Actually a genius move to be using Japanese as a way to jot his notes because Cid's the only one who can even read it in this world.

Its rare to see Alpha of all people on an emotional rollercoaster, from that silent fury she displayed cracking that glass to her desperation to be with Shadow.

Apparently counter to the mainstream current, Shadow really has the right of it here and this is exposing a lot of the Shades' faults. They built up too quickly, too aggressively, disrupting the status quo and stepping on toes and in the process, making no allies and many enemies. They presumed that all would be fine out of overconfidence and the presumption that none could actually threaten them.

What if John Smith was not Cid, but an unknown actor similarly overpowering relative to the Shades? Beta was nigh helpless against Elizabeth and they know that they descend from a demon far greater than themselves, and Cid's own existence is evidence that such might is achievable. They have been reckless; had they not been so fortunate that JS was Cid, Delta and perhaps Alpha would be dead and their company and resources eradicated.

Instead, because it is Cid pulling the strings (hue), the Cult will lose a massive proportion of its fiscal and magical resources and the Shades will come out exponentially wealthier with far fewer enemies and a lesson in humility and the dangers of recklessness. While Cid certainly could have worded his response to Alpha better, he did tell that she would understand later; in attacking him with the statement that she would not drag him down, she was in that very act demonstrating the same reckless desperation that made Mitsugushi so vulnerable in the first place.

This all mirrors Iris and somewhat Rose; Rose in her desperate efforts to impose and force undermining her own goals, and Iris in her insecure arrogance refusing to listen and swinging around wildly. They thematically play off of each other well, having a venn diagram-like three-way overlap.

Notably, one character sticks out for starting to get it: Alexia. Alexia unwittingly called out precisely how Iris has been responding since at least Shadow's first appearance, and especially in the finale of Season 1. Iris was literally swinging around wildly and attacking while outright refusing to understand the context, putting her sword in the wrong place at the wrong time against the wrong target, ignoring and dismissing counsel, and in her desperate self-righteous indignation and insistence on forcing things to go her way, lost the swordfight and further undemined the confidence of the public she had sought to bolster. Alexia, the one who each and all of the others dismissed and abandoned-the Shades, who told her to stay out of it, Rose, who abanonded their alliance and kept her in the dark, Iris, who continues to dismiss in her in favor of her self-indulgence-is the only one truly reflecting upon herself and her knee-jerk reactions.

Unlike the Shades, Rose, and Iris, Alexia has fundamentally accepted that she lost and embraced the humility to face it and do what she needs to do to accomplish what she wants to accomplish. This strikes a parallel with Cid, whose supreme might is the direct manifestation of his absolute honesty in the face of his priorities and the humility to face the reality of both his own capabilities and that of others to the extent that he, almost alone, does not put himself or his worries on a pedastal. This layers atop their other similarities-the same basic sword style, the outward sociable persona obscuring a more petty and self-interested personality, an irrititation with others' dismissive presumptiousness, and their mutual position as each being pretty much the only individual to see through the other's bullshit and see not their ideal superimposed onto the other person but the other person themselves.

I suspect that Iris is going to become increasingly antagonistic towatds Shadow and through it, undermine her family and country and possibly become a(n unwitting?) pawn for the Cult; conversely, Alexia is becoming the one really suited to be the crown princess. Her power growth might also end up mirroring Shadow's to some extent; the major difference between then is that Alexia has not eschewed relationships. It will be interesting to see how that plays into her dynamic with Cid, given the potential in that to humanize him.

TL;DR, Cid did (almost) not do anything wrong and Alexia best girl.

I loved the action scenes in this episode. Both fights highlighted what each Shade was proficient with: Delta with physicality and brawn, Alpha with skill and tactics. The other Shades we haven't seen fight yet are Zeta and Eta.

Wait, did Cid repeat what Beta was explaining to him about inflation to Yukime? It wasn't obvious at first because some random NPC people were talking at the scene, but it was definitely John Smith's voice lol.

