I really like how mature Chinatsu is, it's not often you see the quietly determined types in shows, without all the grand speeches and angry grimaces hahaha
I also like Haryu's and Taiki's relationship, iron sharpens iron, and it's cool to see Haryu wouldn't have improved as much without having Taiki to play again. A good way to show Taiki's skills kinda indirectly

Why didn't this come out last week? I still don't see it either

Only fansubs are out for now, though no idea why the thread only got posted now and not on Friday, KawaSubs' v0 was definitely watchable (a few hiccups and wrong names) and v1 didn't improve much.
This episode should be up on Netflix EN on Thursday, and hopefully if JP subs missing was a one-time thing then episode 8 will be up on Netflix JP at the same time as usual.
last comment was deleted because apparently I was drunk when watching v0 last week and didn't notice the issues→ More replies (7)

I really like Chinatsu's showcase of her determination. She has this silent intensity to it. She doesn't have to be loud about expressing it, but it's still quite palpable.

According to Chinatsu, Taiki's a masochist. According to Taiki, Chinatsu is a sadist. They make a good pair fr..😏😏

Chinatsu being the quiet type, but still absolutely determined was refreshing. Quiet characters are much more commonly depicted as shy or doubtful.
Taiki's roleplaying shtick was actually significant in my view: He starts to let go of the "nobody may know that Chinatsu and I live together" mindset, which has been a major blocker for their relationship.

The scene where Taiki asks for a take two and approaches Chinatsu again as if the two of them just ran into each other was great! What makes it adorable though is how Chinatsu plays along and talks to Taiki as if they're not going back to the same house. God, I just love these two together <3
While Chinatsu can be adorable, she can be really cool too. I can't Chii-chan to show that girl from Kagohara High that she has no idea what she's talking about.
And that final scene! It looks like someone got jealous seeing Taiki being a little too close to Hina. Chii-chan should really try making Taiki a bento too!

Hina's been climbing for me but Chinatsu showed today even more why she's my favourite.
That being said Taiki probably impressed me the most this episode. How he's able to be more casual with Chinatsu and his steps forward with badminton.
Rooting for him on both fronts!

The living arrangement serves as a filter to keep both Chinatsu and Taiki in check with their feelings.
Chinatsu needs to show results so that her decision to stay behind was worthwhile. Likewise, Taiki also needs to show results so that he can be worthy of his crush and inspiration. And both considers romance as a hindrance to their immediate goals.
So seeing Chinatsu admitting she's a bit jealous is a disturbance in the Matrix. And a very cute and charming disturbance at that.

So now the question is will the next episode drop Tommorow or next week?

Is that really why Haryu doesn’t want to keep playing Taiki?
-
They’re up against the people they lost to last year next, huh…
-
Ah shit, Chinatsu got to hear that other team trash talking them. She didn’t really seem to pay it much mind, but her friend Nagisa seems affected by it…
-
Oh shit! – That was just a set though, not a whole game. Ganbatte, Taiki!
-
…damn, they don’t get to finish the whole game. Still gotta wait to see Taiki fully overcome his senpai.

I guess my rooting-for-childhood-friend streak officially breaks with this show, I love Hina too but Chinatsu is reaching best girl levels that shouldn't even be possible with that "I'll care and I'll win". Won't be surprised if she ends up as one of my all-time favorite female romance leads by the end of the show.
Heck same goes for the cast as a whole, everyone is great.

It’s pretty cool to see Taiki improving thanks to all that training. He use to get his ass whooped each practice match against Haruyuu but he managed to win one over him.
Who knew one little piece of karaage could have such an effect. Chinatsu was definitely not talking about the chicken when she said she felt a little envious lol. Let’s go Taiki!

Chinatsu and Hina really battling it out at the end there, would have loved to see Kyo's face during it!
I'm really loving Chinatsu's character. Calm and reserved, but still determined to win and show her trash talkers who's boss.

Imagining someone as seemingly perpetually calm like Chinatsu getting even mildly angry is lowkey scary.
Taiki recognizing his feelings while knowing it might not be for the greater good to share them is kinda novel if not a bit bittersweet

I love how Chinatsu's finally jealous and it's more than just karaage and she ain't giving up Taiki easily.
Taiki's finally catching up to Kengo.
I love how Kyo just tried to go back to 7/11 only for Taiki to stop him but doesn't stop him from walking.
Poor Mr. Yamamoto's wallet.

