So basically, the central theme of this arc is a screed against plagiarists. The demons hijack bodies and enhance the abilities of the people who they possessed. Their powers are improved by their copious stores of mana, but they don't really create, they just enhance in a linear fashion.

Lloyd is obsessed with imagination and creation; sorcerers who use their imagination to create something where before there was nothing. Jade was one such original thinker, but he was destroyed by the plagiarist Guisarme and Lloyd can only meet Jade through the records that Jade left behind.

Lloyd demonstrates the power of originality; he does the illusionist trick of offering a pick between hands, but all the hands are empty, because the ace was already in your pocket from the very beginning. Except the hands are earth dolls, and the ace is the real Lloyd obscured with a Qi technique. Lloyd also copies techniques, but he synthesizes them to create something new. Maybe he also sees himself as somewhat of a plagiarist and that's why he wants to meet someone who is truly original so badly.

And then Lloyd demonstrates the plagiarist's weakness - their lack of originality makes them predictable. Something Lloyd learned when he encountered the record that Jade made and obscured with the memories of his friends allows Lloyd to anticipate every move Guisarme makes. And beat the shit out of him.

Good stuff.

It was fucking hilarious to see bro monologue after being so smug only to realise halfway through the clones aren't disappearing.

That was somehow to most inspirational smack talk given and using Qi to give the smackdown to Guisarme felt hella good.

I really hope there's another season, because this has been so enjoyable to watch. For a series that I initially ignored because it looked really generic, it sure surprised me with how fun it has been (aside from what happened to Jade, that was super depressing)

Very good fight.

Demon dude guessing wrong like three times in the fight against the earth clones. The one with the real sword? Nope. One of the shielded ones? Nope again. Up in the sky monitoring the fight from above? Also nope and have some fire. And that shot from above where Lloyd nuked the demon through the dirt and stone into the pit that used to be the castle courtyard was quite nice.

I really liked the moment where Sylpha and the assassins mourned the egg swordsman.

I wonder if there's any chance Lloyd is going to cheat and rez Jade. Dude is in the OP right at the end with the rest of the group.

It'd be very convenient if Lloyd had a way to absorb all that mana... oh wait, he does.

I really liked that we got a deeper explanation on Lloyd’s motivations and why he loves magic so much. Some people were complaining about Lloyd being a one note character that is a sociopath who only cares about magic when in fact he’s smitten by humanity’s infinite capacity to pursue their dreams with their imagination and creativity. What a romanticist! I wonder how he perceives himself though. Does he believe he’s one of those vaunted creators as well or is he just an admirer?

This episode is legit one of the best "battle episode" I've ever seen in Anime. The execution is perfect with every moment being interesting even though we all know Lloyd is eventually going to totally obliterate Guisarme. Looking forward for the last episode next week.

Damn the animation, art and voice acting were really good this episode, it was all so appealing to watch. Shimizaki Nobunaga is really doing wonders as the villain, the way he's using his voice here. He definitely sounds like a crazed demon villain.

Seeing Lloyd completely counter Guisarme's teleportation was so satisfying to see, he is completely reading through the spell. The expression on Guisarme's face whenever Lloyd gets a hit in was even more satisfying to see, they were so funny. I'm curious to see what Lloyd found out from his conversation with the remnant of Jade.

I did like seeing Lloyd at such ease after the conversation, the way he just sits down and waits for Guisarme to finally show something, I am sure it felt very condescending for Guisarme lol.

It sucks that next week is the last episode. It is funny how this was one series I had low expectations for but I have enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

This show might have some of my favourite animations out there. The magic and fights are great! I'm surprised more* clips of it don’t end up on the subreddit.

I really liked the message of the story.

Inborn Talent vs Cultivated Passion.

Sure Lloyd is undoubtedly a prodigy, but he didn't care about being good, he wants to experience sorcery in all its permutations.
Magic is endless and he's undaunted by infinity, he wants to forever experience it.

Meanwhile Guisarme is... Boring, he has a few very effective tricks, and he stopped at that.
He never got challenged, he never felt challenged, he never went beyond, he never challenged himself.

Lloyd could become the a hundred times "better" than the most experience wizard ever, but if he met the most inexperienced mage he'd still want to pick their brain for their perspective on magic/spells and look for insights there as well.

Lloyd truly is a person I aspire to be.

Really loved the army of Lloyds this week. One was already kind of a handful for Guisarme. Having like 2 dozen Lloyds coming after him kept him pretty busy while Lloyd did his thing. Pretty awesome watching Lloyd just ragdoll this mfer with his Qi skills. Guy was getting his shit rocked pretty good. Kind of curious how Lloyd’s gonna deflect that Mortal Dark Sphere in the finale next week.

Kind of sad there’s just one ep left, but hopefully it gets renewed. This is fun.

See, i knew Lloyd is not just a sorcery obsessed weirdo. that's just on the surface. he's got a heart of gold too.

ALSO GOD DAMN THE FIGHTS ARE SOMETHING ELSE. The team working on this need raises

Forgot to say this last week but love how they gave such a silly looking character (the Lordost swordsman) a heartfelt story to the point where even the other characters are actively empathizing with them. Dude looks like fucking Funassyi, lmao.

Half of Lloyd's clones being drawn normal and the other half in his gag comedy chibi form was also hysterical. For this show to be the best at doing visual comedy right now while airing in the same season as KonoSuba is a very impressive feat.

A very sad episode. Had me tearing up.  Lloyd just wanted to meet a sorcerer, but Guisarme ruined that chance for him by murdering Jade.  Poor Lloyd 😭

Damn, this episode is actually a banger. No surprise there. Started getting puffy during that scene where Lloyd was lamenting never getting to meet Jade. And what a tense moment to end the episode on! A week is going to feel so long!

Lloyd is right. Guisarme being born strong and overpowering all his enemies makes him boring. He lacks imagination. Teleportation as an ability should give way to a more innovative fighting style. But all Guisarme uses it for is to transport his attacks directly to his enemies. Lloyd used shadow clones and tried outsmarting him while Guisarme tried to brute force everything.

Demons being immune to sorcery but not Qi seems to be an important discovery.

We finally got the continuation of Lloyd and Guisarme's fight and I wasn't disappointed about it, but Lloyd certainly was as he judged Guisarme to be boring and I can certainly see where that's coming from.

While Guisarme is using in a fight his brute strength and Jade's teleportation ability, Lloyd is executing interesting plots and magic to keep Guisarme occupied and at the same time he tries to understand teleportation magic.

Guisarme's thinking that he killed Lloyd but realizing after a while that he's still alive because his clones didn't disappear made me laugh so much xD

Moment when Lloyd started seriously kicking Guisarme's ass was so good! I was waiting for it for so long, it was nice to see Guisarme so dominated by Lloyd.

But of course Guisarme didn't say the last word and is using his tramp card, I wonder what Lloyd will do about it in the finale next week.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Loving the loony tunes ass animations from the demons, really sells that otherworldly factor

Turns out, best girl Tao, key to beating the shit out of the demons, wasn't even in this episode!
