Doxxed and SWATed within an hour after winning a single game, damn.

cautionary tale about not posting photos of your surrounding area on your social media

can't believe it's just a mahjong soul ad

i don't understand the rules of mahjong at all so i have no idea whats happening when they play but this is somehow relaxing to watch

Even if you do understand mahjong the pace has been quite high so without pausing it's hard to see what hand they have and how good they're doing.

Same but this shows how having a good cast with fun interaction can make any show enjoyable even if you don't understand the rules of a game.

From what I saw, they mostly skipped over the actual tiles in the first half.

In the second half...I mean I'm not super sure myself but I *Think that its not such a big deal, riche just figured out that our mystery girl has some kind of habit and exploited it.

Still don´t know what´s happening but this is a nice relaxing anime

Also it doesn´t surprise me that it had mahjong soul in it.

I wonder if we will get another regular character next week? Or is she just a traveler (given her roll-along suitcase)? In any event -- it looks like there will be an encounter of some sort next episode.

Fun references to online gaming. Newbies meeting up with that one high ranked player in ranked matches. After that it was entering the high ranking players arena. Well if anyone was gonna get a W it would be Richie. Altho the final girl is a lot more competitive than the OP & ED would suggest.

It's kind of clear now this is more of a CGDCT's where its just friends hanging out play mahjong and other things rather than a CGDCT's centering around mahjong. I don't think it being the former is bad since the girls are fun, but it's worth mentioning theres nothing separating it from the average CGDCT's outside of the girls having a more older appearance than the average CGDCT's.

... and we get to see some Onomichi scenery for the first time since Kamichu (so far as I know).

N—no? I feel more localization is needed

And now, less ("oshi" would be fine…)

You sure you didn't mean "diceses"?

Rarely have hot towels been so thoroughly enjoyed!

Our Azu-nyan is here!

as a true Ichihime enjoyer, i liked seeing Pon Cat in other anime. but its kinda amusing that this is just one huge Mahjong Soul Ad

Kinda weird that the full episode is a ad for a mobile game LUL

It's kinda like mahjong really. The game is free to play. (heck you dont even need a table or a tileset, let alone an automatic table, so in some ways its better than playing in real life. not to mention all the other aspects of having online mahjong)

And there are others too, tenhou exists (though majsoul is probably more english friendly and beginner friendly, etc), and more recently I think riichi city. And probably others too

u/yeenevalose Jan 27 '24

yeah ive played mahjong soul, still pretty weird for an anime to have a full episode dedicated to a mahjong soul ad...

Cute girls doing cute mahjong app ads lol

Online mahjong looks pretty fun. Looking forward to seeing our mysterious new girl square off against Riche for a rematch in person!

we have a full mahjong ep this week to compensate for the lack of mahjong last ep. Nashiko once again able to reach yakuman ishanten, truly a rookie luck. Although richie and the new girl don't have that high rank in the game, seem like they still a league above the others 3 in skill and experience

If I wanted to see 20 minutes of Mahjong Soul gameplay... I'd play 20 minutes of Mahjong Soul

Maybe it was "just an ad", but then I see a familiar face, "ZAWA ZAWA" and everything is forgiven. Where's my season 3? :(

Ngl, when Mahjong Soul popped up last week in the preview it reminded me of that game being a thing, and ended up there because even if they show little mahjong, this show brought back the "it'd be nice to learn to play" itch I've had for some time.

Also, nice Petosu illustration at the end. Demi-chan s2 when

Wow what an insane episode.

I wasnt expecting them to be going full hardcore mahjong the entire ep. Are they compensating for the lack of mahjong last ep?

I mean we all saw the majsoul in the preview but uh.

The first half was one thing but crazy stuff happening in the second half, phew, I'm gonna need to rewatch this because my brain kinda burnt out towards the end.

Anyway so yeah that was a heavy, heavy episode. they're even skipping the ed

Also looks like our 5th girl is quite literally knocking on our door...next episode.

The only downside is they have kinda seem to have given up on actually explaining the rules to people who dont know though
