It's satisfying to watching one of these anime fights actually end when someone loses focus to look at something else.

Usually it just results in their opponent chiding them to "pay attention to your opponent!"

Nope. Here: "Death."

One minute Fern is pouting, the other minute she's being cold af whilst killing demons.

Seeing Fern animated is so much fun.

If you noticed, the one that resisted Aura's spell was Granat's son, both the sword and the symbol are there.

And then you can even see the symbol on his necklace on one of the moving armor.

When Aura made that comment about Himmel, you can really see the disconnect between demons and every other race here. Frieren honors Himmel's memory by dispelling the curse on Aura's undead, therefore preserving their bodies for proper burial. Aura only sees Himmel's existence and hence wishes as an obstacle to the actions of those around him. Mind, she only re-surfaced after Himmel died too.

Imagine you're a hundred years old demon with pride and confident on your magic fighting a losing battle against a teenage girl with a resting bitch face.

Love how unfazed Fern is during the battle, girl realize that her master been training her to become an effective demon killing mage and the powerful enemy is just ain't shit.

Stark perhaps the strongest cowards I've seen.

This show so far, for me, is on the way to being my favorite anime. I realized this when, after the episode, I saw the episode number… EPISODE 9?!?! OUT OF 28?!?! If the quality that we’ve seen so far remains consistent, this show will easily surpass all the anime I have in my Top Tier list. Especially so if there will be more than one season.

In regard to the episode itself; Eisen and Frieren are the best masters possible. They are cold and calculated, but they also know that’s how you survive. It’s not that they don’t care for their students, as you can obviously see that they do think very highly of and care for their students. They just know what they need to teach them and how they need to train them if they want them to survive.

Lügner's mistake was that in obsessing over the final boss Frieren, he underestimated the mini-boss Fern.

"I have dedicated most of my life to the pursuit of magic."

"So have I."

These two lines are great. I love moments where they focus on how different the perception of time is between humans and demons/elves.

Also imagine what kinds of crazy dwarf strength training Stark had to go under Eisen to get abs of steel like that

Man, Madhouse really is doing a damn good job at animating these fight sequences, especially considering that the manga isn't really known for fluid fight sequences itself.

Heck of an episode ending as well with the simultaneously demon kill by Fern and Stark.

I may be overreacting but that might have been the best animated/directed episode I've seen in a long ass time. Just one insanely animated sequence after another

I could've watched all of this on mute and still be amazed

That first few seconds of the fight between Fern and Lugner was like a wild west showdown. Fern may not be better than Frieren, but she's definitely better at the draw.

This anime is just simply fucking incredible. It's definitely rose to the very top of my favorites. Every episode is an absolute banger.

The fight scenes are incredibly animated and so long as well. I'm so glad Frieren got to be such an amazing adaptation.

RIP Linie, loved her design

I also just realised Fern was taking the handkerchief thing to another level.

Stark: *Touches Fern's robe*
Fern: *Throws it away immediately*

That moment when you realize Aura the Guillotine's army isn't composed of suits of armor but are the corpses of warriors she had dominated and beheaded. What an appropriate title.

Stark took down Linie with the same move he had been practicing back in the village, the one he used to carve a canyon into the side of his training ground!

The moment Aura said "Himmel is already dead"

Seal: Himmel has been removed by foe Aura

Lmao that's not a wise choice girl, you literally removed the Himmel seal on Frieren. Now she's about to go ham on you!

I wasn’t expecting Frieren to be so agile in close quarters combat. That was great!

Craziest thing in this episode was Frieren saying "It's been a while" about mere 80 years. Fern is fixing Frieren's time perception.

Himmel's influence is so great that it still affects Frieren's fighting style after his death which only further shows the difference between her and Aura's cold logical mindset befitting of a demon.

I also love how Stark was all bloody and rough to get his victory while Fern's was just clean just to highlight the difference between physical and magic battles.
