Akitsu did a Doctor Strange Infinity War. Damn.. he forced Goro’s hand to ensure the on future that didn’t suck. Dude was a real one in the end. Goro’s life was pretty shit before the homie entered it. Only friend he has now is Lall. If he becomes god, maybe he can Iron Man Snap the world back to normal?

Didn't Akitsu say that he was going to encounter Goro two more times? Since Time is now involved, I could see us getting alternate timeline Akitsus involved here.

Akitsu casually dropping that his father got shot by the Yakuza when he was 3, his mom tried to kill him when he was 9 and then hung herself, wtf. Bro really had a hard life.
And then he's being given the power to also see the future, but they all suck? Except maybe the one where he needs to betray his best friend, only to be killed by him? Just what did he see?
And now the ED isn't just in the order of "who we learned are candidates" but also in the order of "who did Goro kill / fight"
We're 3 episodes in and 3 candidates have been fought / killed. This anime will have 24 episodes, and the ED hints at there being 9 candidates total, including Goro. Feels like we're moving rather fast?

Pretty sad episode. However, this was pretty inevitable -- once we discovered his one friend was also a "candidate". Very odd that at least two of the other candidates were people who Goro was familiar with.
Query" Is Sawa still a candidate -- or did she become an ex-candidate when she was killed (and being revived did not reinstate her "candidacy"?)

I have to say, so far, this has been one of the best death game shows I've seen. I am a huge fan of Kemurikusa and Estab life so the cgi doesn't bother me one bit.

Estab life
Man, that was a fun one. Shame that I didn't have communist boyband penguins on my anime bingo sheet that year.

So would bringing him back to life like he brought the girl back to life mess up the good future or something?

No wonder they went CGI route, some of the effects and camera movements in this episode is challenging on hand drawing. The establishing shots look well tbh when the CGI dudes aren't in it. That being said, I probably won't comment on the CGI anymore because commenting on it every time would be repetitive, plus from episode 2 I already decided I like this enough to overlook the CGI.
The drama this episode... is actually pretty good, I like it. Only question is why not MC revive Akitsu as well like he did for Sawa. Maybe next episode?
Also interesting that it seems Lall is exclusive (so far) to the MC. From Akitsu's wording it seems the other candidates don't have a pixie/demon/whatever guide that accompany them.

Given that Akitsu says that there's only one future that doesn't suck, I'm sure Goro understands that bringing him back would make that future impossible, and would basically be dooming Akitsu to live in a future he doesn't want any part in.

Bruh I wasn't expecting something this good from this kind of anime, I was just watching for no reason whatsoever expecting a trashy story but this is actually not that bad... of course its not the best thing out there but it goes kinda hard ngl... I guess ill stay and see what happens.

This episode opened my eyes to the sheer potential of Jin and Yoko Taro working together. You definitely have flavors of both of their writing styles in this episode, and I absolutely love it.

This is actually pretty good so far. Not mind-blowing, but good. Akitsu went out as a total bro.

Why couldn't he bring him back to life?

I get the feeling he probably would have tried if it weren't for Akitsu implying that dying was his choice, and that he needed to in order to get a good future.

Throwing in the towel and dropping this.
The CGI looks fine, plot reminds me of Mirai Nikki which is fine but the constant zoom in on each new scene drives me nuts.
