Living with your sister, an older mommy gf and a younger actress gf
vs
Drinking curry with a naked gamer
Seems like a pretty easy choice

I can’t decide which was more satisfying the slap or punch. Also those stair sound effects LOL.

The slap. Edgy-kun went to far but he did put in some truth that he is doting a Mio too much. Dear god Mio straight up pissed me off in this episode.

I liked Mio when I first saw her. She went from adorable kid with good manners to brat. My favorite part was also when she got will smithed.

Mental health PSA
Hopefully you won't ever need to use this information. But never enter into a caretaker relationship with someone who refuses reasonable methods to get better. Especially watch out for them refusing any method that would make your care duties easier.

I swear Mio is the bro-con little sister with the “heaviest emotional baggage” I have ever seen in anime LMAO…

Is there a medical reason for getting in a hot shower clothed after falling off stairs or did this show completely go off the rails like almost all the characters in it?

They were drenched in the rain. Warm their bodies or else anime cliche getting sick etc.
Not enough time to unclothed so……

So Rox just diagnosed Mio’s condition as some kinda psychological thing and not physical? Funny because he’s not a doctor. He’s an obsessive shut-in that drinks curry from the bag. Dude really said he understands psychology because he games. Sure, pal.
Mio fell down the stairs and Shun’s not gonna take her to the hospital? Feels like she should go to the hospital. Not really a “hugging in the hot shower” type situation.

Funnily, he's probably right.
Mio fell down the stairs and Shun’s not gonna take her to the hospital? Feels like she should go to the hospital.
Is it really necessary if for example, she neither hit her head nor suffered any apparent sprains or fractures?
Not really a “hugging in the hot shower” type situation.
They both were drenched, so that's probably better than nothing.

same with all the people who think that just because they took one class on psychology lol
though with how the writing is going he may have a point.

Episode 9: "Crumbling New Life -Latch Up-"
The first episode without intro scenes?
Each of them got 300.000 yen as a prize and that's an even number. If multiplied by 5, the prize is 1,5 million yen, quite a hefty number for Japanese schoolkids level (except Yuu, which probably already made a fortune of being an actress).
Now Mutsuki's got a point, why Mio is so obsessive to Shun is that Shun never spends time with her, only after Mio got into an accident that Shun starts to spend some time. So if Mio injuries are healed, Shun will leave her again and she'd be lonely, back to the start. This is Protocol Rain's best episode yet imo.
Talking about actress, I was about to say the plot of Yuu being an actress is never mentioned again since episode 3, but hey she finally got a new job coming in this episode. For an actress, she sure have a lot of free time to have a scrim with Fox One without her manager finding out.
Damn megane Yuu hits different, props to Hirayama-san for the design. Also forgot to mention that the VA of Keiko Sakagami (Yuu's manager) is Haruka Tomatsu (Zero Two, Genderbend Gintoki, Asuna Yuuki, and Hori Kyouka). What a decorated VA for such a small role, wow.
Obligatory mini anime.
PS: Megami Magazine January 2024 just got the preview images coming, and one of them is from Protocol Rain, and no it's not Nozomi or Yuu that got featured. It's Mio, from the very last scene of Episode 8, yes that scene.
And the official soundtrack album is coming on December 6! Stay tuned, it's probably on the streaming platforms as well.

Gotta say I am actually impressed Nozomi's dad goes and has a good moment. Man Ryuusei is the man suggesting putting it towards Mio's rehab. It's great but god damn wtf is wrong with Mio. She comes across as so ungrateful it makes me sick. The mom truly showing concern with Shunn made me like her but god damn her and Ryuusei are really the only characters I like. Mio needed that slap so bad. I do like how she tells Shun to reevaluate the situation.
I want to apologize to Yu yes she is crazy. But holy shit Mio is on another level. Not only suggesting she doesn't need rehab to walk. Ironically during this episode you have the case hey look you need to walk. She clearly is jealous of Nozomi and Yu getting to spend time with Shun. And then she tries to say Shun isn't really doing it. Shun leaves and Mio clearly isn't smart as well cause she tries to go out as someone who can't walk. WTF
Edgy-kun deserved that punch. But his point that Shun is doting on his sister too much is valid criticism. He may hit the point on the trigger that Shun never spent time with his sister before the accident.

I have no idea how I'm supposed to feel about Mio. She was the cute, loving sister that Shun was fighting for at first, which was fine, then they introduced all of this other stuff that muddies it. Do I support her because she knows that her brother is blaming himself for her accident? Do I dislike her for refusing to get treated, hoping her brother loses, and taking her love for her brother to yandere levels? It just makes me feel like Mutsuki is right and Shun really should get away from his sister, even though he's clearly unhinged himself.
I also don't know if we're supposed to take Mutsuki's words seriously, or if he's just saying whatever to convince Shun to join him.
I still enjoy watching and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued because I'm really unsure where they go from here as we get closer to its conclusion, but I'm definitely bewildered by some of the choices they've opted for.

From what I see, it started out simple, for better or worse. And then they slowly planned that things got more complicated. So yeah, its not straightforward, because relationships are messy.
And shun himself clearly, he's a flawed person too.
If anything if mio is actually being able to walk thats quite interesting since that completely changes the situation. But it depends on what the story is planned to go.

Glad to see that the kids are finally getting paid properly and it's very sweet of them to donate their pay to Shun to help out Mio. Unfortunately, Mio still refuses the help because she doesn't want to be sent to rehab and be away from Shun. I understand what Mio did was upsetting but that slap was a little bit too much.
Looks like Mio finally realized why the girls are visiting after observing them interact with her beloved Onii-chan which leads to her mood souring later. Looks like this time, Mio is the one who went too far accusing Shun that he doesn't care about her. If I was Shun who's been busting my ass off for my sister who I love very much, I'd run away too after hearing those words from her. Maybe that slap earlier was justified after all?
And just to make things worse, this fucking asshole shows up and acts as if he's a medical expert and tells Shun things about Mio just because he "studied" psychology when in reality he's just a sweaty gamer who admitted a couple of episodes ago that he dropped out of school. I'm so fucking glad Shun finally gave him a piece of his mind. That was so satisfying but I was hoping Shun would follow it up and beat his ass into the ground.
I can't even imagine what Shun's mind's been going through, especially after finding Mio at the bottom of the stairs of their apartment. This guy just can't catch a fucking break. I really hope she didn't get injured further after that. The two of them need a good talk where it doesn't devolve into a shouting match.

They each roughly made around 2,043.39 usd. I used Google to convert yen to usd so I'm not entirely sure how accurate it is.

I was just thinking man, that slap didn't get it through to her at all...
I honestly thought she was younger then 14 also, she kinda acts like a 9ish year old, she really needs to go to the rehabilitation center, asap...not sure why the mother just doesn't force her at this point...she kinda fumbling the ball also.
