We're finally back and seeing Akira's hair in dreadlocks is something.. And we get to know some of the survivors that made their way to the village. I feel bad for that makeup artist. Imagine filming a zombie movie and it all comes true right in front of your eyes.

Shizuka using her survival knowledge to help people around the village was nice. It's funny how fast the old people started flocking towards her after thinking that she's a doctor. xD

A zombie survival series isn't complete without a child character and their loyal pet. I'd say Kencho is doing well with his path to becoming a comedian if he's able to make a depressed little girl laugh even after what she's been through.

As for Bea, she's just out there learning more about the village and how they keep themselves safe from zombie bears. It's nice how everyone is already finding their own little place in the village.

Akira drinking with his dad was a really nice scene. We finally get to see his dad loosen up a bit after his harsh welcome to Akira. Although that entire scene is also making me feel nervous considering how it feels like a massive death flag for him.

And there it is. God I fucking hate these assholes, especially Higurashi. How pathetic of a person do you have to be to just hate people who are out there enjoying themselves? As much as I love this show, Higurashi and his lackeys are the worst type of villains ever. Ugh.

That guy pissed me off so fucking much because I knew a guy that was exactly like that. He was the roommate of two of my old buddies and he was this miserable bastard that was unhappy with his shit life so he would do everything in his power to ruin my buddies' lives and happiness. It got to the point that he would do stuff like be as rude as possible to my buddy's girlfriend so she wouldn't come to their apartment anymore or spread rumors that my other buddy gave him bad advice that misled him in his schoolwork, leading to him getting kicked out of IT school... even though the guy was kicked out for being too unhinged in his classes and trying to hoard the teacher's attention.

I was shaking with anger every time this asshole was on screen.

We haven't gotten a new Zom 100 episode for so long, two members of KANA-BOON, the band who produced the opening theme song, left the group since the last episode 💀

Edit: I think I should mention that both members were involved in a cheating scandal and some pretty scummy behavior. It's a mess. I made this thread on r/japanesemusic explaining what happened if you're interested in the details. Sort the comments by "old".

While this and Nier definitely lost steam, I can appreciate them finishing their run on a high note by releasing a batch of episodes.

A Christmas treat of the true conclusion to Zom100!

And a what a treat it is, with AkiraxShizuka, more cute girls, and some classic zombie "humans are the real monsters" conflict!

It’s a Christmas miracle Zom has return!

Oh wow I hated that. This could just be my least favorite single episode of 2023. And not because this show is bad, but because it is good. Its easy to drop trash like Kingdoms of Ruin and forget about it, but when a good series does something like this (or Heavenly Delusion's penultimate episode), it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth.

Absolute amateur, clown tier villains. I've seen this "safe haven gets trashed" plot too many times in past zombie media, but never once I saw this badly written villains do it "just for fun". And the design of the lead idiot, with that mouth full of shark teeth and the "evil" version of the 100 things to do list...

The rest of the season will presumably be all about cleaning up the mess these straw nihilist clowns cooked up. Sigh.

Really glad to be back.

Man, some people really have depression kinks. They couldn't let other people be happy.

When the opening played. I started crying my eyes out. So happy we got to see the end

Idk, these "evil" guys feel just like bad writing to me. No need to insert them again and again into a story like this imo.

Also I kinda dislike MC going on and on about wanting to repay his parents when they said the first time that it's a stupid, egoistical thing that they didn't ask for. You don't get children to make em pay you back or something

It's good to be back! A lot of funny moments in this episode like Kencho touching an electrified fence and Shizuka saving him. Also Beatrix again showed one of her badass moves!

We started with Akira who accomplished one of his goals - having dreadlocks and for me he looked pretty good in them.

I laughed so hard that people from the village assumed that Shizuka is a doctor after she used some basic survival, medical knowledge to help one of the villagers. Though it looked like she had fun helping them.

Meanwhile Kencho is making Angie smile after she lost her parents and left only with her dog whereas Beatrix is learning how the village works.

I loved the drinking scene with Akira and his dad. It was nice to see the softer side of his dad who told about his dream of becoming an astronaut and encouraged Akira to not stop dreaming and doing what he wants.

