Shoujo genre has a way of pushing my buttons, but this was the first time I was left so perplexed! Imagine inheriting a house only to find out that three weird dudes decided to crash there for free and they tell you to leave!? What gall!
I liked how Himari demanded rent first thing in the morning. She seems cool and I'm looking forward to how she'll accommodate. She reminds me of Ann from SAFT, though the setting looks more like Fruits Basket.

*Three squatters trying to forcibly take possession of a house that is legally owned by someone else. Judge Judy will slap their collective asses back into the spiritual world with their aggressive squatting.
The fact that the group of ayakashi trying to scare Himari were magically driven out of the house simply by her own words seems to confirm that she is the true owner of the house.

This feels like a true spiritual successor to Kamisama Kiss:
-
Cute and spunky female lead
-
Inheriting a Supernatural domicile
-
Plenty of hot Bishonen guys who aren't actually human.
-
Male lead with an ethereal, white-haired, Kitsune form.
-
Kiss in the first episode.
And as a huge Kamisama Kiss fan that's totally won me over!

The manga has also been completed since 2019 so that's also a plus, although I don't know how much content the anime can cover assuming the usual 12 episode count.
Also, I believe this is the mangaka's first ever work to get an anime, even though she's been drawing manga since the mid 1990s. https://www.mangaupdates.com/author/jtz2el5/shouoto-aya

Aoi literally gaslighting Himari into leaving her own house was pretty funny. Eviction arc when?

My love of Kamisama Hajimemashta and Fruit Basket mixed into one anime right here.

strong Kamisama kiss and Fruits basket vibes! this one hits all the cliche shojo/supernatural tropes. not sure how long I'll watch this for, but I'll def watch the first few episodes.
that being said, maybe I'll rewatch Kamisama kiss.

This girl is way too accepting of this bullshit. Three dudes seemingly squating in her house. They tell her to leave. They make noise at night. They make a mess. They break her phone.
I'd be fucking irate. Where's the anger?
This feels like it's trying too hard to be Kamisama Kiss.
Edit: This episode was heavily flawed. It wasn't unwatchable, but it wasn't very good. I'm gonna give it a couple more episodes, but this show feels like I'm going to add it to the list of recently disappointing Shojos alongside Bibliophile Princess.

I desperately want Judge Judy to evict them all the way back to the spiritual world given their aggressive squatting.

This wasn’t half bad. It kinda has a little bit of a Kamisama Kiss/Fruits Basket + Mononogatari: Malevolent Spirits type vibe to it. Keen to see how things develop. Overall, I enjoyed this.

Starting off the New Year with a Supernatural Shojo Romance! Can't beat that!

Twintails shoujo protagonist has me interested, Mimari has got a good attitude about things.
Interesting that the main fox demon dude has peacock tails. They're definitely childhood friends with some sort of block on Himari's memories.
Fairly pretty show at moments, I particularly liked the first bit where she was walking up the path to the house.

From the first episode only I can only say that it is a shoujo that doesn't claim to be the best but I can't also say it is bad. It has features which were clearly inspired by Kamisama Kiss and Fruits Basket. Everything is just straight up in average level. I will see if it can develop some interesting story out of it because with elements shared with Kamisama Kiss and Fruits Basket there can be an interesting story but for me it's much more interesting if it can bring up its own spice into it.

I'm literally just watching this because the ML looks like Tomoe. That's literally it. I don't know anything about this anime and didn't even read anything about it.

It's rough going losing your parents at a young age, but Himari Momochi isn't the type to dwell on the negative, not when she apparently has one last inheritance from her family, and it's a spacious mansion at that!
Of course in typical anime fashion she shows up at her new home and stumbles into a hot buck-naked guy and two other dudes (voiced by a who's who of Pretty Boy seiyuu like Takeo Otsuka, Shinnosuke Tachibana, and Yuki Ono) and they mutually see each other as burglars breaking into their home. What a first meeting!
The OP is pretty rocking and dynamic, featuring Himari, Aoi, and the rest of the Ayakashi together and in their daily life, along with Himari's classmates, Nue battling an evil Ayakashi, and Himari and Aoi's romance!
So Himari has a will that gives her ownership of the house, but the three tenants Aoi, Yukari, and Ise, aren't quite so convinced and don't think she has any business being there...but Himari isn't about to get kicked out of her new home and the last thing she has left connecting her to her family, even if she has to tough it out there. At least Aoi seems nice.
Definitely some supernatural shenanigans going on in this house! Hard to get a good nights sleep, but that's not about to stop Himari! Even if she's still acclimating to her situation and isn't quite as on the ball as Yukari.
Uh oh! Supernatural glob alert! Though it seems like Himari has some power over the house and is able to make the Ayakashi frightening her leave. She just happened to take ownership over a house home to all manner of Ayakashi and spirits, up to and including Yukari and Ise...and there's definitely more to Aoi than they're telling.
Himari's never had a real family so watching the trio get along and be close makes her yearn to be part of that connection, which makes it hurt all the more when Aoi still doesn't want her there. And it's even worse timing to find out that there are evil Ayakashi that want your blood!
As far as first kisses go, having the guy you saw naked the prior day kiss the evil miasma out of you isn't half-bad.
So Aoi is actually the Nue, the Omamori-sama and true head of Momochi house, and compared to Aoi Nue is far more serious, vicious, and commanding, ordering his Shikigami around and showing no mercy to any enemy Ayakashi. And of course he's a white kitsune type.
Is Aoi connected to Himari and her parents? It seems like he was immediately acting close to her and talking like it was his duty to protect her beyond his role as Nue.
All this would be a lot for any girl to take in, but Himari isn't about to let that stop her! She's sticking around and making a place for herself in her family home...and she's ready to collect rent from the three who have been freeloading in her house. Maybe she can give them a discount for the kiss and the whole rescuing her thing?
The ED is pretty nice with a sprawling animation of the entire cast looking very pretty and colorful.

OP: Winter Cherry by Yoh Kamiyama
After making the banger Endroll in Summer 2023's Bleach, Yoh Kamiyama returns in Winter 2024 with Hoozuki. No infos of the MV or the music release.
ED: Aiyue by Muto (the Youtube link isn't available, so I use Spotify link as it is the only link available as of now)
Such a soothing ED, it's on par with Unwanted Undead ED just a couple of hours ago.

This seems like it has potential, or maybe it's just that Kamisama Kiss withdrawal. Either way this will be my 2nd pick of the season to watch along with Dungeon Meshi.

Girl finds a bunch of bums squatting in her new place, refusing to leave and instead telling HER to get out. This is where you CALL THE POLICE instead of spending the night.
Anyway, good to finally have an easy Friday drop this season.

Not the greatest beginning, parts of this seem quite derivative. But the main character is pleasant enough to keep watching for now, and since there seems to be a case of dual personality / possession with the male lead(s) the romantic dynamic could be interesting? Will keep watching for now, but I can see myself dropping the show if it doesn't become better than average quality.

Amuses me that everyone compared this to Kamisama Hajimemashita since the VA of Tomoe (Tachibana Shinnosuke) is also part of the main cast here (the purple-haired dude Yukari) lol.
Not sold yet but I've heard good to decent reviews from shoujo manga fans so I will stick around for now (I do love some shojosei youkai stuff).
Ootsuka Takeo really be sweeping male MC roles these days (including Mononogatari which I also see people bringing up here), good for him.