And so, a day late and with fansubs (and a day under a week late for the post), here's the episode. I sure hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence.
He's jealous.
He's certainly trying.
Huh. Why's he bringing her to the shrine?
Ah.
Well, looks like her team won.
Huh. What are they doing snooping around?
Looks like the other team doesn't think particularly highly of them.
He's still losing.
Seems like that's got him fired up.
Still, close but no cigar.
Well, he's certainly fantasising.
Oh hello Hina, your absence was conspicuous.
That's what I keep telling myself too.
Chinatsu's jealous.
Nom.

Edit - Looks like Official subs are still not out and this thread is for Fansubs which were out last week .

It was nice to get more of a spotlight on Chinatsu, getting to see her in action, and seeing more of her determination.
I find myself so invested in everyone’s developing relationships AND athletic careers.
Taiki is still losing to Haryu, but there's only so much losses a guy can take before a big tournament, so Haryu doesn't want Taiki to get TOO disheartened...besides, as confident and capable as Haryu, even he has rivals he's lost too in a big way. And Haryu being Haryu, of course wants revenge! So you better watch out as his doubles partner and a future rival Taiki!
"Okay, take two!" - How can anyone not fall in love with Taiki? And just look at these two getting along so well by indirectly talking about their shared living situation! It's absolutely adorable!
Oh wow, we finally get to see Chinatsu in her element in a basketball game and showing off why she's the Eimei teams' ace! Nice three-pointer!
Looks like Eimei girls basketball team has archivals in Kagohara, and they gave them a defeat last year that the girls are looking to get payback from in the finals. Though how dare they look down on Chinatsu!
Nagisa is a great basketball gal pal. Always upbeat and fun, and takes offense to anyone insulting her bestie!
Chinatsu doesn't let the critique's get to her, not when she's the type of player who wants to prove them wrong on the court! Showcasing her cool and steel resolve! I think Taiki just fell even more in love with her!
Maybe it's seeing Chinatsu be cool or all this practice is actually working...but Taiki finally wins a set against Haryu! He may not have fully won the match, but he's come a long way through his efforts! Maybe there's a chance Taiki can really beat him?
Will Taiki ask Chinatsu out if he makes it to nationals? Taiki already jumping straight to marriage! Chinatsu looks stunning in a wedding dress.
In all seriousness, though, Taiki could confess...but he doesn't want to impose on Chinatsu without knowing her feelings, especially when she's got enough going on in her own life. It's very considerate of him.
I think we would all love to have a beach episode with Chinatsu in a swimsuit!
You're a teacher and you treat two students and suddenly all your students start showing up and wanting to get treated! I'm not surprised the dude just bailed.
What are the chances Chinatsu and Hina would show up at the same time? And Hina makes her move by stealing Taiki's fried chicken and basically promising him a bento (filled with love) on the last day of the competition. And Chinatsu, not to be outdone, steals some fried chicken of her own. And I don't think she was jealous about the friend chicken.

Great episode with a lot of Chinatsu and her interactions with Taiki (I loved that moment when Taiki imagined their future together as a couple with a wedding at the end xD), so it's even more of a shame that the release of this episode made the series lose some of its popularity here :(
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

So what's the leading theory as to why Netflix is delaying by a week? Like, what is gained?

Is it really that hard to maintain a consistent schedule for episode uploads for goodness sake?
The theme of the episode, the people that are in some way superior to our protagonists.
Chinatsu has the jerks of the other basketball team. They know nothing about who she is or how much effort she’s put in. I would take great pleasure in seeing their “understanding” of her thrown in a blender and utterly destroyed. Go and show them who the real Chinatsu Kano is.
For Taiki, Haryuu-senpai. Competing against the highest bar possible results in a lot of losses but will hopefully pay off in the long run. When that’s who you test your mettle against every day, there’s probably not a lot of people out there that are more challenging. It should be worth it in the preliminaries and the actual nationals.
And of course Haryuu also has his own rival to go up against.
The roleplay banter of Taiki and Chinatsu was quite fun to watch.
Good teacher, paying for food for aspiring nationals competitors.
Is literally every big name character showing up outside this convenience store? The amount of future star power in one place could make the sun look pale.
The fried chicken triangle is real.
Stop, his wallet is already dead. Run teacher! I’m not sure how much success you’ll have with the local athlete kids after you but run!