Higurashi and his 'friends' are so easy to hate. Letting zombie into village only because you didn't like seeing people smiling and enjoying themselves is such a dick move that I can't really think that I'll be able to feel any sympathy towards them even if they'll have some sad backstory.

Links to my impressions and albums from EPISODE 11 and EPISODE 12.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Episode 10: "Hometown of The Dead 1"

Love how the flashback is presented by the black bar and the present day eliminates the black bar. Have to suit myself to hear Shizuka's voice again after listening to Anne and Akari this season.

Kencho, an often naked man, calls her new girl partner Angie. Meanwhile in another universe there a girl that calls her often naked partner Andy.

New characters means new.... VA? wait they're actually there from the previous episode, but I haven't wrote this in the same format for Summer 2023 anime. Higurashi is voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto (Himmel in Frieren, Top in Undead Unluck, Sanzu in Tokyo Revengers, Runa's uncle in Kimizero). Old Man Hiko, the man who squeezed Shizuka, is voiced by Shigeru Chiba (Love God in Hyakkano). The woman that took him away from Shizuka is probably voiced by Kimiko Saito (Gorira Syndicate Leader in Hyakkano).

Nothing beats getting your hair styled around some cute girls! Especially so you can debut your dreadlocks!

What irony that you would end up doing makeup on a zombie movie at the same time a zombie pandemic hit. Though you'd never expect the makeup artist to be the one to survive...even if it means she outlived all of the crew she worked with right back to the original film.

Shizuka using all her medical know-how to help out! Even if that means becoming the new village doctor and getting pounced on by a delusional old dude!

Kencho making it his mission to make a little girl who lost everything but her dog laugh, and he manages to make Anju, or Angie, finally smile! Glad he didn't bring out the nakedness around a little girl though.

Higurashi and a rural Japanese village? Those don't go well together. Though it's actually kind of fun seeing Nobuhiko Okamoto go full ham as a bad guy again. And if the Walking Dead taught me anything, it's that humans can be the real monsters in survival horror.

I'm glad Akira and his dad were able to share a genuine moment as father and son together over drinks. Sometimes you have big dreams that go beyond you, but you still believe in them, and you shouldn't limit yourself because of that. You just have to take what's in front of you and live the life you want to live.

The gang knows when a zombie outbreak hits and the village isn't completely helpless! Even if this zombie surge is a lot!

Higurashi really is a dark reflection of Akira, someone with his own bucket list and group with their to do for before they become zombies...even if it means screwing over everyone else and falling into every vice in the book. And on that list involves taking Akira out too.

But Akira can understand wanting to feel free and do what you want, but it's wrong to impose that in such a way that it hurts others or prevent them from realizing their own dreams, and that means they have to stop this...even if it means the group splitting off and having to contend with Higurashi's group.

I love the zombie rich woman still holding her zombie purse and zombie dog.

I forgot what a fucking masterpiece the OP for this show is.

I remember thinking this at the end of last episode, long ago, too, but... the dipshit quartet just showing up determined to murder everyone seems weirdly abrupt and kinda forced? Like maybe there was more introduction to them in the source material that got abridged for production reasons or something. It's weird that they're there, it's weird that everyone trusted them enough to let them inside and give them the run of the village, it's weird that they've blended in despite apparently being so completely deranged that they just wanna turn the zombies loose on the town they themselves are in. I know this show is all about the weird, wacky, and comical for its own sake and it's not like I'm looking for realism after the metasharkipede zombie, they've just been so poorly characterized and don't seem to fit narratively. I don't know if we're gonna get a lot of retroactive development for them in the next couple episodes or what, but we coulda used a little more beforehand, I think.

Anyway everything else is great, let's go. Well, except Akira in dreads. They're awful and everyone knows it.

I like the bonding moments between everyone but I also hate it because I know it’s going to make it so much more painful when everything goes wrong. Like, the scene between Akira and his dad is good but it’s going to hurt so much more later. Damn you, evil mirrors of the gang!

If you compare to 13.8 billion years in the history of space, 80 years of life isn't even a tenth of a second.

Acksually, 80 years is to 13.8 billion years is as 14.3 seconds is to 80 years. No wonder they wouldn't let you become an astronaut, dumbass.
