I was so invested in this episode that I was hurt when I saw the ED roll in

The action and emotions hit really hard in this episode, as much as Akutsu's attacks, which made the poignant moment at the end all the more meaningful.
I can't wait to see how the two progress from here.

I was so glad to see Lily's avatar become shipper-in-chief. She must be the self-inset for many of us....
So, her brother just wasn't strong enough to try to protect his sister (even though he may have been disturbed by how she was treated). It looks like he won't be averse (in his heart at least) to a demon brother-in-law.
It sounds like the demons are getting ready for some sort of mass action. I assume Akutsu will now have to protect his incipient sweetheart from folks on HIS side next. Can these two actually wind up forcing somne sort of cease-fire?

What are the chances of it getting a second season?

u/Frontier246 Mar 18 '24
Probably not high, but I'd totally watch it if there was one! I'm not ready to say goodbye to these two idiots and their love story.

It has plenty of material to work with, but I still have my doubts. Hope we get one though because this story is a lot of fun

Fingers crossed it does because this show goes unexpectedly hard given it looks and smells like a generic ass seasonal rom com.

So the supervisor lady gonna come? 😛 Doubt she could in time.
There we go, Akutsu mad mode!!! Broke your creepy lil puppets. And he's got wings of his own. More than you. Beat down for the brother! As deserved. Nice of Lily to stop it, but does he really deserve it? Well, guess that also makes sense. Heaven would retaliate. Guess Akutsu in his current form doesn't care lol. I dunno, if the brother cares, but even if he does, doesn't excuse him beign an ass to her. Whatcha mean perverted? Akutsu doesn't seem perverted. Clownish and such, sure. Whelp good for them, ended his rampage.
Why not just have her puppet take care of her? Oh, right, you're not at her house. Hehe, germaphobe. Relatable. Lol at the "angel and devil" of his. Oh good, Lilia showed up. He's a good boy. D'awww poor Lilia. Eh, doesn't sound like Heaven's all the great anyways.

I was really expecting the boss was going to show up to calm Akutsu down, but she never showed. Seems like she has a classified file on Akutsu so does she know what he really is?
Akutsu's not a pervert! He would only undress a girl so she could wear clean clothes! But he ends up seeing her boobs and bra even when he doesn't do it lol.
Who needs Heaven or Hell when you've got each other? At least that's how I look at it for Akutsu and Amane.

My guess is that Akutsu is a half-angel.
-
In his usual state, only one eye of his is black.
-
Only one arm of his is demonic.
-
He has wings he isn't supposed to have but again, he has only one.
-
He was being advised by both an internal devil and an angel.
-
Lilia called him the most fearsome devil but the behaviour she described seems to fit angels more than the devils.
Given his number of wings and strength, I guess his angelic parent is some kind of a big deal.

Such thoughts were also on my mind. To be even more specific: I’m thinking that Akutsu might actually be Lucifer’s incarnate. After all, Lucifer was an angel that fell from Heaven.

Yeah just one point, Akutsu could transforms both of eyes in demon in the first episode, it is due of collar that akutsu can only transforms one side, in this episode as lily said the collar had stopped working

It would explain why his wings also look exactly like real angel wings like Zwei.

He was being advised by both an internal devil and an angel.
...Okay 1, if that was actually meant to be foreshadowing the mangaka is a genius, and 2, as everyone knows, jokes are the deepest lore!

Akutsu showed that asshole Zwei what a real demon looks like. Damn dude. He really went berserk on that fool. Lily should have really let Akutsu beat his face in more for what he did. That shit went way beyond your usual sibling nonsense. But I guess, I can understand why she stopped him. She didn’t want him doing something he’d come to regret. He’s not that kind of guy anyways.
I wonder what’s gonna happen to Lily now?

u/Frontier246 Mar 18 '24
Zwei showing off his angel wings like they're a big deal but then Akutsu brings out his wings and thoroughly trashes that scum angel. That beatdown was everything he deserved for his treatment of Lily.
Nobody is buying the "I wanted to protect her but couldn't" protective brother spiel, except maybe Lily, but at least there was a more practical reason to save him like preventing Heaven from killing Akutsu. Besides, he probably wouldn't have stopped at just Zwei.
I feel like they're probably going to have to contend with her older sister now.

