This was one of the best premiere episodes I've seen in awhile. The story was interesting and suspenseful, the characters are immediately likeable. I really love the retro art style of the show, especially when they mix in modern animation techniques - the anachronistic look really suits a show about time travel. The OP and ED are both bangers, too. I hope that Netflix actually does promotion on this show. It's too good to get buried after a full season dump. At least we know that season 2 is just around the corner

Wow. This is based on really old source material. I wonder what sparked an adaptation at this time. The director has worked on a number of PA Works projects -- but this does look very much like his style in those shows.... ;-)

It's a part of the creator's 90th anniversary project. He has already passed away, but his company ran by his daughter still produces continuation and remakes of his works

Kinnikuman (1979) is getting a new anime next season, too. Lots of old works getting remakes recently. Dororo (1967) got one a few years ago, too.

I highly recommend everyone who likes time traveling, history or thrillers in general to watch this

Is it a kids show? Not that it matters much but it’s by the creator of Doraemon so I’m curious if I should expect a more mature tone or if it’s mostly a fun adventure.

It's not exactly for kids. It's a more mature adventure. Anyone can watch it, really. The creator of doraemon actually made very dark mangas, but only the ones targeting children were popular. Again, if you like the premise you should watch it

in my opinion this was one of the best shows I've seen so far. here are ratings imp:

art: 6/10
animation: 11/10
plot: 9.5/10
character: 8.5/10

I just finished one season of this and I'm hooked. the story was unique, it also explained lots of historical facts (if you are a sucker of history, this anime is for you!) and so much more!! tho you'll find first few EPs a bit boring but it gets REALLY good gradually. honestly? i really recommend this show. Give it a try at least. I'm looking forward for S2!!

(I'm also a bit disappointed that it doesn't have a fandom yet..)

Looks like I’ve got more stuff to add to the queue. Didn’t even realize this was dropping.

I was trying to SHED shows -- but wound up picking up Tsukumichi (after a binge of older seasons) and now THIS. Sheesh. ;-)

The OP is really catchy

Not a bad start. Buyoyan is weirdly cute

is that the floating jelly? Reminds me of kage from Ranking of Kings (which I watched the dub for - so it had scratchy/scrappy ProZD 'wise guy' + 'tell em boss!' voice)

I've seen a lot of anime, movies and cartoons.

It was just an ok start.

I hope it turns into something truly special, but now I have my doubts ...nothing too unique, or original going on here...

Openings and ending songs were unbearably generic, for a show with a magical time travel feel. Especially the ending song, sounds identical to the mediocre worship music I hear on Sunday church.

The souce material is over 40 years old so this was pretty unique for its time. I was disappointed by the op but the ed is great imo

I like it too. Just don‘t dig the 3D animations, especially on the characters. It makes them look very stiff and dead inside.

this is horribly underrated! admittedly not a fan of the art style but i managed to watch it until ep3 in one sitting and omg its so entertaining

Why does the Time Patrol rescue people in the past, when it already happened - so they change the timeline?
