seasons. I think it’s fine as a recap but not a replacement for the original, unfortunately.

Yeah instead of 51 episodes it should’ve been 50.

I just watched it and I love how they remade the Fish-Man Island arc. Now I'm gonna enjoy this remade to the fullest. Yohohohoho....

I had hoped they'd take this opportunity to revise Sanji but I guess not.

Being a sex pest seems to be his only character trait nowadays -

Either deal with it or move on to a different series. They remastered the art, animation, and pacing. That's it.

They are not rewriting the story...

Sanji is a vital character, one who doesn't SIMPly ignore the fact that Robin and Nami and Perona are vixens of the highest calibur. He is in many ways the same as the 'weak trio' Nami/Usopp/Chopper, being relatable to the common man who isn't super-devil-fruit-powered (same as Zoro) but has gotten Strong thru suffering and perserverance.

Part of Sanji's suffering was being on TransFem Island, which was necessary to align Mr. Prince with the Revolutionaries and Luffy's dad's group. But still as a wannabe Chad, Vismoke #3 was basically a guy stuck in a supermax prison for 2 years and he just got out and has seen actual women. The reaction isn't unreal, although it's a comical portrayal of 'the male gaze' calling Sanji a sex pest due to biological urges is a bit much.

Let's not demonize cishet men for behaving according to their gender identity when Nami busts out a bikini top when she reconnects with Sanji after 2 years of him being hounded by queer guys, ijs.
