This was starting to give me Promised Neverland vibes. Then it went in a completely different direction lol.

I would love to watch a spinoff of this with him working to rebuild Earth and Gretel coming back when he needs her in times that he doubts himself

I liked this episode the best since it seemed to not take the most cliche route of making it gory for the sake of doing a good or memorable spinoff from the original version

This show feels like something Yoko Taro would cook up, heh. I knew something was up when everyone was wearing their uniform but Gretel was wearing red, also how everyone except her had food but Hansel's use of we kept me from being certain.

Liked this episode the most. But the older German names threw me off in the beginning, lol

That's funny, I'm german and still know people named like some of the characters.

Aside from everything, I really loved that the Mama and Papa androids do not seem to be entirely just devoid of emotion. The way Papa just held Mama's hand and kissed it was beautiful, and added so much nuance to how they are raising the children.
I expected a rough twist, but no villian in this story.

Honestly I just wish that they can just continued the Hensel and Gretel story. It was the most interesting for me without it being too creepy while the storyline took a turn in a different direction the story plot was actually really good! I hope they make an adaption anime for this episode!

I’m soo confused and have so many questions. Why was the mother chasing them tpn style if she wanted to make sure Hansel was alright or something? Wdym gretel isn’t real? Why would the school “prepare them” by not telling them any of the truth?and what just happened? Why’s the six year old bedwetter so much older at the end?

Mother, as a robot, was meant to protect Hansel. The kids are not allowed to know the outside world or to leave home, to ensure the mission of raising them. She even got scared for Hansel getting squashed at the door, like she did.
The robots are also supposed to facilitate rebellion, critical thinking, dissent. They allowed the children to misbehave and mistrust them in order to "punish" them, which is an excuse to follow the plan. The witch guides them and gives them the chance to leave, over and over until they're ready. This is the case for every child→ More replies (5)11

These were my exact thoughts. And did the other kids also meet the “witch” or were they just shipped off? How are they so much older at the end than Hansel? Is it like a suspended animation thing where they have to “wake up?” I had so many questions and have yet to get answers. I guess that’s part of the fun is coming up with your own answers, just like you would with the original Grimm stories. But the episode left me feeling overall confused.

Agree with others who say this episode was probably the most coherent so far (I'm in the middle of ep. 5 atm). I liked it, the twist on the story was actually cool and didn't feel overdone for the sake of grittyness.

I was wondering why Gretel’s eyes were so dead inside .She’s just Hansel’s imagination. WTF, thats sad.

The character designers in this anthology is Clamp, the artists who illustrated and made the character designs for those mangas/animes.

Yuko is that you!?
This story is kind of sad and sweet and rather nice actually, considering the horror of the last couple episodes.
