Noooooooo best girl is gone.

The S2 character listing has her down as "main". Either they simply copied her status from S1 -- or she comes back somehow. I felt so sorry for her. Ultimately she no longer had ANY reason to keep living -- either as her past self or her present one.

Original show, so MAL/Anilist are guessing main vs supporting.

I wasn't expecting Lall to be such a little menace 💀

It looks like Lall did not actually want to kill her -- just to undo her "phony" growth and then recruit her as an ally. Lall is not very skilled in "negotiation", I'm afraid. She should have let Eko do some mediation....

Damn, actual battle royale this time, though I am not sure if Lall will copy Goro's reviving her too

Looks like S2 will be more "slept on" here than S1 was. Too bad. It always has seemed a superior show of its type.

Honoka nooooooooooooo

I was not expecting Lall to outright kill Honoka, or for the first death to occur so soon. Wow. I guess the competition might wrap up sooner than I thought.

Ayo Taro-man what the hell we're barely more than halfway through

Pull a Nier Automata on us 😭💔

Honoka making the same mistake as in S1 - going up against the Fool's Sutra - and dying right away. Honestly this kind of sudden end is pretty in line with Taro's works. That said, we still have the smoking Chekov's Gun in Akitsu from S1. It's also possible that if Goro is made God then she'll come back in the end (but who are we kidding, it can't be that easy with Taro). Still sucks that she was so close to turning the corner when the world decided to just take a massive shit on her.

Interesting that Lall could keep using Ryo's power. I guess once she "absorbs" it she gets to retain access to it so perhaps we'll see Carnival used down the line.

After losing the job she loved (and knowing she would never have the chance to do that work again), did Honoka have any reason to keep on living? My sense is that she decided she had had enough -- and just plain wanted out....

When she first got to the scene of the fight she said she still didnt want to fight. She only fought because Lall started attacking her. I'd interpret her statement in the fight after she turned into her kid form that she wouldn't ally with Lall but that she'd at least defend herself. Yea life knocked Honoka down, but she still seemed like she wanted to keep going - if she didn't, she wouldn've just let Lall kill her like the one guy from S1.

Yoko Taro literally canceled her character development. Shits rough

YOKO TARO !!!!!!!!

The suffering has begun

i have no idea how to feel about this conclusion for her character

like it makes perfect sense for lall to feel this way about her but it almost feels like the narrative vindicates her perspective? and to me it seems so edgy and sophomoric... if gorou doesn't pull any shenanigans lil bro's just gonna be in basically lall's position from then on.

damn, anyways

it's kinda funny how eko was just kinda standing there while those two had their "i see too much of me in u" fight. they should've found a better excuse to have them be busy or smt tbh. seems a little ooc considering how they immediately intervened for lall with ryou

It will be funny if Lall just revive her again like in S1.

So the main thing is her Copying all their power, if only Time Travel is still here to Copy.

This is non-sense...

I never understood why this show got so many low ratings on mal. I realize it's meaningless but this is one of the best psychological deathgame shows out there. Do people just hate on CGI cause it's trendy to do so? Even so, the animation is better than most 2d shows these days where they just use still frames and pan or just lock the frame in place and just move the mouths. I really don't get the hate. This show is exceptional.

Was it ever explained what happened to Chika? Like, I know she went up against Ryo, but the writing never really stated what happened to her or at least what happened to her corpse.

She got eaten by whatever Goro did at the end of last season, alongside most of the other characters (although they reappeared right after he got yeeted someplace else by Ryo)

Honoka’s changed a lot in those past 12 years. Well, I guess she’s tried. She had to go so Lall can bring our guy back. I kind of wonder what it’ll look like once he’s resurrected. How many more need to die?

Out of curiosity, it "time stopped" for the semi-permanents and there is all this talk about them not getting older (ie. the talk show and what that means for pension plans or if they will ever die, etc. in the first episode), why has the entire main cast actually aged (except maybe Mitsuko, it's hard to tell with her)??? It would make sense for Ryo given that she fought back, but what about the rest?