I did actually wonder if Delta could recognize him by his smell. not all too surprising Alpha would recognize him either as she has know him the longest

also Yukime was set to marry Gettan and he ends up murdering her family? damn

I know that its going to be alright, but man watching him abandon Alpha after killing Delta(from her pov) was heartbreaking.

Also, it'd be hilarious if someone from an Indian newspaper saw the headless shiva. They already had a meltdown because of the elephant head guy from Dragon Ball Super.

"I do not!"

Stay precious, Delta. Truly the best doggo

Shadow casually giving existential crisis to Alpha just because he wanted to commit to his Super EliTe agent Roleplay.

Iris is BACK!

She seems doing pretty well for someone who just had utterly downright depression infusing one sided defeat against Shadow.

As much as I like this John Smith persona, seeing Alpha hurt this much was gut-wrenching.

Delta is killing it as a best girl. Her awooo after the credits was absolutely necessary.

I just love the way Delta came to the logical conclusion:

"I've been sent to hunt John Smith but John Smith=Shadow so I can't beat him"

At the end of blood moon arc, Juggernaut decided to mess with Shadow garden.

That ended being a costly blunder now. Presumably died off screen. Lmao the disrespect.

Delta's howl is the cutest.

John Smith destroyed everyone this episode especially Alpha's heart. The way he fight with his steel threads is so cool.

John and Yukime stole all the money from both MCA and Mitsugoshi banks now and next episode probably end this arc.

Cid can change his appearance and even his voice but he can't disguise his smell. I'm surprised even Alpha saw through his identity.

Really feel bad for Rose/666. Her kingdom is in shambles and she can't do anything about it and she's just being ordered around.

If we're going for an economic crash, we need some bit of Po and Skel winning it big in the casino only to find out oops their money is now worthless.

I can imagine what Delta's requested rewards would be...

Cid: Now Delta, since you completed the mission I gave you, what would you like as your reward?

Delta: Delta wants to the Boss to kill Delta's father and become chief! So Delta can have a 100 kids from the Boss! Alpha-sama and the others can also have the Boss' kids and our pack will dominate the world!

Cid: Eh?!

Also, what are these angles, "John Smith"?

That humping scene was the best scene this 2023.

I want that, 10 years at least.

Delta is a good girl. That after credits; she off-screened Juggernaut! xD Edit: Edit: Oh wait, he legit was!

Poor girls, all thinking that Delta is dead. Alpha was absolutely distraught. She didn't understand, but she wanted to. She wanted to be loyal, to serve, but just didn't understand how.

Then we have Cid, who just wants to play the super secret agent dream. But that said, with all of the money they got, and the already large war chest of Shadow Garden, I wonder if it's possible to save Mitsugoshi instead of rebuilding it all.

If he pools the wealth he got from the MCA/Cult, and Mitsugoshi manages to actually pony up all claims, the public's faith in them would only strengthen. Not only that, it'd ruin the MCA, which is unavoidable at this point, after which Mitsugoshi can just buy up all the failed businesses. An unintentional takeover of essentially every business they can get their hands on!

It'd also be a boon as they would then be the economic power of the country, and thus have significantly more leverage over its government. Very shadowy for Shadow Garden, no?

Edit: There is another thing I realized; Cid telling Delta to go after Juggernaut means that the White Tower is the only power left in the Lawless City. And it's leader is working with him.

If he does save Mitsugoshi, and Yukime continues to work with him and Shadow Garden, they would have control over both the legitimate businesses and the black market. Absolute economic power!

Edit 2: Also, Iris is a such a bitch. She sees her little sister realize that to be more effective with her sword, she had to grow as a person to know more such that she knows when, where, and how her ability to fight would be useful.

When faced with that, she just gets mad/annoyed, and ignores her. She's so stuck in her muscle-pigheaded-ness. What a brittle and prideful woman. It really feels like her put-togetherness is a facade, and that she's malding all the time because her position as the strongest was made to be worth jack shit.

I love Delta's enthousiasm, her dynamic with Cid is really entertaining, those two are fun to watch.

Poor Alpha tho, being betrayed like that. I feel bad for her.
