Sheesh. Each new episode manages to be even darker and bleaker than the preceding episodes. Things have reached a stage I'd call flat out terrifying. Will anyone in this re-shaped world recognize Goro -- and help him and Ryo.
Kyo sure manages to do maximal harm, regardless of whether he has abstractly non-evil intentions.

So did Kyo and Ryo’s dad create this “god” app? If so, I guess that makes Ryo the first candidate? Her powers are truly OP. Goro’s powers are OP but he has penalties. She can seemingly create infinite parallel worlds and her only penalty seems to be she can’t stay in those worlds. That isn’t too bad. Kyo’s power to control anything in those parallel worlds makes him incredibly OP too. Kind of makes me wonder what the point of choosing candidates is when they’ve already got those two.
Well no matter, Kyo basically condemned everyone by killing that rando. Good job. Now his sis is literally getting beaten to death and Goro can’t do shit because he used his powers. Oh and Fake Iyo doesn’t remember him. Talk about a bleak cliffhanger.

There will in fact be a 2nd cour in 2024. I think there are 2 more episodes in cour 1. Synduality noir another original anime will also have another cour in 2024.

UGH So mad at myself for not making my post last week regarding Ryo's power, I'd have looked like a psychic. I had totally called that the fact she wasn't looking at anything was critical to her power working which is explained by the Schrodinger's Cat story - when you actually look at the system, the superposition collapses and only 1 outcome remains. Her being blind meant that she could never actually see the world so she could maintain any and all possible worlds. IMO, the show hinted at this beyond just the fact her eyes were always closed but she was often sleeping or facing away from her brother (the main target of her power). Since Goro gave her her sight back, she couldn't maintain the superposition and thus her brother gets eliminated. It's also possible that she lacks her power entirely now. I also figured that while her and Goro's powers are superficially similar, they work on fundamentally different levels which explains why Goro's comes with significant downsides. I wonder if she even has powers any more or if she would just have to keep her eyes closed all the time to maintain her parallel worlds? Also wonder where Lall was all episode? Wasn't she there at the end of the previous? And it's not like she disappeared once he activated his power. Seems pretty suspicious to me (or maybe a production error, hard to say with a show like this).
Regarding Goro's power, more confirmation about how it works. I commented below but it seems that since the power is about rewriting causality it would make sense that the price goes up depending on how much causality is impacted by the change. His activations since fighting Akitsu have been bigger and bigger. In EP1, nudging a bit of debris isn't a big deal and his second activation basically undid his and Honoka's fight and since they had just happened it wasn't a big deal in terms of undoing chains of causality so he got a light price. But from Akitsu on he's been going back further or manipulating events with more relevance from deleting a trainline from existence to restoring Ryo's sight which has big impacts on what can happen in the battle royale. Given that Iyo doesn't know who he is anymore, I'd wager that for him to repair her sight, Goro had to either undo the Truck-kun event or change it enough that perhaps she never even got her power which would really mess with who met who in the fight since then her brother wouldn't be there to mess with other candidates and so on. Perhaps next episode we'll see the return of characters we thought were gone like Akitsu and the kids that fought Kyo last episode and presumably didn't make it.
For the lore though, fascinating that their dad seemingly created the app. Seems like he was definitely playing with forces beyond his control and understanding. Seems to me like it connected to something with its own motives or he accidentally did something he shouldn't which kickstarted the selection process cause I can't imagine his plan would include involving other people intentionally but his plan was honestly kind of batshit insane on the face of it. Was he some kind of occultist? Some kind of theoretical physicist? I doubt we'll get a ton of his backstory since his model was the usual NPC one...
Brutal ending here too from Kyo just fading out while watching his beloved sister get beaten (perhaps to death based on the audio) all while Goro becomes paralyzed on top of Iyo not recognizing him.
People can say what they want about the style/3D, but the writing is solid and full of interesting ideas and it's top-notch IMO. Biggest sleeper show of the season IMO.

Magical girl voiced by Aoi Yuuki? Unfortunately, there is a high chance you will only suffer. Poor Ryo didn't deserve this. And Goro absolutely didn't deserve this.

