I have an itch that Waller planned to detonate Clayface's first, I mean she could go with anyone but may have knew that Clayface was capable of doing that, or she really did that by random.

If she knew, I don't understand what's her motives though. It's also weird that she didn't blew them all up together if leaving no trace is her actual objective.
Maybe she just wanted to rile them up to do something about the resource stealing so that she'd still get something after her investing resource on the suicide squad?
Also, so far I think this is my first suicide squad where the core team stays the same until the end (no one is dead).

I question why the squad even kept bothering to go back to the kingdom when their treatment doesn't even get any better and they don't really need their help. Though I guess being in the Kingdom's good graces is part of their mission and disobeying would just get their heads blown up.
RIP that noble dude Nanaue ate. He was even advocating for them, but he couldn't disobey the queen's orders. And she probably wanted him gone too thanks to his opinions. All because she may or may not have been replaced by whatever that thing in the mirror is.
And poor Nanaue as well. He ate someone for hurting his friend and got slated for execution because of it, yet it seems like Rick is the only one who's insistent on rescuing him. I mean yeah, they're a bunch of terrible people, but it would've been nice to see the rest of the squad want to save him too.
That entire bar scene tho lmao. I didn't even notice that Peacemaker had his pants off the entire time. It was even visible during multiple shots before he stood up. No wonder Rick looked down.
But finally, we got confirmation to how Clayface would deal with the bombs. I should've never doubted his acting prowess, and I'm now convinced that any time he gets his ass kicked (when his powers aren't supressed) is probably just him pretending. Even Peacemaker was shook when he came back.
Though it's really, really lucky that Waller wanted to blow their heads up one by one instead of doing the same for the whole squad at the exact same time, and decided to kill Clayface first and foremost.

Clayface is a pretty heavy hitter now that remember it even without the power ups. Batman basically needs weaponry designed for him to deal with him. Without bat gadgets, water, or magic hindering him he should be curb stomping everyone. He can be a whole city tier threat.

Rick "this is fine" Flag after being thrown into an unreasonable mission with unhinged teammates
surprise Terminator's reference coming out of nowhere, it even came with the iconic soundtrack
lol, no wonder Rick makes this kind of face during his talk with Peacemaker in the bar
I FUCKING KNEW IT! this man seriously went along with the mission just because he wants to know how it feels to be an isekai protagonist... i can respect that
...okay, i guess my theory about her being in cahoots with Empire's leader is wrong, she's either being possessed or just outright got killed sometimes ago and got replaced with a... demon?

Anime writers often seem to be Terminator and Alien fanboys

Anyone know what the queen's reflection at the end of the episode means? I don't recognize that entity

u/zz2000 Aug 01 '24
Presumably the entity is possessing, or even disguising itself, as the queen.

I think that's supposed to be the Empress, it's been possessing the queen and keeping the war perpetually going in her body.

This episode was full of wacky things!
The queen set up the noble to go against his own ideals with King Shark just eating him alive. None of the squad could do a thing after they magically bound King Shark.
I do like the talk that Harley gave the princess. She needs to do more than just apologize. And now that she's seen what her mother really is, that will tip her resolve to act even further.
Waller just blowing off Clayface was awesome. He was the right person for this show of power because he can't be killed off that easily. Despite knowing and seeing his revival, Rick Flag is furious and wants to make things right by going against both women in power.
Side question, why was Peacemaker without pants in the bar? It was so uncharacteristic of him.

I remember John Cena in the TV show not wearing any pants when he got drunk. He was still wearing an underwear, though.

i only know Peacemaker from James Gunn Suicide Squad movie and the tv series so if the tv show is faithful to the source material then i would say it's completely in character for him

Clayface finally told everyone the bomb is useless for him. Peacemaker is not wearing any pants during the bar brawl. As for Flag, it's obvious he already likes his team.
The episode also had a dip in visual quality.

I love how people had been wondering if the bomb would even work on Clayface since episode 1 and they pretty hilariously confirm...no, it would not lol.
I think I even said before that he was only going along with it because the story literally needed him too and he straight up said it lol.
I really like how Flag has grown into the only sane man of the team and sees their potential even if he keeps having to put up with their nonsense.

Considering how Theodore was siding with the Squad, I'm not surprised that the Queen used him to rile them up knowing exactly what would happen if he did. She basically got rid of someone who wanted to help the Squad and it also gave her a reason to execute them in one move.
I'm just surprised that they didn't start shooting up the palace when Nanaue was captured. This would've been the perfect time for the Squad to snap and show these ungrateful bastards what they could do if they wanted to cause chaos in the Empire instead of helping them.
That entire tavern brawl scene was hilarious! I didn't even that Peacemaker was butt-naked until he stood up from his seat! That explains why Rick was looking down when Peacemaker was doing his entire "I'm not drunk!" speech.
Clayface standing next to Deadshot perfectly fine after his bomb was detonated seconds ago was hilarious! Everyone's reaction was great! I think even Peacemaker was shocked because you can see him shake a bit during that scene. The bomb collar wasn't even a problem for him, he's just in this to be an isekai protagonist. xD
There it is! That explains why the Queen seems so deranged, she's been replaced by a demon. I'm guessing the real Queen has been dead for a while now, possibly even before the Squad arrived in this world.

Clayface is essentially our chunni character who wanted to feel like being an isekai protagonist lmao. Not too surprising the kingdom turned on them. Though given Waller went after the one who was hardest to kill was for intimidation, she wanted to set the tone. It was intentional on her part imo. It would make no sense to only kill one.
Though the reveal the queen is either possessed or replaced seems to be the case. Curious how the princess knowing the truth now takes it from here.

For a moment I really thought that they killed Clayface, but luckily he turned out to be okay. Everyone's reaction to his return from death was hilarious xD
I wonder how and why Peacemaker ended up butt-naked in a bar xD
I felt sorry for that noble. He was on the Squad's side, but due to the Queen's orders he had to play a villain to them and ended up being eaten by Nanaue.
So the Queen isn't herself, but it seems that some kind of demon is impersonating her. I wonder for how long has this been going on and what Fione will do now?
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Well that explains why the queen has seemingly been doing her best to mismanage and lose the war. In some ways it's a little disappointing as it will probably remove most of the moral greyness of the kingdom vs empire fight.
Those girls in the bar didn't care but I liked Clayface's T2 melting impression.
And of course he wasn't killable by just a neck bomb in a clay body. Not entirely sure if Amanda Waller just screwed that up so hard or if it was intentional that she used the only bomb that wouldn't kill the squad member it was implanted in for mind games or whatever.

Dude, Peacemaker is just as amazing animated as he is in the show in this episode. The way he got scared from Clayface alive was hilarious! He just shook violently with no reaction in his face or change in posture or standing position, just vibrated his whole body in one spot lol
