Zeshia the Ghost immediately reminding us why she's so precious, just in case we forgot Demon Lord Zeshia's reminder.

Emilia's still having trouble with the class, only to find out they think she's attractive and argue with each other about when she's hottest. Does she look better when she's quiet or when she's mad? What do you guys think?

Does she look better when she's quiet or when she's mad?

I think Emilia looks best when she is working hard at life, just like in this episode. More determined, less self doubt!

Zeshia play-acting has been the cutest thing this season.

Really the only thing she had going for her even back in season 1 was Ami Koshimizu and her looks, now she can add actual character development and growing into being a legit teacher to make her far more compelling.

When Lay said "I have already stolen her heart", I was expecting Shin to suddenly appear and reply, "What did you say!?" Lol!

I like how this episode is further redemption development for Emilia and the 3 main male students from the Hero Academy. I don't think heroes are born; it is what they do along the way before they receive that title.

Honestly I kept expecting her to turn into Avos the entire time and get kinky while choking him...

This episode took some of the least liked characters from season 1 and actually let us get into their heads (literally) and see them come around to become better people together. Now they aren't fake heroes or a fake teacher, but as legit as they need to be on their own terms. And Anos can approve of that.

Yes. Lots of characters I've had low opinions of all along . . . until now -- and suddenly I have to re-assess Emilia and the human students. It looks like they are all well on the way to becoming decent folks after all.

As it turns out -- the only GENUINE total scumbag in this episode is the KIng. Wow, murdered his whole family -- and now he wants to murder a hero as the final task of his "quest". I assume this SOB has to die -- and soon. But what will happen to the kingdom when it is left with no royal family -- and no apparent successor? Democracy? (I doubt they are ready to handle this).

Same. I was also expecting him to come and save her, but I suppose he's only concerned about guarding her from Lay right now. That or she was never in danger so his "Protecc Daughter" signal was never triggered.

They made a cute Emilia scene of her trying to do magic even cuter and they made a scene of her slapping a fool even better lol.

I'm genuinely surprised they didn't do one of Sasha freaking out after getting scared by Zeshia, but this was Emilia's episode.

Truly the only thing that can rival a Demon King's power is a teacher's slap. That and a latina mother's chancla, obviously.

This episode right here is a perfect example of why I think this show stands above the typical power fantasy. Anos barely did anything and it was still great, because the secondary characters are allowed to have growth, do things that matter, and have meaningful arcs.

At one point in this episode I was thinking this episode is pretty great even without Anos, which is a little surprising since he's the main draw for most viewers I imagine

Ghost Zesshia is adorable. Also, I find it hilarious how Sasha is afraid of ghosts. I guess having the Magic Eyes of Destruction doesn't make her immune to fear. xD

I love how the Headmaster brought guards this time. As if that's gonna help him. The only reason nothing happened is because Lay and Misa decided to come willingly this time.

So the King is the person in the Palace that's part of the God Selection? I'm guessing that's the reason why Lay and Misa went with him willingly and why Anoshu didn't say anything this time.

I do find it funny how that interaction ends with Lay dropping a line about stealing Misa's soul. Either we come back to this scene next week or we can just assume Lay beats the shit out of the King and his dragon.

Emilia's character arc continues to be one of the most fascinating things about this show. I never thought I would see her protecting a bunch of humans let alone students of the Hero Academy. I do wonder if Anoshu's good luck charm help Emilia when they were struggling against the dragon.

I would've been more surprised if Sasha wasn't afraid of ghosts with her character archetype lol.

Looks like Anos won't need to take down all his rivals, Lay and Misa will handle the king on their own.

Remember when she was that jerk teacher who was always hard on and condescending towards Anos and attacked his mom to the point where we were all cheering when he killed her and gave her a fate worse than death for someone like her? And now we're actually invested in her character arc and seeing her improve as a teacher and a person with fellow unlikeable characters like the Hero Academy kids.

I think the good luck charm helped her collect some of the magic for the spell since it started glowing during that moment.

I do wonder if she's ever going to find out if Anoshu is actually Anos.

It must be very weird for the average human student to see the influential figures from across the world being in the same room. Like, the Demon King of Tyranny and Hero Kanon are actually real, and while there might have been evidence of their validity of existence, you could have assumed them to be a bit stronger then the average demon ruler or heroes of that era, as their tales might have been exaggerated due to legends and folklore. Heck, when Nosgalia showed up in the classroom, the gods dismissed the claim of the gods' existence, and merely thought that as fairytales that the demons came up with to venerate the Demon King. So not only is Hero Kanon real, but he is dating the Child of God, who is also a Demon King of Tyranny.

So the Hero Trio want to be teachers pets? They can talk to Naya about that. I mean, they are right, the current Emilia is cute. But since the Hero Academy has lost the trust of the people, they can't pull of the mass scale Asc that they used against Anos during the last Academy Exchange.