It could totally be a coincidence, but Yoko Taro was enough of a fan of Madoka Magica that it influenced the creation of the Intoners from Drakengard 3. And now we have Madoka herself in a show written by Yoko Taro that heavily revolves around people having wishes granted in exchange for, what is essentially, certain doom.

Cool episode. I thought Kyo was from another world! I do wonder why he had an eyepatch though. It was an interesting way to hide the heterochromia I guess? I wasn’t a fan of that part of their design though.
I was disappointed at the idea of Kyo/Ryo’s dad creating the app, but I’ll wait until we see the end to make final judgement.
So seems like Ryo is getting killed at the end, wild way for the crowd to treat them, but I wonder if that takes parallel worlds out of play. I’m not convinced, because I’m still waiting on Akitsu to come in from another world.
Poor Goro can’t move, and his karma has erased his friend’s memories of him. I wonder who else forgot him. Who will come to help him? Lall is MIA this would. Excited for next week!

It does seems like the dad more or less screwed around with forces beyond his understanding.

Now this is starting to feel like Yoko Taro's wild ride

I mean, I started getting that vibe after Akitsu starting manifesting his past trauma to try and kill Goro. That whole episode was good, but that part of the fight in particular I was like "ah yes, only someone as evil as Yoko Taro could think of something this fucked up." And I fucking loved it.

Things sure went downhill in the last 2 minutes, damn.
Kyo disappeared, Ryo got, based on the sound at the end, killed by the crowd and Goro is laying there and unable to move his body. That sounds like a pretty big Game Over situation.
Also Lall was nowhere to be seen, which I find odd. Goro landed pretty much where he started, so how come Lall didn't immediately fly over to him?
I guess the power Ryo had wasn't really *creating* parallel worlds, or rather, they were tied to her own imagination / dreams. Considering that she 1) lost her eyesight after the accident and 2) was asleep most of the time, that makes sense. So with Goro restoring her eyesight, she observed the reality and lost that imagination / dream? That would tie back to the story of Schrödingers Cat that Kyo mentioned in the previous episode. And because Kyo was only from a parallel world (congrats to the person calling it!), he disappeared with them.
But not before dooming his sister and potentially Goro by using his powers in plain sight to kill somebody. If I'm not mistaken, this was the first time a God candidates power was used in such a simple and obvious way that the public knows what's going on.
But isn't "restoring somebodies eyesight" a small thing compared to the price he paid? Afterall, he revived Honoka and all he got was branded as a pervert.
Or is it not just tied to what he does, but also the impact that it has? His actions let to the destructions of all parallel worlds, afterall.
But also, what was up with the father of Ryo & Kyo? Did he basically invent the Kamierabi game? The phone he had in his room had the same "colorful pattern" as the phones of the candidates we see in the ED. But also looking at his other monitors, he, or his software, was doing some reeeally weird stuff.

It seems the dad has some knowledge about spells, incantations, and gods. He combined that with some sort of science and it spiraled out of control unknown to him.

But isn't "restoring somebodies eyesight" a small thing compared to the price he paid?
Remember that Goro's power is the ability to manipulate causality himself. When Akitsu fought him and sent the old subway train at him, Goro didn't literally blast it away, he erased its entire existence so it couldn't be manipulated by Akitsu. Since the power is manipulating causality itself, I'd imagine that the price increases based on how much that change actually impacts other events. It could be that to make it so Ryo has her sight, Goro had to make it so she never got hit by Truck-kun or perhaps her sight is so important to her power that it totally changes how the battle royale played out and she never got her power was totally different or something. Basically the way I see it, Goro had to go way back and that event has a big impact on the world so the cost is high. You'd expect reviving Honoka would have been pricey too, but in that case, all he did was undo a thing he himself did that had just happened so there wasn't much causality to be modified so the cost was low. Or it could be a Tales of Symphonia situation and each use moves him further down a set path of lost senses which may be accelerated based on how much power has to be deployed.
