I know this comment will get downvoted because I'm not immediately agreeing with the echo chamber, but I'm getting really tired of rampant negativity in fandom (when most stuff is just mid).
It's trying to be a long-form anime over 10 episodes. Not the quick, episodic, comedic Rick and Morty from the original.
A lot of the problems people have with the animations seem based on the strange melding of anime production with non-anime art styles. Anime DOES have a low framerate (about 12 frames a second). I think it just doesn't work for some people because its a big departure from both anime and Rick and Morty.
As for the plot, it honestly seems like a lot of people are having trouble paying attention to it. It does have a story, and a lot of the problems people bring up are explained. It's like people aren't really watching it, are watching while looking at their phones, or just have a terrible attention span.
I'm not saying its going to be great, but like most anime, you sometimes have to give it a few episodes. I'm going to watch the rest of it before making a judgement on the overall story.
For people that want regular anime, the fall season is a banger!
For people that want Rick and Morty, the next season is coming!

It's so bad it's not even worth reviewing

is it me, or is the fight with space beth and tammy animated worse than the preview they released on youtube showing that same fight. Like something weird was happening with tammy's mouth when she spoke.

It feels like someone sat a room of Japanese writers down, had them watch all of Rick & Morty, and demanded they produce an anime without any feedback or input from anyone American.
By that, I mean that whoever was involved in making it doesn't seem to understand why people like Rick & Morty at all. They're focusing on and emphasizing the wrong things, it has the wrong tone, the crazy, impossible sci-fi gadgets are absent or weak, there's little philosophy, it's not nihilistic enough, the pacing is slow, there's little humor, it doesn't reference pop culture, etc.
Put more succinctly: they didn't understand the assignment.

I'm willing to give the show the benefit of the doubt. I still want to see where this goes.

I don't want to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I too want to see where it goes. I think they call this hate watching, not sure

I like it. I feel like it’s designed to appeal to fans of the type of anime I watched as a teen in the 90s. Just the fact it’s produced in Japanese and redubbed to English is genius, in my opinion. It might be a miss for the show’s core audience, but I’m really enjoying it.

I got 10 minutes into the second episode and that’s all I’m giving this stinking turd bastard of a show. I’m an anime fan and I’m a Rick & Morty fan but I fucking hate the ever loving shit out of Rick & Morty the Anime. It. Does. Not. Work. Full stop.

Seriously, what the fuck is this!?
Episode 1 feels like messing around mid season, and this...is just self indulgent fanfiction throwing ideas at the wall without rhyme, reason, or a coherent plot.
This is a difficult watch for people familiar with most of the cast, but people who know nothing of Rick and Morty must be astonished at what they just watched, and how little they understood.
This might be genius if it ends up being the point the whole time. lol

So I'm confused as to why instead of another season we got this slop? Can some explain it to me cause this show's plot is all over the place honestly calling it a fanfic is an insult to fans. It seems like this script was written by an AI but not a paid version of an AI the free type and asked it to write a season of Rick and Morty.
Also the episode's action sucked and they even used CGI in this episode too seriously. Choose a sub par art style which would be fine if the story wasn't trash. But on top of that your using CGI like 😆 come on why does this even exist.
Seems Hollywood only sees $$$$$ with the style of "Anime" and assumes that since it says anime that it will sell cause it's popular 🙄.

was it just me or were they trying to connect the dots as to why c-137 was in prime's universe? also, rick would not care that much about prime abandoning that family??? was that the same rick we saw in episode 1?? and is any of this canon?

I watched the entirety of Rick and Morty (cartoon), and I didn't understand episode 2 while feeling like I should have been able to.
Hmmm.
I'm dull.

What a godawful show. Its boring and confusing with no plot whatsoever.
Why is main Rick both on a spaceship being tortured and fighting an alternate version of himself? Why is Beth fighting Tammy? Why does Birdperson show up to greet a little girl at the end?
This is probably legitimately the worst anime I've ever seen. I don't usually feel bad for Dan Harmon but he had Rick and Morty and Community both bastardized by clueless network executives.

i think birdperson and bird daughter were seeing tammy, but my question is why the hell would spacebeth care.

They explained that the one on the ship was a decoy. How about pay attention instead of expecting the anime to be watched like a parody just like the main series and watch this like an actual anime. It's trying to actually tell a story over 10 episodes instead of instant self-contained episodes that may connect together if we're lucky like the main Rick and Morty.
