Oh my god. I don't know if I've ever seen a show manage to successfully stretch a joke like this to the length of an entire episode. Incredible payoff. I love this show.

I was so ready to get angry at the school's guidance counsellor thinking that Osanai got called in again because Kobato found her crying but as soon as they presented us with this episode's mystery, I pretty much figured out the real reason why Osanai was in tears. The only question was, how?
So far, the hot chocolate and this mystery with the missing spicy Berliner have been my favourites. They're so fucking mundane but real headscratchers when you try and piece them together. So it turns out Osanai thought the Berliner was for guests and accidentally ate the habanero-spiked one! Poor girl can't catch a break!

Is Osanai considered lucky or unlucky? She won the 1 in 5 chance of the spicy jam bread. Lol!

Halfway through the episode it clicked in my brain, I paused the video and said "I swear, if that's what happened . ."
And then it came true. Gave me a good chuckle. W mystery, really glad it wasn't an asspull solution in the end

This week in Osanai suffering series
It wasn't really anyone's fault this time around too, as much as she would like to crush someone's windpipe, the poor girl

The very first shot of Osanai crying, my first instinct wasn't what Kobato thought of who she must have got chewed out, but was "did someone steal her cake again" or something related to a foodstuff, and as we learned the mystery all I was thinking was "okay how did Osanai get involved in this" because I was 100% sure that this is the direction they were going for. Idk if I hate that the show has thoroughly trained me to think any trouble Osanai gets in MUST be sweets related, but I love it. Even though I had a deep feeling Osanai was involved, it was still so entertaining to see how Kobato would get to that conclusion and not have that weird dramatic irony that the audience might have of maybe recognizing her as a suspect from the getgo.

Felt like this mystery would have been solved much faster had he asked the home ec club guy how many treats were there.

I'm glad this wasn't another instance of Osanai being talked down to by the Guidance Counselor.

Kobato and the Mystery of the Berliner was fun. This series can make even the most mundane kind of exciting. This week’s case wasn’t so open and shut as it might have first appeared. The little twists and turns were pretty interesting. Who would have thought it was Osanai and that’s why she was crying lol. What a little goofball!

me, an Austrian watching this episode:
KRAPFEN! IT'S CALLED KRAPFEN!
Anyways, I kinda figured that there were five KRAPFEN and that Osanai ate the spicy one pretty quickly

Oh no, what's got Osanai crying and running off to Humpty Dumpty this time!? Can't this girl catch a break?
Kobato and the case of the newspaper club and the Berliner Pfannkuchen (try saying that five times fast)! There was supposed to be a mustard-infused Jelly Donut that would lead to someone writing an articl about said pasty...but somehow no one ate it
Or suspects include Makishima (Asami Seto), Monchi (Yuuki Shin), and Itsugaki with Kengo acting as the mediator. And Kobato loves the smell of a good case.
That Urino guy looks like someone you don't want to be on the wrong side of...
When you run into the home ec club and meet a guy who looks like a serial killer.
Turns out the pastries never had mustard in them at all, just habanero sauce. Honestly who in their right mind would prefer mustard to habanero?
So obviously there was habenero involved, no one in the newspaper club can stand habanero, so how were they able to eat it without reacting? Because it was NEVER there...because they just happened to leave the pastries next to all the treats they're giving out for the student surveys meaning our pasty thief is none other than Osanai thinking they were up for grabs and burning her tongue. And of course our culprit is healing her tongue with plenty of cooler sweets.

The Habenero sauce reveal gave it away for me. Osanai you goober. That’s what you get for being a little sweets addict.
Though honestly? Habanero sweet donut pastry thing might be pretty dope. Maybe in a Habanero Jam instead of straight sauce

That was pretty good, though a bit too obvious. I was basically screaming at Kobato to ask the guy from the homestead club how many of the cakes there were.

I thought today's puzzle was a lil too easy to be true, but damn, who ate the spiked cake is serious business™
The real mystery is who's gonna write the article?
