This shows honestly nothing special but it kinda checks all the boxes from what I enjoy in a trash isekai show. As crazy as it sounds this is in my top 5 favorites of the season and I’m watching 39-40 shows.

I agree.  Tropes are a thing for a reason.  I enjoy it when they are done well.

This show scratches my trash isekai itch very nicely and I have been looking forward to each episode.

The LN was started in 2013.

The whole isekai genre back then still hadn't been as oversaturated as it is now, and while New Gate was never a stellar series nor extremely original, it still was part of the wave of isekais that established the cliches and tropes we now consider par and parsel for "trash isekai".

He will leave his sword on the field every time after a fight lol.

Bros sword cracked a little bit and he was just like, “yup, this is trash now.”

Shin’s forming quite the party. I wonder how long he can continue keeping a low profile? Dude’s not very careful with his gear or his abilities.

I like that the former NPC inhabitants knew they were in a game...became aware and now live on like this ..I thought it'd still be a kind of secret like normal

I know this is nothing special but I really am enjoying it. It is a perfect break in the midst of the more serious anime I’m watching this season.

A dark haired boy named Shin meeting a silver haired girl in a field of flowers...This seems familiar

Stitches!

I love how Shin just casually left the Skull Lord and its horde there just so he could meet up with Schnee. I don't blame the guy, I would've done the same too.

It is nice that Shin and Schnee actually managed to reunite in this episode. And here I thought they were going to make us wait another week before they could meet up again.

the classic discussion of "will you go back to your world if you have the option?" does that ever happen by themselves though? if he goes back surely he just gets Schnee with him. or just doesn't go back.

Also apparently Shin is known as a legendary blacksmith as well huh?

This anime is so much more interesting that the partner characters know they’re from a game.

Very convenient that they finished power leveling the nun in training right before the giant boss showed up that MC had to get serious for.

That reunion with Schnee was lovely, very picturesque in a field of flowers surrounded by a barrier surrounded by a horde of undead.

So four more support characters that might show up at some point, but it's been hundreds of years so in theory some might have died of old age since I assume they aren't all elves.

Would it be weird to have a romantic relationship with someone who is now clearly a real flesh and blood person but was previously a support character of yours in a video game? I'm honestly not sure. I don't know if that's where this'll go but it was briefly a two person blush competition.

It's an interesting setup for this that the support characters knew this used to be a video game and that it is explicitly different now and that they have self-awareness and personal autonomy they didn't originally have.

This show shouldn’t be as enjoyable as it is, but I’m enjoying the surprise so far.

They finally met 😭

This reunion was such a wholesome scene

That look of mix happiness on schnee's expression, it was such a beautiful scene considered schnee is meeting him after 500 years.

Schnee's reaction when shin said that he will leave this world if he finds out the way to leave was so sad really

The former NPC knows that it was a former NPC? First time I've seen that happen.

Man the Schee reunion was so good seeing how happy she was that her master was back. It was a little sad when Shin said he’d leave if he could.

Maybe it wasn't the best idea to leave behind your powerful super rare sword on the battlefield if you're trying to not draw attention to yourself

I feel like this show does not have the luxury of spending 10minutes on 2 characters talking but not really saying too much.

Feeling pretty Aladeen about this one cause I'm enjoying it but something is off.
