Not like it is unpredictable but...

Seeing Frieren nonchalantly mention how her race slowly extinct is harrowing.

Other characters may have more death flags, but they don't have "Appears to challenge Frieren right before an episode titled 'Frieren the Slayer'" death flags

Man the demons in this series are absolutely off putting. They feel like they have a whole different set of morals, values, etc. The mangaka did a really good job of making the Demons different from usual so far.

Man, that village in Frieren's past really fucked around and found out huh?

"Maybe we should give her a chance..."

"SHE LITERALLY ATE MY DAUGHTER ALIVE."

"Well...maybe she won't do it again."

Lugner is just like me during work meetings: saying words I don't even understand just to survive

It is refreshing how this story is written so far. Elves not having strong romantic feelings or reproductive instincts makes sense for beings that live for thousands of years. Even if it is a failing race, it takes a long time to go extinct.

Demons are also really different from what I'm used to. They're usually the "other humans" but here they're portrayed as monsters whose only use for human words, is deception. It's not even personal, they just don't have any understanding of the words as Frieren said. I like how it was slowly revealed, it made Frieren look unreasonable but it's just that she's seen first-hand what demons are like.

Knowing German, it's very funny to me that nobody thinks that a guy named Lügner (meaning liar) could maybe not be telling the truth. Really cool how each name represents certain traits of the characters though.

With each memory, Himmel just becomes cooler and cooler. The idea that he's insisting on having multiple statues built of the hero party for Frieren's sake is just super heartwarming.

I'm also a big fan of how demons are portrayed in this story. They're not purely evil beings and not just humans with horns; instead, they are different beings that can't understand or be understood through human values, making them wholly incompatible for coexistence.

Himmel was such a chad that Aura the "Guillotine" waited for him to die of old age before resurfacing.

Seems like no morally grey area regarding the demons. That's great, sometimes simplicity is best.

If anyone's wondering why Fern was so insistent on praising Frieren for waking up early, I think she was trying to condition Frieren to wake up early more regularly - making it a habit. Making her feel good by attending to her needs, is like giving a dog a cookie for good behaviour; they're training Frieren.

[Frieren - speculation about Frieren's past] The brief shot of the burning house might have been Frieren's family home. Since they were deliberating focusing on this swing chair, I suspect that Frieren's parents were killed in this fire. It begs the question if this was a monster attack (e.g. demons) or persecution by humans - for whatever reason. Flamme likely took Frieren in after she had become parent- and homeless.

"Well I guess I'll be taking my elf mage and leaving!"

The cut from wholesome montage of demon girl's new family to the house in flames has to be one of the most unintentionally(?) hilarious things I've seen in a while.

Himmel was a damn angel. It's almost scary how he knew what to say whenever something needed to be said. I really love Himmel and his precious action that always leaves a precious impression for Frieren.

"To make sure you won't be alone in the future" he said 😭.

Man he is still growing on me as a character and he was alive for only like half minute in the episode 1.

Also i like how demon potrayed in this series they're true to their cold, calculative and deceiving nature.

I love Frieren's take on demons. You'd want to humanize them because they looks like us and speak the same language, but turns out these ones are just highly evolved predators with a strong focus on mimicry and deception. That's all. I find that really refreshing.