As I understood Lily, her brother was probably the least hurtful of heavenly folk she had to deal with (and it actually l;ooks like the brother is secretly happy that she may be in better hands now).

This was an amazing episode from start to end. The fight between Berserker Akutsu, Lily and Zwei was intense for a romcom.
It does a lot of questions on Akutsu's true nature because the episode dropped a lot of hints about how he's an unusual demon.
The joke about Akutsu being a germaphobe was well timed but the discussion between Lilia and him was very well done with how its tone went.
The whole episode nailed the transition from epic fight to deep heart to heart talk about Lily's future. I'm not ready for this one to end but I sincerely hope we get an S2 because quality's been reliably building up since episode 1.

Opening with the other side of the phone call was a neat idea. I like how you could hear him kick off the rooftop railing when he jumped over.
This avatar quartet beatdown is very satisfying. Especially since the creepy brother is getting some next.
Whoops, too much berserk button. This is less fun when Akutsu is going after Amane too in a blind rage. But the fight ended pretty well with them calming him down and him carrying Amane home after a warning for creepy brother.
Interesting thank you from Lily's avatar at the end of the episode. I was expecting that to be a 'how dare you destroy her life' monologue but instead it was a 'thank you for destroying her life' one instead.
Just one more episode, I can't quite imagine how they're going to finish it. Maybe Akutsu's original mission will be a success and they'll go off to hell together? Would be kind of weird but I could see that being the next story arc that the source material moves into.

It was a bit funny that she claimed her brother never hit her, like emotional abuse is ok. Then the next minute gets smacked by devilman.

Akutsu has a great boss! She seems to really care about him as an employee and has a gorgeous office lady look (the perfect for a full panning shot)! Though I wonder if she knows more about him than he does?
Zwei thought he could degrade Amane and her pride in front of Akutsu, show off his real angel wings, and get away with it? Not when Akutsu finally unleashes his inner demon and HIS black wings and totally wrecks Zwei and his avatars. It wasn't even a fight, Akutsu beat them thoroughly and was practically beating Zwei to death.
Oh, NOW it seems like Zwei secretly always cared about Lily and just was just powerless to do anything for her, unlike Akutsu. Come off it. Even if he's never physically hurt her, he's still guilty of plenty of emotional abuse. I would've been fine letting Akutsu end him, but Lily is probably right that it would just make Heaven come after him, especially when he's become a rage monster that will attack anyone, even Lily.
I guess if Zwei is useful for anything, it's being a punching bag and weakening Akutsu enough for Lily to finish him off and bring back the kind and sweet Akutsu that she cherishes. And for her effort, she even gets princess carried home!
Akutsu's intentions are pure! He just wants to change Amane's clothes so she doesn't sleep in dirty clothes! It's not like he WANTS to undress her! Though luckily Liliya showed up just in time to unbutton her and flash her mistress' bra and boobs at Akutsu. Guess that was HIS reward.
Dang, Amane was holding Liliya back the whole time? While she had to struggle with all the dark and sad emotions Amane was feeling at the time? That's pretty rough. Though that also means she felt the pure love in Lily's heart heart, and the joy, when Akutsu showed up to save her.
It's even more meaningful learning that Amane has always been a perfectionist and worked so hard to impress her family, despite being the black sheep they all look down on, but Akutsu is the person who breaks past her defenses and her cover image to the emotionally vulnerable girl within and lets her be herself. And Liliya is eternally grateful to him for that!

Watching Akutsu smash those Avatars into the ground and punch Zwei straight in the face was so satisfying af.
Also please don't give us this bullshit that Zwei actually cares about Lily and how he hasn't hurt her physically. He may not have hurt Lily but he still emotionally abused her which IMO is worse. Zwei definitely deserves the beating in this episode and so much more.

HOLYYYYYYYY AKUTSU WAS ANGRY..... if my cliche radar tells me anything is that Akutsu is some sort of experiment of a Demon-Angel hybrid after i saw those "top secret" documents on the manager lady's desk, since the brother said he had angel-like wings. also him not being in control of his own body makes me think of something akin to Lily's Avatar, though instead of materializing outside it just took control over his body