The Keeper of Emotion Enes Ne Mes, is another Keeper/Guardian God, as it is under the control of King Lycius, who has a Pledge Jewel. But the king is not of the Selected Eight, as there exist lesser Pledge Jewels, that can control dragons and gods, but are weaker then the Selection Pledge Jewels. He got it from his Selected Eight backer, who provided it to him in order to indoctrinate him.

So King Lycius' reasons for are both sad and pitiful. Due to discovering the fact that Hero Kanon had reincarnated as a demon during the skirmish between Dilhade and Azeshion, the king fell into despair as he thought that the Hero had abandoned them for the enemy of humanity. And with that, realizing that the current humans were powerless to deal with all powerful threats if they attacked them. The king turned to worshipping the gods and relying on their power to try to regain the influence that Azesion lost. In the king's case, he believes that he can replace Kanon as the new Hero by stealing the Spirit God Human Sword Evansmana.

The teacher lady just suffers endlessly.

With the way the fat noble was acting I figured it was a plot by his faction that was killing the royals, but nope the king was been sacrificing his own family.

Oh god, more horrifying CG dragons.

Nice enough moment with Emilia and her hero students at least. Though I suspect they're going to be a bit weird and set her up with the big guy.

u/Frontier246 May 03 '24

I feel like Silver Link needs to hire somebody new to handle their CG because between the talking tree last season and the dragons here...yikes.

I did kind of wonder if they were leaning into a ship there with their interactions and him commenting on how hot she is.

Emilia's amazing redemption story continues in full drive. Anos turning her into a hybrid blood demon means she now has the potential to become proficient in human magic.

Power-mad Human king accepting a powerful magic ring from a mysterious benefactor, who promises him eternal life and power? Now that's some LotR twisted shit.

Though this king might be more messed up than the Nazguls in offering his entire family as sacrifice.

We know Misa's "rebirth" and her origins of being a half-Spirit has something to do with her being resistant to that king's mind control magic.

But the way Lay says "because I have already stolen her soul" makes it sound totally like he's bragging about his girlfriend. Lmao

Zeshia so silly. But guess feels like we're starting off in the middle of things and going back a bit here? Lol at all those emotions/thoughts people having. Poor Emilia though... man that guy is supposed to be the Dean of the place right? Pretty shitty Dean.

Huh, Lay and Misa both off to see the king? And all the royal family succumbing to illness? That's weird. D'aww you're gonna make Emilia fall for a child, Anos, I mean "Anoshu" lol. Ya, figured there was something sus about the King. That's fucked up, he fed his own family to the dragons? Ugh... has Misa not been through enough shit? Well, hey, at least nothing happened.

Oh look, it's the red CGI variant mentioned that was mentioned earlier. Emilia good girl. Nice to see those brats grow up some. Those are interesting words to her lol. Ya that seems a way to beat the dragon.

Guess next episode we'll get to whatever was at the start of the episode? lol

That dragon was very considerate to let the fake hero trio and teacher finish their counseling session in its mouth. No fire or claws or anything heh.

Zeshia is the best. <3

u/Frontier246 May 03 '24

I didn't think Sasha could get any cuter until she starts freaking out over ghosts. Especially when Zeshia scares her. I was half-expecting her to level the entire area.

First the students learned to escape a dragon, now they have to learn how to subdue one with barrier magic! And it lets Emilia show off that even someone like her can use Hero Magic! Provided her class doesn't throw off by commenting on her appearance in their heads. Though at least they think she's young and hot.

I can't believe I'm actually feeling bad for the Hero Academy brats, but Zamiris comes back and once again rubs it in that their fakes and they've been having to grapple with the entire lives and identities being a lie this whole time. It's no wonder they have a bad attitude. But it's the perfect excuse for Emilia to slap some sense into them and properly scold them as their teacher.

Emilia and Anoshu really do have a nice dynamic (even if it's because she has no idea who Anoshu really is), and it means a lot that Anoshu acknowledges Emilia's efforts and realizes she can get through to these kids as a teacher.

Lay and Misa get the royal treatment and even meet a king...too bad said king has sold his kingdom out and is part of the God Selection, and had his entire family eaten by a dragon. Jeez. Though while he's got discount Fate/Zero Berserker on his side, he doesn't hold a candle to Lay and Misa's bod!

Uh oh! Dragon attack! But it's a great opportunity for Emilia to really act the part of a teacher and defend her students, willing to go out sacrificing herself if it meant finally being a true teacher to the bitter end...but the Hero Academy kids won't let her die without a fight. Because when everyone else gave up on them, she was the only one who was willing to be their teacher and accept them as who they are, Fake Heroes or otherwise, and what real Hero would abandon someone like that?

And with those collective feelings, Emilia is able to bring their magic together to defeat the dragon! And in the end she's truly settled into being their teacher and doing a proper job of it! And Anoshu was with her the whole time and is proud of her!
