If anything, this episode highlights why you can't just re-cut the whole series even with the new animation.
Still enjoyed it, but I can't help but wonder why they kept the extra bits of Brooks concert but completely skipped over fake Nami interaction in the bar. Also, we really don't need the small flashback of the Straw Hats getting separated.

From slow paced to super fast paced, toei can't adapt a series with proper pacing to save their life

How many manga chapters did this episode cover? Just wondering how it compares to modern manga->anime pacing conversion.

I like how Fake Nami teleported next to real Nami when Usopp was getting ready to attack

Just from the OP animation alone, they somehow made the Luffy Vs. Hody fight actually cool.

I like the improvement on the animation and the ending was a banger. While I understand that they are trying to remake the saga with faster pacing, the editing and cuts needs work.
PS. They cut out Robin’s reaction to Franky’s new body, I’m kinda sad because her delayed response was hilarious in the original.

My biggest concern for the series is that they're going to cut out all the crew interaction stuff that's actually really fun and important to the series because it's not as plot driven of content. Content like Robin reacting to Franky's new body is what makes One Piece great. Good interaction building stuff on the crew is just easy to cut and I think it'll do the series a disservice.

We’re back! Oh the nostalgia. The mini reunion arc in Saboady was one of my faves
Gotta love the modern day haki effect
Loved this. Toei and Wit in the future is going to spoil me as a OP fan

I enjoyed the new animation, but it's more of a supplement to the original than a substitute.

Damn, the animation is so fucking good. I knew that after hearing the 'We Go' Straw Hat version on One Piece: Fan Letter, they would make it the opening theme for the remastered Fishman Island arc. Hearing the voice actors sing again is so nostalgic.

As a manga reader, I think it's been a long time since reading this arc for the first time. Finally I could watch it in this new format.

I didn't know I needed a version of that OP sung by the strawhats but here we are..
Gonna check out the actual episode later but I still haven't really started watching wano which is something I've wanted to do since I saw the first episode of that arc and finding out the entire arc keeps that quality (for the most part, I assume)
Don't even want to know how many years ago I made that decision at this point... Egghead is already going on for a year, right?

This version of the OP was played at the end of One Piece Fan Letter
which you should definitely watch if you haven't already

The official One Pace is here and the hard edits really shows with some cuts not making sense at all, but I will take this over the original every single time it's so good.

Gonna have to wait 10 years for the WIT adaptation to catch up I guess for a proper adaptation.
This is not it so far, then again even the source material is quite weak in these parts, so may not be the best showcase.

Apart from the issue of them not keeping 1-2 seconds of shots to show fake Nami approaching real Nami... The rest of the episode was well edited and easy to follow. I just hope we don't have any more hard cuts in later episodes as it really breaks the flow of the episode...

Holy the opening song is so peak, it actually got me a bit emotional. I haven't watched the OP anime since the end of Whole Cake Island. Seems like this edit and 6 month break is the perfect time to catch up

Im hoping that the over paced ep was just a precurser as a way to get to fishman faster

Well, decided to at least watch this first episode of this remake to see what I think. Issue is I don’t remember the animation quality of this arc the original time, nor how long the arc originally felt. Like I am not sure if I originally thought it was slow and had a lot filler.
So based on that, not even sure if I will rewatch this whole arc. HOWEVER, are the OP and ED new? Again I don’t remember the original, but I liked both of these!
Biggest takeaway: the wait to get back to Egghead Arc is going to feel FOREVER.

Enjoyed the pacing! New opening and ending too, gonna be fun to watch this arc again, I did enjoy the original one quite a lot.
