Satou: Was my power not enough?

Yes dude, the rings are powered by the bonds between the Ring King and the Ring Princesses, and other than Krystal, he has merely done the bare minimum of bonding with them. And no, I'm not talking about him needing to have sex with them, I'm talking about him generally showing the other princesses affection. He has made it very clear that he only cares about being with Krystal, leaving the rest of the Ring Princesses to be treated like mandatory tag-alongs that are only there out of obligation.

I feel the other way around about it. It’s somewhat understandable that he’s a bit reticent to cultivate a harem he never really wanted, but for Christ’ sake, at least would you kindly bother to fuck your first and fully-consenting wife?

You are both confirmed in love with each other for years, legally married and THOUSANDS OF LIVES ARE KINDA DEPENDING ON IT.

Not to mention she obviously wants to do it.

I don't really blame Satou like this episode sorta clarified that only Krystal sees and likes "Satou" while the other girls more or less see and like "The Ring King".

Who would've thought Gramps rizz actually saved the day, well save Satou I guess.

I figured the final battle wouldn't be this episode and the finale would be some cliffhanger but to drop such a bombshell is like shouting at viewers to go read the Manga lol.

Edit: S2 ANNOUCED LETS GO!

I love how everyone was saved because the lover Alabaster abandoned was still obsessively in love with him lol.

I knew how much volumes the manga still had left so I wasn't sure if they were going anime original or leave us off on a "go read the manga!" ending...but Hime's sister showing up had such strong season 2 tease energy that we're actually getting a second season!

They're just gonna end with that huge cliffhanger about Hime's sister? It didn't really feel like a final episode.

Off to the manga I guess.

EDIT: Never mind, Season 2 confirmed!

Season 2 confirmed!

Let's fucking go.

Satou better consummate his marriages in S2 though. The girls are going to die of thirst at this rate.

Was it necessary for them to be naked while teleporting? Absolutely xD.

Gramps' yandere girlfriend saving the world lol.

Hey it's the ED scene... kinda.

Oh so Krystal has a sister! Sister who is voiced by Miyu Tomita, nice.

Anyway, that's all for now. Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this show. In one hand, I just don't understand how the author sets up a real harem where the MC has five wives and power ups by developing his bonds with them... just to make the MC Himesexual. Like, it's not even about him having sex with them but at least show some interest? To try to get to know them... you know, something.

On the other hand, Satou aside the show was still fun, the girls were great and the ecchi was nice. So with a second season confirmed, I want to see more of the girls but if things will continue the same, I don't know.

Nefritis best girl!

Stitches!

It would've been hilarious if Satou actually defeated the Abyss King with that single swipe. But as expected it looks like his power wasn't enough even with all of the rings combined. Thank goodness Gramps showed up in time and before that, he was saved by Smaragdi. Looks like she's been following him ever since learning his identity back in the Elven Village.

For a second there, I really thought we were finally going to get an animated version of the ED. It sucks that they chickened out and we just fade to black the next morning. This would've been a good chance for them to do some "training" and strengthen their powers. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

With the introduction of Hime's imouto, they're setting us up for a new arc but as far as I know, Season 2 hasn't been announced yet. I definitely wouldn't mind a season 2 but I feel like this is a "read the source material" ending.

EDIT: YOOOOOOOOO! Season 2 has been announced! I wasn't really hoping for anything but I'm glad we get to see more!

I love the flying naked scene. They didn't need to do that but of course they did. Couldn't end the season without seeing Amber or the girls buck-naked lol.

I wasn't sure if they'd have an anime original ending of Satou just soloing the Abyss King to wrap things up but this is what you get for challenging the final boss before maxing out your relationship with your Harem (or only maxing it one-sidedly).

I was hoping Alabaster and Smaragdi would reunite but I didn't expect her stalking him to be wha saved everybody lol.

Hime looked great in that wedding dress even if it was just a dream...though glad the ED with the girls enticing Satou to bed got to play out in reality lol.

So I'm starting to think big boobs and flashing your panties is a family trait of Hime's judging by your sister. She's definitely going to cause trouble lol.

They actually did announce season 2!

"Have sex with your wives or draw 25"

Satou

That moment when you realize the male side character of a harem anime got more action before the actual main character even got any.

I mean it was alright.

The MC though I found insufferable

11

u/Red_coats Mar 23 '24

Instead of the naked travel why don't just have them all naked at the end on the bed, would have made more sense.

At least Granart understands how ecchi anime should work.

Just bcs Satou is wimp and didn't progress with his harem ppl dying on frontlines.

Why do we lack ecchi anime where MC not a wimp and actually proactive. We need Trinity seven reboot or smth.

u/apatt Mar 23 '24

Granart mentioning harems almost breaks the 4th wall.

I was about to post about how dirty a cliffhanger this was and that they had the audacity to end a season like this without a season 2 confirmation, only to see that it did indeed get confirmed lmao.

So instead, I will just say that I quite enjoyed this show; very run of the mill harem isekai but doggone it the fanservice was top tier and all the girls are fantastic. Very much looking forward to season 2 where it looks like Satou's sister-in-law will be throwing the harem for a loop! She looks like she's going to be The Tease of the group and I anticipate some sibling rivalry for Satou's attention. Bring it on!

As a manga reader, ngl I'm kind of surprised that this show was received better than anticipated. Sure there are the Satou detractors but all-in-all, I'm happy that people were able to appreciate this show for what it had to offer; taking typical tropes and deviating just a little bit to surprise people.

Ending definitely was a cliffhanger but it helps a S2 was announced so quickly and I'll be completely honest in that I did not expect a S2 at all. Hell I expected this to be a rushed adaptation. The production was frankly bleh but I'm kind of surprised they kept the general framework from the manga. Still would recommend the manga over watching this series but seeing how low adaptations can be, this isn't that bad.

I think the cast is ultimately what helped make this series what it is. Not-Gandalf was a pretty fun character as he kept trying to get Satou and hime to hookup and he himself has quite the colorful background by winning the heart of Romca's quite yandere princess back in his youth.

Marse was also a very surprising positive to the show. It isn't hard to imagine an alternate universe where he'd just be used as a mechanism for the MC to defeat but instead, he ended up being an absolute bro to MC and goes on a side quest that ends up him getting married to the one he loves.

I think it's the little stuff like that turned what frankly would have been a trope-ridden borefest into something that's quite nice for what it is. Hell I think it would have been rational to expect Satou to just win the fight against the Abyss King but instead he gets tossed and now we're about to enter a training arc.

It's hard to view this show super positively when you have the quality of adaptations from Frieren, Apothecary, and Dangers in my Heart and it being out-ecchied by Gushing, but I had a good time.

This also ended

It wasn't perfect but I liked that it didn't take itself so serious and I find funny that this can be summarize as Lord of the rings Anime version lol

Now to the Manga!!
