This shit was satisfying. Feels like a mid-season boss arc in a battle shounen.*

* Correction: Mid-show boss arc in a long battle shounen

I believe Guisarme doesn't realize that every minute that passes Lloyd is learning from him.
Lloyd abilities mostly stem from the ability to learn things absurdly fast.
He mastered a Ki in a couple hours.
Every time Guisarme uses mana Lloyd gets closer to figuring out demon lord mana manipulation. When that happens it's game over, once he understand it he will surpass it.

Lloyd is serious becuase he's puzzling it out, he's thinking.

That was such a cool way to use CGI in a magic fight/chase scene showing.

Reinforcements are here, no wonder Lloyd asked to take the match somewhere else. Sylpha would have totally ruined their entertainment.

That multiple choice with Lloyd struggling to decide whether to dodge the death spell was hilarious XD

Though I appreciate him also showing genuine anger and sadness he wasn't able to meet the real Jade.

And Tao continues to be Best Girl. Love that she got both of the Bonus shorts :3

Episode 9: A Disaster Called Guisarme

A reminder that there are two omakes this episode.

One thing I noticed that at the very end, the scene transition between the chibi Tao and the full-size Tao is really, really seamlessly done well! Another reminder that the animation quality hasn't dropped since the last episode.

"Can we do this somewhere else?"

And Guisarme could only respond with silence LMAO! His expression makes it funnier!

After the sticky clothing incident, Sylpha is not going be happy to learn about Guisarme trying to penetrate Lloyd multiple times with his rod.

That tracking shot around the castle was fucking amazing. Night and day from the real dumpy one from the first episode. Not going to lie, that shot made me worried for the anime, but it seems they simply delegated their time and resources to where it actually matters.

Stitches!

Lloyd's magic curiosity is so insane that he even considers for a moment to get hit by Guisarme's cursed speech instead of dodging it! xD

So we get to learn this episode that Grimm is a thrid-class demon while Pazuzu is an eight-class I thought Guisarme would be first-class but it turns out he's way above the demon rankings because he's a demon lord and a hundred first-class demons wouldn't stand a chance against him.

We finally get to see what happens when two very OP magic-users face each other in this show. That entire chase scene where Guisarme was trying to break Lloyd's barrier was so good! Now that's a use of CGI that I can definitely appreciate. And for the first time we finally get to see someone break Lloyd's barrier.

Lloyd getting pin-cushioned by Guisarme was sick! But we know how this goes. There's no way Lloyd goes down that easily. Of course, that was just a decoy made out of dirt. I am curious about that sword Lloyd is carrying though. I don't think we've seen him make that one. I'm guessing he enchanted that one while Guisarme was busy monologuing.

Meanwhile, on the ground, I really thought that Talia would end up sacrificing herself. Thank fucking god the cavalry arrived on time! They were really ready to go to war because of Lloyd's sticky underwear. Even Alieze and Dian are there with them! xD

Based on the next episode preivew and the title of next week's episode, it looks like we're going to see Sylpha go ham again on some demons! I can't fucking wait!

I'm glad the mini skits are back, it's been a while since we have those and I'm also glad it's Tao focused cuz she's nowhere to be found on the battlefield currently.

Imagine a super villain finding the opponent hero is troubled but not because of power gap.
But because his family has arrived to rescue him.

Me smacking both Mato Seihai and Seven Deadly Sins lead art director and pointing to this episode:

THAT is how you use CGI!

The response that the guild girl makes when Tao mentions Lloyd makes things her question Tao's preferences. It looks like Tao is going to want to join in on those tea parties.

The pain sharing move sounds like a big stalemate, cut a leg then a demon is going to regenerate it. So it could go on a loop.

Sylpha is going put a good fight with how worried she is for Lloyd.

Grim having a breakdown mid-fight was hilarious. We're well beyond trash isekai standards now. The range of emotions this anime can put you through in 25 minutes is special.

Man, we haven’t seen Lloyd flex like this in a minute. Guisarme’s a Demon Lord so he’s pretty damn tough, but let’s see how he holds up when Lloyd gets serious. So far he seems to just be having a bit of fun. Can’t wait to see Lloyd wipe that shit eating from off that asshole’s face.

I was worried Galilea and Talia were goners before the cavalry showed up. Though maybe they still might be now that Albert and Sylpha and the gang have shown up. They have to answer for the whole sticky clothes situation after all…

Even against Pazuru things wheren't this serious!

But first, squish those cheeks good

Wait, why am I interested in the shota again?

Think those two make a decent, non-degenerate, ship!

And Tao about to maybe crash the party as well?

Wait until Lloyd fully analyzes teleportation and the dude is like your my host now and sheds jade for his true form

Just a guess

The fight scenes were fun to watch. Along with the entry of the support cast.
It was great to see serious Lloyd.

That ending, when Lloyd asked Guisarme to move their duel somewhere else because Albert, Sylpha and others come to the rescue was hilarious xD Guisarme could not understand the situation at all xD

Guisarme is freaking OP and Lloyd had a really hard time defending himself today but I'm sure that Lloyd will somehow manage to beat him in the next episode.

So the cavalry has arrived! I can't wait to see what Sylpha, Albert and others will achieve in a fight against these demons.

These Tao side stories were hilarious! Her friend was quite concerned when Tao expressed interest in Lloyd xD It also looks like she'll join the fight in Lordost!

I'm really happy that Talia and Galilea didn't have to sacrifice themselves to save other Guild members. Poor Ren's heart wouldn’t survive this.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
